Thermospheric Heating and Cooling Times During Geomagnetic Storms, Including Extreme Events
We present the first quantitative calculations of thermospheric heating and cooling times for geomagnetic storms of different intensity, including extreme events. We utilize the neutral mass density database of the CHAllenging Minisatellite Payload and Gravity Recovery And Climate Experiment missions to produce thermospheric global system response to geomagnetic storms caused by coronal mass ejections via superposed epoch analysis during May 2001 to December 2015. Storm events are grouped in five different categories based on the minimum value of the SYMH index. We calculate the time from storm onset for the thermosphere to reach maximum intensification (heating time) and the time from onset for the thermosphere to recover (cooling time). We find that heating and cooling times decrease as storm intensity increases and the effect is more pronounced for the cooling times. For extreme storms, the thermospheric heating time is 9.5 hr, while the cooling time is 22 hr
Kualitas Pelayanan Pembuatan Paspor di Kantor Imigrasi Kelas I Semarang
Nowadays, quality of service become issues that keep occur in some publik services. We can see as there are complaints from people in mass media that they dont get an optimal service, it lead to emerge of bad image for the aparatus. Goal of this reasearch is to know and analyze whether the qualty of service in imigration first class semarang already surpass the expectation. Research use three components morgan and murgatroyd's theory that is, “the triangel of balance in service quality” which are interpersonal component, procedure environment or process component, and technical or profesional component to make a better service. In practice, we can categorize is with dimensions in quality of services, tangibel, reliability, responsiviness, assurance, empathy. Reasearch use qualitative method. Reasearch try to understand public services management and effect from analyzing quality of service in process of making passport at imigration in semarang. The result indicates that the employees showed good attitude and friendly to customer, friendly attitude and smiles from the employees made the process is not awkward and better in service. The result shows that the customer felt comforable for the waiting room. However, the parking lot at the imigration class I in semarang is not big enough to contain all the customer. Based on the research about quality of service in process of making passport at immigration class I in semarang. Researcher concludes that there's some room to improve in the passport service done by imigration first class in semarang
Tuning gastropod locomotion: Modeling the influence of mucus rheology on the cost of crawling
Common gastropods such as snails crawl on a solid substrate by propagating
muscular waves of shear stress on a viscoelastic mucus. Producing the mucus
accounts for the largest component in the gastropod's energy budget, more than
twenty times the amount of mechanical work used in crawling. Using a simple
mechanical model, we show that the shear-thinning properties of the mucus favor
a decrease in the amount of mucus necessary for crawling, thereby decreasing
the overall energetic cost of locomotion.Comment: Corrected typo
Subsurface Mapping of Intra-Arbuckle Shale in North-West Kansas Using Well Log Data
The aim of this research was to enhance knowledge of Intra-Arbuckle Shale (IAS) distribution and structure through new maps, cross sections, and well log correlations. Understanding the shale(s) ultimately advances the discernment of complex Arbuckle reservoirs that are critical to the Kansas petroleum industry. IAS has been intercepted by oil wells throughout Kansas, but this study focuses on their presence in portions of Ellis, Rooks, Graham, and Trego counties. To study the distribution and structure of IAS, data from micro-resistivity and gamma ray well logs were collected from more than three hundred Arbuckle oil and gas wells. On each well log, properties such as sub-sea level elevation and depth were taken for both the Arbuckle top contact and shale interceptions. Properties specific to shale included: gamma ray and resistivity values, number of shales present (number of barriers), and reservoir (zone) thicknesses. With these data, maps were created using an inverse distance weighted (IDW) spatial analyst technique through ArcGIS Pro 2.7.0. These maps included a basic Arbuckle top contact structure/elevation map, IAS structure/elevation map, potential number of IAS barriers map, and two zone thickness maps. From the same data, several cross sections and well log correlations were produced. The results from these data, maps, and figures suggest that IAS acts as an impermeable barrier to fluid flow, creating the potential for untapped reservoirs of oil and gas to accumulate beneath them. They also indicate that Intra-Arbuckle Shale in this region has undergone structural deformation and has been subjected to erosion and karstification, resulting in a complex alteration of reservoirs (zones). With help from this study, two things are hoped for: 1) an increased understanding of IAS distribution and structure will benefit the oil industry in future Arbuckle explorations and 2), future researchers will use the information produced to conduct in-depth studies on the Arbuckle formation’s depositional and diagenetic history
KickAct: the Implementation & Evaluation of a Youth Empowerment & Leadership Program
KickAct is a program that combines martial arts and performing arts to empower youth and engage them in creative social change. Youth experience a lack of community engagement and partnership with the adult. Many youth face additional challenges, ranging from lack of support in school to violence at home, that can negatively impact their life. KickAct is designed to provide youth with the necessary skills and experience to thrive as active participants in their communities. Due to inconsistent attendance and participation, it was not possible to determine whether the workshop format was a successful method for youth empowerment. However, the workshop proved to be an effective tool for an initial youth group assessment
