Przykład utraty stateczności ściany frontowej pozostawionej po rozebraniu kamienicy
In this paper was presented the description of the front wall of the building which was earlier demolished. The makeshift protection of this front wall and influence of outside parameters, as for example geological, were a reason of stability loss of this wall. It’s possible that leaving this wall in such condition may lead to the building disaster.W artykule przedstawiono opis ściany frontowej budynku pozostawionej po jego rozbiórce.
Filozofia ustroju państwa i postawa wobec liberum veto marszałka nadwornego koronnego
Łukasz Opaliński zwany młodszym reprezentował jeden z najmożniejszych rodów magnackich
w Wielkopolsce i całej Rzeczpospolitej w XVII w.
a w szczególności z anarchizacji polskiego parlamentaryzmu.
stąd postulował stosowania jej wyłącznie do spraw wagi państwowej.Łukasz Opaliński, known as younger, represented one of the most powerful magnate clans in
Wielkopolska and Poland in the 17th century. Holding a high senatorial office, that of the Court
Marshal of the Crown - he made himself known as a writer and philosopher of the political system,
and also as a superb politician. Older historiographic works perceived him as a monarchist
and adherent of the successive courts. These were only the studies by Władysław Czapliński that
portrayed him as a politician who was an apologist of the political system of the Commonwealth
of Poland-Lithuania. In fact, Opaliński was a political maverick, and his views - expressed both
in his writings and political actions - resulted from the correlation of an attitude of an enlightened
magnate of mid-17th century, caring mostly about the interest of his clan, and further - that
of the state, certainly proud of the political system of his country, yet perceiving also its erosion.
Opaliński’s works in philosophy of state, notably Rozmowa plebana z ziemianinem, Obrona
Polski, and Coś nowego?, prove the broad horizon of his thoughts. The dignitary’s concepts are
innovative, and more importantly in no way unrealistic. The magnate found the system of the Commonwealth the standard, and considered the “golden liberty" of nobility the most perfect
social system, in which he was seconded by other writers of the time. Yet, Opaliński was aware
of the shortcomings resulting from the accruing “exorbitancy" and especially from the anarchisation
of the Polish parliamentary movement. He perceived the existence of liberum veto as
a necessity, however proper, yet was afraid that inappropriate people could exploit it, hence he
postulated its use only in matters of state importance.Łukasz de Bnin Opaliński war Mitglied eines der reichsten und mächtigsten Magnatengeschlechter

Wpływ treningu i biegu półmaratońskiego na prawą komorę u biegaczy amatorów
Introduction. Endurance running may lead to heart remodelling. There are little data on the right ventricular (RV) changes in amateur athletes running shorter than marathon distances.
The study aimed to investigate whether training and running a half marathon affect the anatomy and function of the RV in amateur runners and whether these changes affect the athlete's competitive performance.
Material and methods. The study included 45 recreational runners with a mean age of 32.96 (5.12) years, 27 men. Echocardiography was performed before the ten-weeks training period and before and after the half marathon run. The morphological and functional parameters of the RV were analysed, including two-dimensional, Doppler and speckle-tracking echocardiography.
Results. In training period, the RV outflow tract (27.98 [5.46] vs. 30.07 [4.90]; p = 0.003) and the RV index of myocardial performance (0.36 [0.29; 0.45] vs. 0.39 [0.33; 0.52]; p = 0.017) increased significantly and no changes were found for E/e’. After the half marathon run, the absolute value of the RV free wall global longitudinal strain increased significantly (–25.89 [3.08] vs. –27.20 [3.42]; p = 0.008). Athletes who trained more intensively during the training period achieved significantly better half marathon results (r = –0.4; p ≤ 0.05).
Conclusions. More enhanced physiological RV remodelling under exercise in amateur athletes results in better half marathon finishing times. The preparation period and 21.0975 kilometres run do not affect the diastolic function of the RV in recreational runners. The RV systolic function improves immediately after the half marathon performance.Wstęp. Biegi długodystansowe mogą prowadzić do przebudowy serca.
Materiał i metody. Analizie poddano parametry morfologiczne i czynnościowe prawej komory. Wykonano echokardiografię dwuwymiarową, dopplerowską i stosowano technikę śledzenia plamki akustycznej.
Wyniki. W okresie treningowym droga odpływu prawej komory (27,98 [5,46] vs. 30,07 [4,90]; p = 0,003) oraz wskaźnik sprawności prawej komory (0,36 [0,29; 0,45] vs. 0,39 [0,33; 0,52]; p = 0,017) wzrosły znacząco i nie stwierdzono zmian dla E/e’. Po półmaratonie wartość bezwzględna globalnego podłużnego odkształcenia wolnej ściany prawej komory istotnie wzrosła (–25,89 [3,08] vs. –27,20 [3,42]; p = 0,008). Sportowcy, którzy w okresie treningowym trenowali intensywniej, osiągnęli istotnie lepsze wyniki w półmaratonie (r = –0,4; p ≤ 0,05).
Wnioski.
Library 2.0: the effectiveness of social media as a marketing tool for libraries in educational institutions
In an attempt to market their services and connect with potential users, and particularly young people, many libraries are opening accounts on social media platforms. Research suggests a contradiction between the advice relating to marketing and that regarding the use of social media in libraries, with the former emphasising the importance of the user at the centre of all considerations and the latter placing library staff as central to decisions. In this work we attempt to re-address this imbalance by surveying the current state of library activity on Twitter and, by means of questionnaires, investigate the experiences and motivations of librarians (n=58) in using social media and whether students (n=498) are willing to engage with the library in this manner and why. Our findings confirm that libraries in the sector are indeed struggling to foster interest in their social media activities and go some way to understanding why this is so, leading to a number of conclusions and recommendations for practitioners
Novel multiple sclerosis susceptibility loci implicated in epigenetic regulation
We conducted a genome-wide association study (GWAS) on multiple sclerosis (MS) susceptibility in German cohorts with 4888 cases and 10,395 controls. In addition to associations within the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) region, 15 non-MHC loci reached genome-wide significance. Four of these loci are novel MS susceptibility loci. They map to the genes L3MBTL3, MAZ, ERG, and SHMT1. The lead variant at SHMT1 was replicated in an independent Sardinian cohort. Products of the genes L3MBTL3, MAZ, and ERG play important roles in immune cell regulation. SHMT1 encodes a serine hydroxymethyltransferase catalyzing the transfer of a carbon unit to the folate cycle. This reaction is required for regulation of methylation homeostasis, which is important for establishment and maintenance of epigenetic signatures. Our GWAS approach in a defined population with limited genetic substructure detected associations not found in larger, more heterogeneous cohorts, thus providing new clues regarding MS pathogenesis
