Important investments have been made worldwide in the modernization and construction of railway lines. Plans for new constructions, have also been laid out. Recently, precast concrete has been widely employed in the construction of railway bridges and viaducts. Several precast solutions have been applied, namely: I-shaped or U-shaped precast girders and uni-cellular or bi-cellular precast box girders. Regarding the structural scheme in the longitudinal direction, either simple span or continuous decks have been used. In this context, this work aims to contribute to the knowledge about the real performance of these structures through the development of a laboratory tests setup, for the study of this type of structure, focusing on the connection between the precast beams. The setup will be implemented at the Laboratory of Earthquake and Structural Engineering (LESE), several experimental campaigns on the cyclic behaviour of reinforced concrete elements have been carried out.6612-034D-AE05 | PEDRO DA SILVA DELGADON/

The main focus on this research is to determine the most suitable morphological phenotype to a Teamgym athlete. Knowing which morphological phenotype athletes should reach according to the requirements and characteristics of the discipline, it’s intended to increase the assertiveness of training process. The sample used is a group of 85 gymnasts from Sporting Clube de Portugal, ages between 9 and 25, junior and senior levels. It was recorded three different forms of data collection: bioimpedance, anthropometry and questionnaire - Study about injuries in Gymnasts Competition in the season of 2005/2006 (Oliveira, R., et al., 2007). With these data I was able to determinate somatotype and body mass index of athletes; inquired them about their training process; and investigate the occurrence of injuries in the last sports season. I came to the conclusion that although the training process appears not to be organized in the best way to foster a morphological adaptation, senior elite level athletes are predominantly mesomorph, somatotype that is going to meet the characteristics of the sport. Other conclusions are the diferences between men and women at achieve this morphology. Women have much more difficulty achieving mesomorph somatotype, they have higher incidence of injury

One of the fragile aspects of piano learning within the elder Conservatory students in Portugal is demonstrated by the separation between practical and artistic components. By this I mean they persist on mechanical repetitions without thinking of the specific goal of producing a musical sound. Consequently the fertility of the auditive imagination is kept aside and the exploration of the timbre-dynamic spectrum hardly get’s accomplished. This Project proposes the exercise of the orchestral thinking has a way of reaching a more creative and personalized interpretation.Mestrado em Ensino de Músic

Goat's milk is considered dietary and closer to the human’s1. The yield of its transformation into cheese is conditioned by protein and lipid composition of milk2-4 and in a thinner way, the proportions in which different proteins contribute to the formation of the whole protein fraction. The ability of coagulation is directly related to a structured clot on which will depend the renneting yield and final texture of the cheese5. The Serrana breed is considered the best for milk purpose and is the largest national herd. Currently has four ecotypes: Ribatejana, Transmontana, Jarmelista and Serra6. The genetic structure of a population, presenting higher frequency of favorable genes, is crucial in the definition of production purpose.PRODER–Medida 4.1–PA23881info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

The AMBRE Project: searching for the closest solar siblings

Finding solar siblings, that is, stars that formed in the same cluster as the Sun, will yield information about the conditions at the Sun's birthplace. We search for solar sibling candidates in AMBRE, the very large spectra database of solar vicinity stars. Since the ages and chemical abundances of solar siblings are very similar to those of the Sun, we carried out a chemistry- and age-based search for solar sibling candidates. We used high-resolution spectra to derive precise stellar parameters and chemical abundances of the stars. We used these spectroscopic parameters together with Gaia DR2 astrometric data to derive stellar isochronal ages. Gaia data were also used to study the kinematics of the sibling candidates. From the about 17000 stars that are characterized within the AMBRE project, we first selected 55 stars whose metallicities are closest to the solar value (-0.1 < [Fe/H] < 0.1 dex). For these stars we derived precise chemical abundances of several iron-peak, alpha- and neutron-capture elements, based on which we selected 12 solar sibling candidates with average abundances and metallicities between -0.03 to 0.03 dex. Our further selection left us with 4 candidates with stellar ages that are compatible with the solar age within observational uncertainties. For the 2 of the hottest candidates, we derived the carbon isotopic ratios, which are compatible with the solar value. HD186302 is the most precisely characterized and probably the most probable candidate of our 4 best candidates. Very precise chemical characterization and age estimation is necessary to identify solar siblings. We propose that in addition to typical chemical tagging, the study of isotopic ratios can give further important information about the relation of sibling candidates with the Sun. Ideally, asteroseismic age determinations of the candidates could solve the problem of imprecise isochronal ages.Comment: Accepted for publication in A&
