Characterisation and impact of non-uniformity on multi-junction solar cells (MJSC) caused by concentrator optics

In this work, it has been developed a method to generate non-homogeneous light patterns on multi-junction solar cells. These patterns have been generated modifying the distance between the CPV receiver and the primary optics, which is based on a Fresnel lens. In order to diminish the impact of other variables, the incident spectrum, laboratory temperature and effective concentration have been kept constant: SMRtop-mid = 1 ± 0.02, 25 ± 0.5ºC and 380 ± 3 suns, respectively. The light patterns on the top and middle subcells are measured using a CCD camera and band-pass filters. Results show that the electrical performance of the solar cells depends on the spatial and spectral profiles. The present work introduces a procedure to characterise and evaluate the impact of non-uniformities on the output of multi-junction solar cells. Nevertheless, this work is not intended to predict the actual output of the cell as a function of the light profiles, but to provide indications for possible underlying mechanisms.This work is partially funded by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and Spanish Economy Ministry, grant number ENE2016-78251-

Deep Learning for Diagonal Earlobe Crease Detection

An article published on Medical News Today in June 2022 presented a fundamental question in its title: Can an earlobe crease predict heart attacks? The author explained that end arteries supply the heart and ears. In other words, if they lose blood supply, no other arteries can take over, resulting in tissue damage. Consequently, some earlobes have a diagonal crease, line, or deep fold that resembles a wrinkle. In this paper, we take a step toward detecting this specific marker, commonly known as DELC or Frank's Sign. For this reason, we have made the first DELC dataset available to the public. In addition, we have investigated the performance of numerous cutting-edge backbones on annotated photos. Experimentally, we demonstrate that it is possible to solve this challenge by combining pre-trained encoders with a customized classifier to achieve 97.7% accuracy. El control interno en el proceso de contratación de bienes y servicios de la Municipalidad Distrital de Tongod - 2021

Esta investigación tiene como titulo el Control Interno en el proceso de Contratación de bienes y servicios de la Municipalidad Distrital de Tongod - 2021, teniendo como objetivo general “Evaluar el control interno en el proceso de Contratación de bienes y servicios de la Municipalidad Distrital de Tongod – 2021”, por ello se desarrolló una investigación descriptiva con un enfoque mixto, a través del instrumento el cuestionario, guía de entrevista y revisión documentaria, cuyo resultado mostró que el control interno, modelo COSO 2013, en el proceso de Contratación de bienes y servicios de la Municipalidad Distrital de Tongod - 2021, demostró la hipótesis de investigación, concluyendo que el control interno en el proceso de Contratación de bienes y servicios de la Municipalidad Distrital de Tongod - 2021, es deficiente, obteniendo una ponderación de 37%, el cual indica que la entidad, al efectuar la aplicación del sistema de control interno en el proceso de contrataciones de bienes y servicios no consiguió cumplir con los objetivos institucionales

Spectral nature of soiling and its impact on multi-junction based concentrator systems

Soiling, which consists in the dust, dirt and particles accumulated on the surface of conventional or concentrator photovoltaic modules, absorbs, scatters, and reflects part of the incoming sunlight. Therefore, it reduces the amount of energy converted by the semiconductor solar cells. This work focuses on the effect of soiling on the performance of multi-junction (MJ) cells, widely used in concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) applications. Novel indexes, useful to quantify the spectral impact of soiling are introduced, and their meanings are discussed. The results of a one-year experimental investigation conducted in Spain are presented and are used to discuss how soiling impacts each of the subcells of a MJ cell, as well as in the cell current-matching. Ideal conditions for the mitigation of soiling are found in blue-rich environments, where the higher light intensity at the shorter wavelengths can limit the impact of soiling on the overall production of the CPV system

MACiE: exploring the diversity of biochemical reactions

MACiE (which stands for Mechanism, Annotation and Classification in Enzymes) is a database of enzyme reaction mechanisms, and can be accessed from http://www.ebi.ac.uk/thornton-srv/databases/MACiE/. This article presents the release of Version 3 of MACiE, which not only extends the dataset to 335 entries, covering 182 of the EC sub-subclasses with a crystal structure available (∼90%), but also incorporates greater chemical and structural detail. This version of MACiE represents a shift in emphasis for new entries, from non-homologous representatives covering EC reaction space to enzymes with mechanisms of interest to our users and collaborators with a view to exploring the chemical diversity of life. We present new tools for exploring the data in MACiE and comparing entries as well as new analyses of the data and new searches, many of which can now be accessed via dedicated Perl scripts

Innovaciones en centros educativos vulnerables: liceos que optimizan la gestión para mejorar los aprendizajes de sus estudiantes

Un equipo universitario multidisciplinario ha desarrollado una innovación integral en cuatro establecimientos educacionales secundarios, a partir del diseño, instalación y consolidación de procesos autosustentables en la gestión directiva, pedagógica y de convivencia e inclusión, con el propósito de promover un mejoramiento significativo en la calidad de los aprendizajes de los estudiantes de sectores sociales de alta vulnerabilidad. Este programa de asesoría se ha llevado a cabo a través de la implementación de un plan de acción que consideró principalmente a los directivos, los docentes y los estudiantes. Se plantearon reuniones periódicas con los equipos directivos, entrevistas y capacitación docente en metodologías participativas, prácticas evaluativas y utilización de tecnologías de información y comunicación. Además, se trabajó directamente con los estudiantes por medio de talleres, charlas y entrevistas. Dentro de los resultados de esta asesoría se destacan: la apropiación de un plan de gestión por parte de los directivos, el mejoramiento de las prácticas docentes y una mayor disposición hacia los aprendizajes por parte de los estudiantes que participaron en los programas orientados hacia ellos, además de una mejor convivencia entre los estudiantes y entre éstos y los docente
