Electroweak Precision Observables and the Unhiggs

We compute one-loop corrections to the S and T parameters in the Unhiggs scenario. In that scenario, the Standard Model Higgs is replaced by a non-local object, called the Unhiggs, whose spectral function displays a continuum above the mass gap. The Unhiggs propagator has effectively the same UV properties as the Standard Model Higgs propagator, which implies that loop corrections to the electroweak precision observables are finite and calculable. We show that the Unhiggs is consistent with electroweak precision tests when its mass gap is at the weak scale; in fact, it then mimics a light SM Higgs boson. We also argue that the Unhiggs, while being perfectly visible to electroweak precision observables, is invisible to detection at LEP.Comment: 13 pages; v2: references added, discussion of production cross-section expande

Objeción de conciencia y equilibrio

La objeción de conciencia pone a prueba las bases del Estado de Derecho, pues confronta los principios básicos que sustentan el orden público y la paz social: la dignidad de la persona humana, de un lado, y el respeto a la ley aplicable, de otro. Porque este equilibrio, magistralmente consagrado en el artículo 10 de la Constitución Española, es desafiado cuando se invoca la objeción de conciencia, resulta conveniente aproximarnos a su esencia, a fin de facilitar la labor de discernimiento de los operadores jurídicos. Por esencia me refiero a aquel punto en que la objeción de conciencia no sólo no desestabiliza, sino que –por el contrario– corrige los defectos del sistema, lo reequilibra. Es entonces cuando merece ser admitida o, de lo contrario, se resiente el Estado de Derecho, por dañarse uno de sus principios básicos, la dignidad humana. Immature dendritic cells selectively replicate macrophagetropic (M- tropic) human immunodeficiency virus type 1, while mature cells efficiently transmit both M- and T-tropic virus to T cells

Dendritic cells (DCs) can develop from CD14+ peripheral blood monocytes cultured in granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) and interleukin 4 (IL-4). By 6 days in culture, the cells have the characteristics of immature DCs and can be further induced to mature by inflammatory stimuli or by monocyte-conditioned medium. After infection with macrophagetropic (M-tropic) human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1), monocytes and mature DCs show a block in reverse transcription and only form early transcripts that can be amplified with primers for the R/U5 region. In contrast, immature DCs cultured for 6 or 11 days in GM-CSF and IL-4 complete reverse transcription and show a strong signal when LTR/gag primers are used. Blood monocytes and mature DCs do not replicate HIV-1, whereas immature DCs can be productively infected, but only with M-tropic HIV-1. The virus produced by immature DCs readily infects activated T cells. Although mature DCs do not produce virus, these cells transmit both M- and T-tropic virus to T cells. In the cocultures, both DCs and T cells must express functional chemokine coreceptors for viral replication to occur. Therefore, the developmental stage of DCs can influence the interaction of these cells with HIV-1 and influence the extent to which M-tropic and T-tropic virus can replicate

Use different platforms with internet access to communicate with each other, they can be considered as tools for teaching and learning because they provide a platform for versatile communication favoring the establishment of personal and group relations, and to promote horizontal relationships not only between teachers and students but among all those who want to stay connected, without any conditions, deepening their sense of belonging to a group, favoring the creation of learning communities. Evangelism is a process of teaching, learning, experience and testimony of faith; that demand planning, organization and evaluation. Currently the digital environment is part of the daily reality of the students, especially the younger; Also in this digital environment, must be present the Gospel. Social networks could form part of this new language which calls the new evangelization. It is not just to keep up; it is announced that the infinite richness of the Gospel find forms of expression that can reach the minds and hearts of all, using not only the word but also the image and sound. It can be said then that social networks can serve as a link between communities ideal individuals and / or similar preference, allowing interaction and exchange of ideas breaking the barriers of space and time and in many cases even the language, providing the participants the opportunity to share and acquire new knowledge.Las redes sociales son estructuras compuestas por grupos de personas, entidades, organizaciones, entre otros.
