Aquest article repassa l’evolució del cas Enron i aprofundeix en l’anàlisi d’una de les conseqüències més ignorades de l’allau de fraus, la responsabilitat del món acadèmic –expressada sota la forma de la configuració moral dels gestors de l’economia. S’exposen, doncs, els elements que permeten parlar d’aquesta mena de responsabilitat: traduir una proposta teòrica insuficient a ambiciosa teoria normativa; per, finalment, apuntar cap a una proposta de reordenació dels plans d’estudis vigents. Key factors and barriers to the adoption of cold ironing in europe

The first cases of successful implementation of cold ironing can be found in Alaska about twenty years ago. In that case, the energy cost was lower than in Europe where cold ironing has been developed only in the latest years at few ports. The present paper investigates the innovative process of cold ironing at European level. Firstly, its recent development in Europe is documented as well as the main concern of its corresponding legislation. Then, the adoption of this initiative by the “green ports” concept is discussed. Secondly, the technical barriers, such as lack of standardization of electricity parameters are mentioned. And given that port electrical infrastructure needed onshore represents a huge investment that not all ports are financially able to do, the financial problematic is treated explicitly taking into account the cost of energy at ports (directly provided by electric centrals or converted) against the energy cost onboard. Cultural strategies at the service of chilean diplomacy: the mission of José Antonio Soffia in Bogotá, 1881-1886

Este artículo analiza el papel diplomático-cultural de José Antonio Soffia, enviado extraordinario y Ministro plenipotenciario chileno radicado en Bogotá entre 1881 y 1886. Teniendo entre sus objetivos mejorar la imagen de Chile en Colombia y prevenir su intromisión en los planes asociados al triunfo en la Guerra del Pacífico, se plantea que Soffia buscó ganar el favor de la élite política y letrada colombiana por medio de estrategias culturales. Conocedor de los gustos literarios de la clase política local, Soffia aprovechó su vocación como poeta para vincularse con esta, promoviendo proyectos editoriales, espacios de sociabilidad e intercambios de libros. Ejercido durante cinco años, este accionar le ganó el favor del medio letrado capitalino, que cambió su opinión negativa frente a Chile y que incluso, luego de su repentina muerte en 1886, le homenajeó como a uno de los suyos por sus diversos aportes a la cultura nacional.This paper seeks to analyze the diplomatic and cultural role of José Antonio Soffia, the Chilean Extraordinary Envoy and Plenipotentiary Minister based in Bogotá between 1881 and 1886. In order to improve Chile’s image in Colombia and prevent its intrusion into the plans contemplated by the Chilean government at the end of the Pacific War, the text argues that Soffia sought to win the favor of the Colombian political and literary elite through cultural strategies. Knowing the literary tastes of the political class, Soffia took advantage of his vocation as a poet to link with it, promoting publishing projects, spaces of sociability and exchanges of books. Exercised for five years, this action won him the favor of the lettered circles, which changed his negative opinion against Chile and even honored Soffia, after his sudden death in 1886, as one of his own for their various contributions to Colombian culture

Competitividad y medio ambiente: la construcción de patrones exportadores sustentables en América Latina

In this study we discuss the need to develop sustainable export patterns in Latin America that fulfill two criteria: reduce the importance of activities that impose the greatest environmental impacts and increase the relevance of activities and products with a higher technological content, since these are the most dynamic in international markets, tend to be cleaner, and present positive spillovers to the rest of the economy. We propose a conceptual framework and analyze the export profiles of Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico, where the heterogeneity among Latin American countries is evident. We conclude that the development of sustainable export patterns will require decisive actions in the environmental and technological domains.trade; environment; technological development; Latin America

Comparación reproductiva de las líneas Camborough y C-29 en la porcícola Avilonia en Dosquebradas, Risaralda

El objetivo general de este estudio fue comparar el rendimiento entre dos líneas comerciales de cerdas: Camborough y C-29 de la casa comercial de CONTEGRAL en la porcicola Avilonia 1 ubicada en Dosquebradas, Risaralda. Para esto, se tomaron las siguientes caracteristicas: número de lechones nacidos vivos (NV), peso al nacimiento (PN), peso de lechones al destete (PD), número de lechones destetos vivos (DV). Por medio de la prueba t-Student se busco establecer si existen diferencias relevantes con base al desempeño reproductivo de las líneas Camborough y C-29. Como resultado se pudo determinar que no hubo una difirencia significativa entre estas dos líneas

EFL culture-based instruction: An observation of attitudes and dispositions in Colombian college students after being exposed to cultural contents

Este proyecto se encuentra enfocado en el análisis del cambio en las actitudes y disposiciones de los estudiantes cuando enfrentan una clase de Ingles con un enfoque hacia un contenido cultural, ya sea del lenguaje materno o de otras culturas. Se analizo un grupo de 5 estudiantes de una Universidad en la ciudad de Pereira de un curso Básico de Ingles (A1) dictado en dicha Universidad, como parte de sus competencias en Ingles para cumplir con los requisitos de grado. La recolección de datos se llevo a cabo elaborando un cuadro comparativo de entrevistas y observaciones. El análisis de estas fue basado en una comparación de datos que fueron triangulados y luego categorizados. Los resultados obtenidos nos muestran que los estudiantes se sienten un poco más interesados para aprender el idioma Ingles mediante un contenido cultural ya sea de la Cultura propia del lenguaje materno u otras culturas y por ende sus actitudes para el aprendizaje de este mejoran en su gran mayoría.This project is focused on the analysis of change in the attitudes and dispositions of students when faced with a kind of English with a focus on cultural content, whether the native language or other cultures. Was analyzed a group of 5 students from a university in the city of Pereira in a Basic English course (A1) given in the university, as part of their competence in English to meet the degree requirements. Data collection was carried out to develop a comparative table of interviews and observations. The analysis of these was based on a comparison of data that were triangulated and then categorized. The results obtained show that students feel a bit more interested to learn English through either cultural content of the culture of the native language or other cultures and thus their attitudes to learning this mostly improved

Implicaciones de la participación de particulares como actores de tortura y conductas delictivas tipificadas como simples lesiones personales, delitos sexuales, violencia intrafamiliar y homicidios

Dentro del contexto y desarrollo de la especialidad en la defensa de los DDHH ante los sistemas de protección internacional realizada en la Universidad Militar Nueva Granada durante el año 2011, se ha debatido acerca de las controversias que la defensa de los mismos genera como consecuencia de la interpretación discrecional o no, que se le da a los derechos de un ciudadano. Con base en ese tipo de discusiones y conclusiones analizadas durante el trasegar de la especialización, y a pesar de que los autores no son profesionales del derecho, se generó la necesidad del presente artículo, acerca de las Implicaciones de la participación de los particulares como autores, en la definición de la tortura del Código Penal Colombiano (Ley 599, 2000) y casos investigados por la justicia Colombiana como simples delitos de lesiones personales o violencia intrafamiliar que tendrían los componentes esenciales de la tortur
