Quantitative quality indicators for statistics – an application to euro area balance of payment statistics

Quality is a subjective notion and encompasses all aspects of how well a product meets users’ needs. It is inherently a multi-faceted concept that cannot be easily defined; any chosen definition is likely to change over time as new aspects gain importance following the evolving users’ needs. The purpose of this paper is threefold; (1) to present a number of quantitative quality indicators, (2) to apply them to measure the quality of balance of payments (b.o.p.) data at the euro area level, and (3) to identify various aspects of data quality that may be enhanced, together with their interrelations with other quality dimensions. The indicators used are compatible with the IMF Data Quality Assessment Framework (DQAF), as defined for b.o.p. statistics, focusing mainly on revisions and consistency. The results obtained from such quantitative indicators may help compilers to set priorities in order to improve the quality of the euro area data still further in dimensions such as accuracy, reliability and serviceability. Additionally, this assessment may help users to understand better the quality of the data, to anticipate the possible size and direction of the forthcoming revisions, and to evaluate the impact of using different datasets in their analysis.

KORELASI ANTARA RELIGIUSITAS DENGAN GRATITUDE (KEBERSYUKURAN) PADA MAHASISWA PENERIMA BANTUAN BIAYA PENDIDIKAN BIDIKMISI DI UNIVERSITAS PENDIDIKAN INDONESIA

The problems of Bidikmisi students at Indonesia University of Education are low GPA scores, slow completion of studies, and some even cannot complete their studies. That problem can be caused by ungratefulness. One of the factors that causes gratitude is religiosity. For this reason, this study aims to determine how much the relationship between religiosity and gratitude for Bidikmisi students at Indonesia University of Education. The method of this research is correlational research. The subjects in this study were 100 Bidikmisi students studying at Indonesia University of Education. The correlation technique used is the Pearson Product Moment correlation technique. The results of this study indicate that religiosity is significantly correlated with gratitude in Bidikmisi students

    Logical operations with Localized Structures

    Get PDF
We show how to exploit excitable regimes mediated by localized structures (LS) to perform AND, OR, and NOT logical operations providing full logical functionality. Our scheme is general and can be implemented in any physical system displaying LS. In particular, LS in nonlinear photonic devices can be used for all-optical computing applications where several reconfigurable logic gates can be implemented in the transverse plane of a single device, allowing for parallel computing.Comment: 11 pages, 6 figure

Strings in AdS_4 x CP^3, Wilson loops in N=6 super Chern-Simons-matter and Bremsstrahlung functions

We find 1/6 BPS string configurations in AdS_4 x CP^3, which we identify as the duals of certain 1/6 BPS circular Wilson loops in N=6 super Chern-Simons-matter gauge theory. We use our results to verify -in the strong coupling limit- a proposal made in arXiv:1402.4128 for a relation between the expectation value of these Wilson loops and the Bremsstrahlung function from deforming 1/2 BPS Wilson lines with a cusp. We also derive an analogous relation between the expectation value of some particular 1/12 BPS Wilson loops and the Bremsstrahlung function from deforming 1/6 BPS Wilson lines with an internal space cusp.Comment: 25 pages, 1 figures; v2 author ordering correcte

Semiclassical partition function for strings dual to Wilson loops with small cusps in ABJM

    Get PDF
We compute the 1-loop partition function for strings in AdS4×CP3AdS_4\times\mathbb{CP}^3, whose worldsheets end along a line with small cusp angles in the boundary of AdS. We obtain these 1-loop results in terms of the vacuum energy for on-shell modes. Our results verify the proposal by Lewkowycz and Maldacena in arXiv:1312.5682 for the exact Bremsstrahlung function up to the next to leading order in the strong coupling expansion. The agreement is observed for cusps distorting either the 1/2 BPS or the 1/6 BPS Wilson line.Comment: 28 page

Stable droplets and growth laws close to the modulational instability of a domain wall

    Get PDF
We consider the curvature driven dynamics of a domain wall separating two equivalent states in systems displaying a modulational instability of a flat front. We derive an amplitude equation for the dynamics of the curvature close to the bifurcation point from growing to schrinking circular droplets. We predict the existence of stable droplets with a radius RR that diverges at the bifurcation point, where a curvature driven growth law R(t)≈t1/4R(t) \approx t^{1/4} is obtained. Our general analytical predictions, which are valid for a wide variety of systems including models of nonlinear optical cavities and reaction-diffusion systems, are illustrated in the parametrically driven complex Ginzburg-Landau equation.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure

Circular Wilson loops in defect conformal field theory

    Get PDF
We study a D3-D5 system dual to a conformal field theory with a codimension-one defect that separates regions where the ranks of the gauge groups differ by k. With the help of this additional parameter, as observed by Nagasaki, Tanida and Yamaguchi, one can define a double scaling limit in which the quantum corrections are organized in powers of λ/k2, which should allow to extrapolate results between weak and strong coupling regimes. In particular we consider a radius R circular Wilson loop placed at a distance L, whose internal space orientation is given by an angle χ. We compute its vacuum expectation value and show that, in the double scaling limit and for small χ and small L/R, weak coupling results can be extrapolated to the strong coupling limit.Fil: Aguilera Damia, JeremĂas.
