    Association of Data Mining and healthcare domain: Issues and current state of the art

    Data mining has been used prosperously in the favorably perceived areas such as e- business, marketing and retail because of which it is now applicable in knowledge discovery in databases (KDD) in many industrial areas and economy. Data mining is mainly gaining its importance and usage in the areas of medicine and public health. In this paper the investigation of present methods of KDD, applying data mining methods for healthcare and public health has been discussed. The problems and difficulties related to data mining and healthcare in practice are also mentioned. In survey, the use of data mining has increased, along with examination of healthcare institutions so that the health policy prepared is the best, perceive disease causes and protect deaths in hospital and discover the dishonest insurance declaration.stabilization of continuous and fed-batch cultivation processes. In the paper are investigated Monod-Wang kinetic model and it singular Monod form. The simpler Monod and Monod-Wang models are restricted forms of Wang-Yerusalimsky model. The Wang-Yerusalimsky kinetic model could be accepted as a common model. A second order sliding mode is investigated and compared with standard sliding mode algorithms. The sliding mode control permits to solve the control problems with smaller quantity of priory information and elimination of parameters and measurements noises

    Pharmaceutico analytical study of Shodhita Shilajatu

    Background: Shilajatu or Adrija is one of the Maharasa, which is considered as a wonderful medicine in Ayurveda. It is named as it comes out of the stones heated by the sun in summer in the form of thick blackish exudation having many shades. Since it contain stone, mud, wood, sand and various physical and metallic impurities, Shodhana (Purification) of Shilajatu is a mandatory procedure. It has been used as a prime ingredient in many formulations mainly for Prameha, Sotha, Pandu Roga, Kshaya, Swasa, Pliha Vrudhi, Jwara, Agnimandya, Apasmara, etc. Objectives: Shodhana of Ashudha Shilajatu and Physico chemical analysis of Shodhita Shilajatu. Materials & Methods: Bhringaraja Swarasa for Shodhana of Shilajatu. Results:It took 8 days for completion of Shilajatu Shodhana. XRD Analysis report indicates that the sample Shilajatu was Amorphous material. Conclusion: Total yield of Shodhita Shilajatu was 99.6%. The Sample of Shilajatu was found to be Amorphous material in XRD Analysis hence crystal structure was not identified

    Evaluation of the Control of Water Sanitation and Hygiene Related Disease Through Community Hygiene Club Intervention in Rwanda

    This article consists of a review article reporting the results of previous evaluations of the control of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) related disease through the Community Hygiene Club (CHC) intervention from 2010 to 2020. CHC constitutes the main intervention for the control of WASH-related disease in Rwanda and is implemented countrywide. The study objective was to evaluate if the CHC intervention significantly reduced the prevalence of WASH-related disease after 10 years of its implementation in Rwanda. The study utilized online existing policy documents, research reports, and experiences on the CHC intervention in Rwanda published between 2010 and 2020. We selected and reviewed 12 published documents, and the evaluation followed the steps proposed by ACHI (2020) Health Impact Assessment (HIA) and related frameworks of effective implementation of community health interventions. The primary outcome measure used was the reduction of WASH-related disease while the secondary outcome measure used was the increase of household WASH practices at less than a 5% level of statistical significance. We also described the structure and the implementation process of the CHC intervention. From the case studies where frameworks of effective implementation of community health interventions were applied, the study results showed the intervention significantly (a) increased households’ WASH practices and (b) reduced WASH-related disease. Due to limited publications in the research area and the lack of association of the WASH-related diseases and practices to the CHC intervention’s evaluation for most of published research reports, we recommend additional field data for an extended conclusion and its generalization in Rwanda. The study highlights the need to use appropriate frameworks in the evaluation of community health interventions to (a) attribute the outcome to the intervention and (b) easily identify the shortcomings in case of failure to get expected outcomes

    Acute Kidney Injury in Patients with COVID – 19 Infection: Α Tertiary Referral Hospital Experience

    The emersion of the new coronavirus SARS COV 2 (Severe Acute Respiratory SyndromeCoronavirus 2) was rapidly characterized as a pandemic by WHO. The majormanifestation of the virus is respiratory distress; however, the involvement of other organsshould not be overlooked. The kidney is one of the most important target organsof the specific virus with acute kidney injury (AKI) described in 5-36% of COVIDpositive patients and an average 25% within the severely ill.Purp ose: The purpose of this study was to consider the incidence of AKI in patientswith COVID 19 in our cohort and to better understand risk factors associated withAKI. Further, we wanted to investigate the impact of AKI on survival and in hospitalmortality.Methods: Patients admitted to Evagelismos General Hospital with confirmed COVID-19 infection from 11th March until 22th May were investigated. Patients 18 yearsold as well as transplanted patients were excluded from this study. AKI was definedaccording to the AKI criteria.Results : From 99 patients with COVID-19 infection, AKI occurred in 41 (41.4%).A total of 44 patients (44.4%) were admitted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 31 ofthem (70.5%) developed AKI. Of the 44 patients with AKI, 16 (39%) required renalreplacement therapy. Hospital mortality, in total, was 16.2% (37% among patientswith AKI versus 0.02% among those without AKI, p=0.000).Conclusion: AKI was common among patients hospitalized with COVID 19. AKIwas associated with older age, clinical severity and existing CKD

    30 inch Roll-Based Production of High-Quality Graphene Films for Flexible Transparent Electrodes

    We report that 30-inch scale multiple roll-to-roll transfer and wet chemical doping considerably enhance the electrical properties of the graphene films grown on roll-type Cu substrates by chemical vapor deposition. The resulting graphene films shows a sheet resistance as low as ~30 Ohm/sq at ~90 % transparency which is superior to commercial transparent electrodes such as indium tin oxides (ITO). The monolayer of graphene shows sheet resistances as low as ~125 Ohm/sq with 97.4% optical transmittance and half-integer quantum Hall effect, indicating the high-quality of these graphene films. As a practical application, we also fabricated a touch screen panel device based on the graphene transparent electrodes, showing extraordinary mechanical and electrical performances

    The Intermediate Scale MSSM, the Higgs Mass and F-theory Unification

    Even if SUSY is not present at the Electro-Weak scale, string theory suggests its presence at some scale M_{SS} below the string scale M_s to guarantee the absence of tachyons. We explore the possible value of M_{SS} consistent with gauge coupling unification and known sources of SUSY breaking in string theory. Within F-theory SU(5) unification these two requirements fix M_{SS} ~ 5 x 10^{10} GeV at an intermediate scale and a unification scale M_c ~ 3 x 10^{14} GeV. As a direct consequence one also predicts the vanishing of the quartic Higgs SM self-coupling at M_{SS} ~10^{11} GeV. This is tantalizingly consistent with recent LHC hints of a Higgs mass in the region 124-126 GeV. With such a low unification scale M_c ~ 3 x 10^{14} GeV one may worry about too fast proton decay via dimension 6 operators. However in the F-theory GUT context SU(5) is broken to the SM via hypercharge flux. We show that this hypercharge flux deforms the SM fermion wave functions leading to a suppression, avoiding in this way the strong experimental proton decay constraints. In these constructions there is generically an axion with a scale of size f_a ~ M_c/(4\pi)^2 ~ 10^{12} GeV which could solve the strong CP problem and provide for the observed dark matter. The prize to pay for these attractive features is to assume that the hierarchy problem is solved due to anthropic selection in a string landscape.Comment: 48 pages, 8 figures. v3: further minor correction
