Based on the identification of a new multimethod tool necessity, a new tool called Eyeface has been created by combining two different devices: the Eye-tracking and the Facereader. This research work analyses a new multimethod tool to evaluate the user experience perception in the conceptualisation phase within the experience design process. To this end, an experiment has been carried out analysing the correlation between the Eyeface and the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule – Expanded Form (PANAS-X) evaluation tool. The result of this study showed a high similarity between each devicés results, and thus concluded that the Eyeface fits as a concept evaluation tool within the experience design process

The patient underwent a bilateral necrotic bone debridement and core decompression (CD) surgery with injectable synthetic bone graft, which unfortunately caused a pulmonary injectable bone graft substitute embolism

Marine Biocatalysts: Enzymatic Features and Applications

    Get PDF
In several recent reports related to biocatalysis the enormous pool of biodiversity found in marine ecosystems is considered a profitable natural reservoir for acquiring an inventory of useful biocatalysts. These enzymes are characterized by well-known habitat-related features such as salt tolerance, hyperthermostability, barophilicity and cold adaptivity. In addition, their novel chemical and stereochemical characteristics increase the interest of biocatalysis practitioners both in academia and research industry. In this review, starting from the analysis of these featuring habitat-related properties, important examples of marine enzymes in biocatalysis will be reported. Completion of this report is devoted to the analysis of novel chemical and stereochemical biodiversity offered by marine biocatalysts with particular emphasis on current or potential applications of these enzymes in chemical and pharmaceutical fields. The analysis of literature cited here and the many published patent applications concerning the use of marine enzymes supports the view that these biocatalysts are just waiting to be discovered, reflecting the importance of the marine environment. The potential of this habitat should be thoroughly explored and possibly the way to access useful biocatalysts should avoid destructive large-scale collections of marine biomass for enzyme production. These two aspects are day by day increasing in interest and a future increase in the use of marine enzymes in biocatalysis should be expected

Trans-ancestry meta-analyses identify rare and common variants associated with blood pressure and hypertension

High blood pressure is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease and premature death. However, there is limited knowledge on specific causal genes and pathways. To better understand the genetics of blood pressure, we genotyped 242,296 rare, low-frequency and common genetic variants in up to ~192,000 individuals, and used ~155,063 samples for independent replication. We identified 31 novel blood pressure or hypertension associated genetic regions in the general population, including three rare missense variants in RBM47, COL21A1 and RRAS with larger effects (>1.5mmHg/allele) than common variants. Multiple rare, nonsense and missense variant associations were found in A2ML1 and a low-frequency nonsense variant in ENPEP was identified. Our data extend the spectrum of allelic variation underlying blood pressure traits and hypertension, provide new insights into the pathophysiology of hypertension and indicate new targets for clinical intervention

Design of a new product to make the most of food at home: an Experience Design approach

    No full text
The experiences are becoming the new owners of the economic value, due to the new socioeconomic context. More and more companies are using experience driven methodologies in order to get a better understanding of the feelings, needs and emotional behaviour of the users. This research work aims to find a solution to home waste prevention and management, and in order to get that purpose, it is designed a new product using a experience design methodology. This communication explains the process and tools that are used in the analysis phase within this specific experience design development. As a result, we get that for this kind of projects, the experience design approach allow getting a much better understanding of human emotional triggers and we see the potential of experience design in order to get new and innovative products.Diseinuaren jarduna inguruarekin batera garatzen den alorra izanik, gaur egungo kontestu sozioekonomikoak, esperientzietan oinarritutako diseinuen sorrera ekarri du. Balore ekonomikoa produktu eta zerbitzuetatik, esperientzietara garraiatzen ari da eta berrikuntza kasu askotan hontan oinarritzen hasi da. Estrategiak, erabiltzaileen beharrizanak modu eraginkor eta sakonago batean lantzea ahalbideratzen du eta lotura emozional eraginkorragoa lortzen da. Ikerketa lan honetan esperientzien diseinua ardatz hartuta, zaborren sorrera eta kudeaketarekin lotuta dagoen arazoari soluzio bat aurkitu nahi zaio. Eta horretarako, esperientziak diseinatzeko metodologia bat erabili da. Artikulu honek, proiektuan erabili den diseinu prozesuaren analisi fasea deskribatzen du eta esperientzia diseinuaren metodologiaren baitan erabili diren pausu eta erramintak azaltzen ditu. Emaitza gisa, esperientzien diseinua ardatz duen prozesuak ekarri ditzazkeen aukerak eta pertsonen motibazio eta funtsezko beharrizanak aztertzearen garrantzia azaleratzen da
