National audienceHome maintenance is a response to the care of people with loss of autonomy. The technology is now mature enough to support these people in their aging home. SUIPAD project attempts to assess the contribution and impact of some technologies for the automatic collection of data for environmental and physiological knowledge of events, activities and attitudes that characterize the actual behavior of frail people in their ordinary living environment.

Two ternary copper(ll) complexes of indomethacin [1-(4-chlorobenzoyl)-5-methoxy-2- methyl-1-H-indole-3-acetic acid] called hereafter lndo, were prepared and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The first complex Cu2(Indo)4(DMF)2 I crystallizes in space group P-1 (a = 10.829(2), b = 13.379(2), c = 16.491(3) Å; α = 105.58(2), ÎČ = 101.06(2), Îł = 106.96(2)°; V= 2104.6(6) Å3, Z= 1). The title molecule is a centrosymmetric binuclear complex, with Cu atoms bridged by the carboxylate moieties of four indomethacinate ligands. The four nearest O atoms around each Cu atom form a square planar arrangement with the square pyramidal coordination completed by the O atom of N,Nâ€Č-dimethylformamide. Daily administration for seven days of 1 mg/kg of indomethacin, I and I encapsulated into liposomes induces a weak inflammation of rat gastrointestinal tract. I was less inflammatory than indomethacin but the better protection was brought by encapsulation of the compound. This might be of interest in sustained therapies of chronic inflammatory diseases

Liquid-Crystal alignment by a nanoimprinted grating for wafer-scale fabrication of tunable devices

    No full text
International audienceA simple technology is demonstrated for wafer-scale fabrication of liquid-crystal (LC) microcells that can be integrated in active optoelectronic devices. Fabrication of 1.55”m tunable Fabry-Perot optical micro-filter arrays is achieved owing to the insertion of a single nanoimprinted polymer grating dedicated to LC alignment and to the soft thermal transfer of a dry thick resist film between two highly reflective mirrors. The filter exhibits a spectral tuning range of 102nm with only 18V applied, as well as negligible internal loss, which makes it suitable for being inserted in a laser cavity. This constitutes a key step toward large-scale integration of widely-tunable photonic devices such as VCSELs using LC technology

Mirrorless buried waveguide laser in monoclinic double tungstates fabricated by a novel combination of ion milling and liquid phase epitaxy

Buried channel waveguides were fabricated by liquid phase epitaxial growth of a lattice-matched KY0.58Gd0.22Lu0.17Tm0.03(WO4)2 film on a microstructured KY(WO4)2 substrate. Channels were transferred to the substrates by standard photolithography and Ar-ion milling. The bottom and sidewalls of the milled channels were smooth enough (rms roughness = 70 nm and 20 nm, respectively) to favour the epitaxial growth of the active layer without defects at the boundary of substrate/epitaxial layer. The refractive index contrast was sufficient to enable light confinement and guided modes with low scattering losses were observed at wavelengths between 1440 nm and 1640 nm. CW laser operation at 1840 nm at room temperature was observed with feedback provided only by Fresnel reflection at the end faces, with slope efficiencies of 4% and 9% for TE and TM polarizations, respectively
