The Effectiveness Using Pictures in Teaching Vocabulary at State Junior High School 03 Bangkinang

Nur’aini, (2019): The Effectiveness Using Pictures in Teaching Vocabulary
at State Junior High School 03 Bangkinang
The objectives of this research were to find out the information and data
about students’ vocabulary taught using picture at State Junior High School 03
Bangkinang, and to find out if there is a significant difference of using picture at
State Junior High School 03 Bangkinang. The design of this research is quasi
experimental design .The population of this research was at State Junior High
School 03 Bangkinang in the academic year 2018/2019. The total number of
population was 75 students. The sample was taken by using classter random
sampling. The sample was class VII A consisting of 20 students as an
experimental class, and class VII B consisting of 20 students as a control class.
So, the number of sample from two classes was 40 students. The technique of
collecting data used by writer was test, used to find out the students’ vocabulary.
The technique of analyzing data was an independent sample T-test formula by
using SPSS 23. After analyzing the data, the writer found that the score of t

was rejected. It can be concluded that the students’ vocabulary taught by
using picture is better than which were taught without using picture at State Junior
High School 03 Bangkinang. It meant that there wassignificant difference of using
picture on students’ vocabulary at State Junior High School 03 Bangkinang.

PROBLEMATIKA PENYUSUNAN PROGRAM BIMBINGAN DAN KONSELING BERBASIS IDENTIFIKASI KEBUTUHAN DAN MASALAH SISWA (IKMS) DI SEKOLAH MENENGAH KEJURUAN KEHUTANAN PEKANBARU
Tujuan penelitian: (1) Untuk megetahui problematika penyusunan
program BK berbasis IKMS, (2) Faktor penyebab problematika penyusunan
program BK berbasis IKMS, (3) Solusi guru BK untuk mengatasi problematika
penyusunan program BK berbasis IKMS di SMK Kehutanan Pekanbaru. Data
penelitian diperoleh melalui wawancara dan di analisis menggunakan teknik
perbandingan tetap. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) pelaksanaan belum
mengikuti langkah-langkah penggunaan instrumen (2) siswa asal-asalan, tidak
jujur, malas-malasan asal ceklis dan tidak serius dalam mengisi angket IKMS (3)
Pengolahan dan pemaknaan jawaban angket IKMS; Tidak dilaksanakan secara
keseluruhan, (4) Guru BK dan seluruh personil sekolah tidak melaksanakan
musyawarah terkait penyusunan program BK, (5) Guru BK belum bisa
meminimalisir waktu penyusunan Program BK, (6) Instrumen IKMS belum
efektif bagi siswa, (7) Belum ada pembaharuan instrumen IKMS. Faktor
penyebab problematika penyusunan program BK berbasis IKMS adalah :(1)
Siswa; Persepsi negatif siswa, program BK jarang dilaksanakan dan pengalaman
buruk siswa terhadap BK, (2) Musyawarah penyusunan program BK; minimnya
waktu dan pengetahuan personil sekolah mengenai BK serta latar belakang
pendidikan yang berbeda, (3) Waktu; adanya beberapa panggilan saat penyusunan
program BK sehingga penyusunan program tertunda, (4) Efektivitas instrumen;
siswa tidak mengisi angket IKMS dengan serius dan jujur. Solusi Guru BK dalam
mengatasi problematika penyusunan program BK berbasis IKMS: (1)Mengikuti
pelatihan penunjang profesi untuk mendapatkan informasi terkait program BK, (2)
Menyusun program tambahan yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa, (3) Meminta
jam pelajaran tambahan dalam pengisian angket IKMS yang berjumlah 180
pernyataan, (4) Menjelaskan kembali terkait tujuan, fungsi dan kegunaan IKMS
terhadap siswa, (5) Berinovasi dalam pelaksanaan layanan, (6) Mencari instrumen
lain yang lebih efektif untuk mengatasi masalah dan memenuhi kebutuhan siswa.

THE INFLUENCE OF STUDENTS’ UNDERSTANDING OF SENTENCE PATTERN AND VOCABULARY MASTERY ON THEIR READING COMPREHENSION AT THE FIRST YEAR OF SMKN 1 KUANTAN SINGINGI REGENCY
Reading is the most essential skill for success in all educational
context. The main goal or reading is comprehension. While there are many
factors can influence reading comprehension, two of them are
understanding of sentence pattern and vocabulary mastery. So, the main
purpose of this research is to find out the influence of students‟
understanding of sentence pattern and vocabulary mastery on their reading
comprehension of recount text at State Vocational Senior High School 1
Logas Tanah Darat Kuantan Singingi Regency. This was a correlational
research that consists of three variables; two independent variables,
namely the students‟understanding of sentence pattern and students‟
vocabulary mastery, and one dependent variable is students‟ reading
comprehension. The research participants consisted of 175 tenth-grade
students at the State Vocational Senior High School. The instruments that
were used to collect the data are tests. After analysing the data by using
multiple regressions, the finding indicated that there is a significant
influence of the students‟ understanding of sentence pattern and
vocabulary mastery on their reading comprehension, in which sig=0.000 <
0.05. Therefore, the null hypothesis is rejected and the alternative
hypothesis is accepted. In conclusion, the higher students‟ understanding
of sentence pattern and vocabulary mastery the higher of students‟ reading
comprehension would be.

The Correlation Between Students' Habits In Listening to English Song and Their Listening Comprehension at SMA N 2 Tapung.

This research entitles "The Correlation Between Students' Habits In Listening to English Song and Their Listening Comprehension at SMA N 2 Tapung." The goal of this research was to find out whether there is any significant correlation between habit in listening to English song and the students' listening comprehension. The type of this research was correlational research. The sample of this research was 64 students. Test and questionnaire were the techniques used in collecting the data of this reseach. In analyzing data the researcher used Person Product moment correlation by using SPSS 22 for Windows. Based on Pearson analisis, it was shown that research the sig. (2-tailed) value was 0.000. It's smaller than 0.05 sig (2-tailed) alpha value. The result shows the coefficient had strong correlation between habit in listening to English song and students' listening comprehension at SMA N 2 Tapung.

The Analysis of English textbook “Bahasa Inggris“ for Senior High School of Grade Tenth
The purpose of this research is to identify that English textbooks for SMA/MA
and SMK/MAK of class X edition revision 2017 is in accordance with good book
evaluation and curriculum 2013. Under Qualitative Descriptive Research Method,
this research uses field notes adapted from textbook evaluation criteria by
Cunningsworth (1995) and Mc. Donough and Shaw (2003) as research
instruments. This textbook consisted of fifteen chapters, but the researcher
analyzed five chapters as sample research, for example, chapter 1, chapter 2,
chapter 8, chapter 14, and chapter 15.The results of this study indicate that the
English textbooks for SMA/MA and SMK/MAK class X published by the
Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia are in accordance with the criteria
of good textbook evaluation. The results of the analysis show that for external
evaluation, textbooks have good design and organization and also physical makeup.
In the internal evaluation, textbooks have good language content and good
language skills. In the overall evaluation, the researchers examined the suitability
of textbooks with the 2013 curriculum; English textbooks have a core competence
and less basic competence, less scientific approach, and less authentic assessment.
The second analysis shows that most of the material in this textbook is less
suitable with the 2013 curriculum in terms of KI and KD, scientific approach, and
authentic assessment. Finally, it can be concluded that English textbooks for
SMA/MA and SMK/MAK class X are in accordance with good textbook
evaluation criteria, but they are not in accordance with the demands of the 2013
curriculum.

THE CORRELATION BETWEEN STUDENTS’ CONSCIENTIOUSNESS PERSONALITY AND THEIR ENGLISH ACHIEVEMENT AT SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL 3 MANDAU BENGKALIS
The purpose of this research is to examine whether there is any significant
correlation between conscientiousness personality and English achievement at the
eleventh grade student of senior high school 03 Mandau. There were 60 students
as samples by using simple random sampling technique. This research approach
was quantitative method and the technique used in this research was a
correlational technique. In collecting the data, the writer distributed the
questionnaire to the respondents to determine the conscientiousness personality,
which consist of 42 item statements that was constructed based on the indicators
of conscientiousness personality by Premuzic & Furnham and used
documentation of the students’ score made by English teacher at the school to
determine the English achievement.. The writer used Pearson Product Moment
Correlation through SPSS 20.0 to analyze the data. The result of this research
showed that sig.r obtained value is 0.000 lower than alpha value (0.05). it means
that null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected while alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.
The value of robtained is 0.525 > rtable is 0.254. In conclusion, there is a correlation
between conscientiousness personality and their English achievement at Senior
High School 03 Mandau.

AN ERROR ANALYSIS OF PREPOSITION IN SIMPLE SENTENCES AT THE SECOND YEAR STUDENTS OF MTS NEGERI SUNGAI APIT

THE COMPARISON BETWEEN INTROVERT AND EXTROVERTSTUDENTS’ WRITING ABILITY AT ELEVENTH GRADE OF STATE ISLAMIC SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL RENGAT INDRAGIRI HULU REGENCY
The purpose of this research were to find out the significant difference on
students’ writing ability between introvert and extrovert students and to know the
level of writing ability of introvert and extrovert. The population of the research
was the eleventh grade students of nature science State Islamic Senior High
School Rengat consist of 51 Students. They were given a questionnaire about type
of personality, based on the result of questionnaire, writer took 20 introvert and 20
extrovert students to be sample of the research. Then, 40 students (20 introvert
and 20 extrovert) were asked to write a report paragraph. Their writing was
assessed by two rater based on rubric from Jacob (1981). The mean score of
introvert students’ writing ability were 73,12, it is categorized to good level.
While the mean score of extrovert students’ writing ability were 64, it is
categorized to enough level. The mean score of their writing were analyzed with
Independent Sample T-test formula calculated by using SPSS 22 version. Then,
the result of independent sample t-test found that sig (2-tailed) was 0.034
(0.034<0.05) means that statistically significant difference. The null hyphotesis
was rejected while the alternatif hyphotesis was accepted. In conclusion, there is a
significant difference on students’ writing ability between introvert and extrovert
students, the result showed that introvert students outperformed than extrovert
students in writing ability.
