    PEER-TUTORIAL PROJECT IN INCREASING STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENT IN SPEAKING SKILL

    Abstract: The objectives of this research are to increase the students’ speaking skill in academic presentation and to elaborate the students’ attitude in Seminar on ELT class at English Education Study Program of Cokroaminoto Palopo University. This research applied Classroom Action Research (CAR) with consists of three cycles. Each cycle consists of four steps. Those are Planning, Acting, Observing, and Reflecting. In cycle one, the researcher took one of seven classes purposively. This class has 12 students, Eight students as the object of this research sample and 4 students as the tutor. The reseacher found it was so hard for the tutor to give tutorial for more than one member, so, the researcher took 4 tutor from other class. The result of this research shows that the students’ ability in delivering presentation was increase. It can be proven by seeing the mean score of cycle one 44.7 and cycle two 70.8. Also, the researcher found that the students’ way in learning presentation in Seminar on ELT class was learning by heart. They used to memorize the words that they would present in fron of their audience rather than practice their pronunciation and body language.     The Challenges Faced by the Model Teachers in Implementing Lesson Study

    Previous studies have shown that the implementation of Lesson Study can give a good impact on both teachers and students. Lesson Study can help them binding up as a Learning Community in order to improve their self-development in teaching and learning. In addition, teachers and students prefer Lesson Study to be a sustainable activity in school. However, although Lesson Study has given a positive value on its practices, it does not mean that there are no challenges. The main purpose of this study is trying to reveal the challenges faced by the model teacher while implementing of Lesson Study practices. This study was a descriptive study, where the data were collected by interviewing 11 model teachers who teach in four different schools. The interview is given after conducting Lesson Study practices that cover three phases: PLAN, DO and SEE. The findings reveal that most of the model teachers faced challenges in PLAN phase and DO phase. In PLAN phase, model teachers stated that they find it difficult to develop Chapter Design because they did not understand well how to put their idea. They also find it difficult to adapt what they have written in Chapter Design and their activity when doing Open Class. In DO phase, most of model teachers stated that basically Lesson Study has a big impact in increasing their students’ understanding about learning materials, but the students were not active enough in the teaching and learning process. It means that the model teachers have to do a bigger effort to make their students more active in the classroom activities

    Analisis Efektivitas Penerimaan Anggaran Pendapatan dan Belanja Daerah Kota Parepare di Kota Parepare

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Tingkat Efektivitas Penerimaan Anggaran Pendapatan dan Belanja Daerah Pemda Kota Parepare. Populasinya adalah seluruh laporan keuangan daerah yang menyangkut penerimaan APBD Pemda kota Parepare selama lima tahun terakhir dan sampelnya adalah data target dan realisasi APBD Pemda kota Parepare pada lima tahun terakhir. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah dokumentasi dan wawancara. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan analisis rumus efektivitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat efektivitas penerimaan anggaran pendapatan dan belanja daerah kota Parepare berdasarkan hasil analisis tahun 2010 sebesar 85,01%, tahun 2011 sebesar 82,00%, tahun 2012 sebesar 88,49%, tahun 2013 sebesar 95,00%, dan tahun 2014 sebesar 102,21% berada pada interval 90%-100% dimana berdasarkan interval/rentang pengkategorian yang telah ditetapkan sebelumnya tersebut menunjukkan bahwa tingkat efektivitas penerimaan anggaran pendapatan dan belanja daerah kota Parepare tergolong dalam kategori Efektif.     THE APPLICATION OF LESSON STUDY ACTIVITY IN PALOPO

    This paper aimed the description of lesson study activities at University of Cokroaminoto Palopo. The researcher used descriptive research design. The research question of this research is what is the practice of lesson study at Cokroaminoto Palopo University? The researcher used purposive sampling in choosing the sample. There are nine lecturers as the sample of this research. These nine lecturers comes from different class i.e. science and social class. They are the lecturers of Indonesia Language, English, Science, Math, and PPKn. As a result, this paper shows us that lecturers did three phases of lesson study, those are: plan, do, and see. In plan phase, the lecturers’ do some revision of their teaching plan and in do phases; moreover some of the lecturers have role as the observer for the junior high schools classes

    RELEVANCY THE COMPONENTS OF THE ENGLISH LESSON PLAN

    Harmer (2007, p.156) said that “For teachers, plan gives the lesson a framework, an overall shape”. It means that lesson plan guiding teachers to convey the teaching-learning activities. Teachers’ competence in designing lesson is essential in order to plan the strategy to improve the quality of teaching learning activity. Relevancy of lesson plans to the regulation issued by government needed in order to gain the goals of National Education. Permendikbud No. 22 Tahun 2016 is issued by Indonesian government to regulate the Standar Proses. The regulation mentions components of lesson plan based on 2013 curriculum to lead teachers in designing lesson plan. A school supervisor as the researcher has a task to observe and study teacher lesson plans whether it is relevant or not. She collected the data from ten English teacher lesson plans then analyse the relevancy and interviewed teachers to confirm the findings.  The result of document analysis revealed that all lesson plans mentioned every components of lesson plans which are indicators and basic competences, objectives, materials, method, media, activities, and assessment; but when it was analysed based on the principles of each component based on Permendikbud Nomor 22 Tahun 2016 the quality of each components were varies. The result of the research showed that the lesson plans made by English teacher consisted all complements completely based on 2013 curriculum but there were some components of lesson plan were not relevant. The material sources and activity (opening, core and closing activity) were relevant; almost all lesson plans mentioned well. The component with the lowest relevant were indicator and assessment. In indicator components, most of the teachers did not know how to differentiate operational verb of cognitive and psychomotor domain and in assessment component; most of lesson plans did not stated character instrument and assessing rubric for psychomotor skill (writing and speaking skill)

    Toko Piala Mas Samarinda merupakan salah satu agen pakaian terkemuka di Kota Samarinda yang  mempunyai banyak konsumen dari dalam dan luar kota. Hal ini melatarbelakangi peneliti untuk mengetahui strategi pemasaran yang diterapkan toko dalam mencapai kesuksesan tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh konsumen Toko Piala Mas Samarinda pada periode Maret 2021. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 80 responden. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan Skala Likert, kuesioner, dan daftar pernyataan. Metode analisis pada penelitian ini yaitu uji validitas, uji reliabilitas, regresi linier berganda dan uji hipotesis untuk mengetahui seberapa besar pengaruh variabel produk, harga, lokasi, dan promosi terhadap keputusan pembelian pada Toko Piala Mas Samarinda dengan menggunakan Program SPSS Versi 22.0. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa produk berpengaruh signifikan terhadap keputusan pembelian pada Toko Piala Mas Samarinda. Sedangkan, variabel harga, lokasi, dan promosi tidak berpengaruh terhadap keputusan pembelian pada Toko Piala Mas Samarinda. Secara simultan, variabel marketing mix syariah berpengaruh terhadap keputusan pembelian pada Toko Piala Mas Samarinda. Sebesar 54,7% variabel keputusan pembelian dipengaruhi oleh variabel produk, harga, lokasi, dan promosi, sedangkan sisanya yaitu sebesar 45,3% dipengaruhi oleh variabel lain

    THE ROOT CAUSES AND NEXUS OF MILITANT ISLAMIC MOVEMENTS IN INDONESIA: CASE STUDIES OF DARUL ISLAM AND JEMAAH ISLAMIYAH

    Many scholars believe that every religion has its peaceful interpretation as well as violent practices. Yet, this article elaborates more on the Islamic radical movements in Indonesia, particularly on the questions of what factors have triggered them to conduct such violence, how they linked each other and what action should be taken by the Indonesian government to counter-terrorism. To answer the question, the paper will focus on the ideology part and organization network of Darul Islam (DI) and Jemaah Islamiyah (JI), which shared similar ideology, network and methods of recruitment. Authors argue that ideology and organization become vital elements for DI and JI, in which the government, coupled with all stakeholders, should pay more attention if they want to eradicate violence in the name of religion. Although there is “no prescription fits all†in eradicating terrorism, the ability to understand the root causes and organization network of terrorism in Indonesia will help the government and all stakeholders to establish a proper strategy.   Key words: Counter-terrorism, salafi jihadism, Darul Islam, Jemaah Islamiyah     Abstrak   Banyak pengamat percaya bahwa setiap agama mengandung interpretasi damai sekaligus juga tindak kekerasan. Namun, artikel ini akan mengulas lebih banyak tentang gerakan radikal Islam di Indonesia, terutama yang terkait dengan faktor-faktor apa saja yang mendorong mereka melakukan aksi kekerasan, bagaimana kelompok-kelompok tersebut saling memiliki keterkaitan dan tindakan apa yang perlu diambil oleh pemerintah Indonesia dalam melakukan kontra-terorisme. Untuk menjawab pertanyaan tersebut, paper ini akan menjelaskan ideologi dan jaringan organisasi dari Darul Islam (DI) dan Jemaah Islamiyah (JI), di mana keduanya memiliki kemiripan termasuk juga dalam metode rekrutmen. Penulis berpendapat bahwa ideologi dan organisasi merupakan elemen penting bagi DI dan JI. Oleh karena itu, pemerintah dan seluruh elemen masyarakat harus memperhatikan hal ini jika ingin memberantas kekerasan atas nama agama. Walaupun tidak ada “resep ampuh†yang dapat mengatasi terorisme, kemampuan untuk memahami akar permasalahan dan jaringan organisasi kelompok terorisme di Indonesia akan membantu pemerintah dan seluruh elemen masyarakat untuk menyusun strategi yang tepat.   Kata Kunci: Counter-terrorism, salafi jihadisme, Darul Islam, Jemaah Islamiya
