The overwhelming majority of analyses on the media during the Gulf War focus on the idea of "disinformation" and the systematic alignment of the media with the allied camp. This study of the circulation of a single news item by the AFP concerning the reaction of Israel to Iraqi attacks shows how journalistic discourse was not so much a question of disinformation as of unthinking repetition. The treatment of this news item which originated in Iraq, is similar to that of items from other sources. Habit rather than contextualization of information motivates journalists evaluation and presentation of the facts

Correspondências e sinestesias quando Baudelaire aprecia Delacroix

O poeta francês Charles Baudelaire (1821-1867) foi também tradutor, ensaísta e crítico de arte. Em relação à produção poética, é considerado o precursor do simbolismo, a partir da sua obra LesFleursdu mal, de 1857; na figura do ensaísta, elaborou o conceito de modernidade, referência para a criação artística, os Estudos Literários e a Filosofia. O presente trabalho explora a influência da linguagem poética no seu trabalho de ensaísta e crítico, e vice-versa, buscando compreender a noção das "Correspondências" exposta no poema homônimo do livro de 1857. Analisaremos, com ênfase nos textos sobre a obra do pintor EugèneDelacroix (1798-1863), de que maneira as correspondências e transposições entre pintura, poesia e música já estavam presentes no olhar do jovem crítico de arte.Palavras-chave: Poesia. POÉTICAS DA ALTERIDADE E VISÕES DA AMÉRICA DO SUL E DA EUROPA EM DÉBARCADÈRES, DE JULES SUPERVIELLE

Jules Supervielle foi um poeta uruguaio de expressão francesa. Iniciou a carreira literária nas primeiras décadas do século XX, em um momento chave da reflexão sobre o fazer poético. Assim, sua obra é marcada por um ambiente de rupturas estéticas. O livro Débarcadères, publicado em 1922, tematiza a viagem entre a América do Sul e a Europa, trazendo várias paisagens desse deslocamento através dos olhos de um eu-lírico viajante. O presente trabalho irá, em um primeiro momento, apresentar o percurso de formação de Jules Supervielle, destacando um de seus projetos com Débarcadères. Em seguida, será feita uma análise temática de alguns poemas para observar de que maneira seu eu-lírico desenvolve uma poética da alteridade, aproximando-se de uma reflexão moderna em poesia. Por fim, serão analisados poemas que tematizam espaços da América do Sul e da Europa, refletindo sobre as escolhas semânticas que separam os dois continentes

Recrutamentos linguísticos utilizados no Atendimento Educacional Especializado de Língua Portuguesa para surdos: uma prática situada na Educação Básica

The objective is to investigate which linguistic uses are recruited in the context of teaching and learning of the Specialized Educational Assistance (SEA) of Portuguese Language (PL) for the deaf. This study is characterized as a case study. The results indicate that the linguistic recruitments used in the SEA of PL for the deaf in Elementary School I of the school in question refer to Libras and the Portuguese oral and written language. Also, English and Spanish emerge during interactions, manifesting themselves as a translingual, transmodal practice and crossed by digital media.El objetivo es investigar qué usos lingüísticos se reclutan en el contexto de la enseñanza y el aprendizaje del Servicio Educativo Especializado (AEE) de Lengua Portuguesa (LP) para sordos. Este trabajo se caracteriza como un estudio de caso. Los resultados indican que los reclutamientos de idiomas utilizados en el LP AEE para sordos en la Escuela Primaria I de la escuela en cuestión se refieren a Libras y al portugués y al lenguaje oral y escrito. Además, el inglés y el español surgen durante las interacciones, manifestándose como una práctica translingüe, transmodal y cruzada por los medios digitales.Objetiva-se investigar quais os usos linguísticos que são recrutados no contexto de ensino e aprendizagem do Atendimento Educacional Especializado (AEE) de Língua Portuguesa (LP) para surdos. Este trabalho caracteriza-se como um estudo de caso. Os resultados indicam que os recrutamentos linguísticos utilizados no AEE de LP para surdos no Ensino Fundamental I da escola em questão referem-se à Libras e à Língua Portuguesa oral e escrita. Modelling and experimental study of SO2 removal and NH3 recycling in an ammonia based CO2 capture process

The high NH3 loss to the gas stream (NH3 slip) is one of the major issues in the ammonia based CO2 capture technology. Meanwhile, the removal of sulphur dioxide pollutant (SO2) from flue gas is a prerequisite for many CO2 capture processes. Flue gas desulphurization (FGD) is not installed in Australian power plants and significant capital/investment costs are required to install FGD. In this study, we proposed an advanced process configuration to combine SO2 removal and NH3 recycling in one process development and solve these two problems together. A rate-based model for the system of NH3-CO2-SO2-H2O was established and employed to simulate the process flow sheet. The temperature, pH and N/S ratio profile, SO2 removal and NH3 recycling efficiency along the column were analysed. Experimental work using a bubble column was carried out to provide an initial test on the technical feasibility of the SO2 and NH3 absorption process. Both the modelling and experimental results suggest that the proposed process results in excellent removal and recovery of SO2 and NH3
