The graphing calculator as an instrument of semiotic mediation in the construction of the function concept

UID/CED/02861/2016According to some authors, the graphing calculator facilitates the students' ability to reflect and generalize, when involved in performing exploratory tasks, leading them to the construction of mathematical knowledge (Doorman, Drijvers, Dekker, Heuvel-Panhuizen, Lange e Wijers, 2007). We present the resolution of the task: "My hand", with the graphing calculator, whose purpose was to consolidate the concept of function and to understand when a cartesian graph corresponds to the representation of a function. On the other hand, looking at the artifact, the graphing calculator, as a instrument of semiotic mediation, we intend to analyze how the transition from personal meanings to mathematical meanings (Mariotti, 2018) was developed, in the resolution of the task.publishersversionpublishe

Pretende-se situar a figura de Frei Manuel do Cenáculo (1724-1814), eclesiástico, historia­dor, político, reformador e filósofo no Portugal de Setecentos. Destaca-se a sua actividade como humanista, arqueólogo e bibliófilo, sem esquecer o seu protagonismo em todas as reformas do ensino. Lesão Incomum da Base do Crânio: Hemangiopericitoma da Fossa Craniana Média

Meningioma is the most common intracranial tumor affecting the skull base and the diagnosis is usually straightforward on imaging studies. However, other lesions can appear similar on imaging studies. A 60 year-old-man presented with non-specific neurological symptoms, including memory loss and behavioral changes. CT and MR imaging disclosed an extra-axial, dural-based lesion in the middle cranial fossa. The lesion was remarkable for its hypervascular nature with strong and early contrast enhancement, large peripheral flow voids and vasogenic edema of the adjacent brain parenchyma. Although the most common dural-based lesion of the CNS is the meningioma, radiologists should be aware of other differential diagnoses, particularly when facing atypical imaging features. These comprise metastases, lymphoma and leukemia, histiocytic lesions, sarcoidosis and hemangiopericytoma. These lesions have a significant impact on patient´s management. Based on imaging findings we were able to suggest the diagnosis of hemangiopericytoma and the patient was managed accordingly.O meningioma é o tumor intracraniano mais comum na base do crânio e o seu diagnóstico imagiológico é habitualmente claro, mas outras lesões podem apresentar-se com achados semelhantes.Um homem de 60 anos apresentou-se com perda de memória e alterações comportamentais. Efectuou Tomografia Computorizada (TC) e Ressonância Magnética (RM) de crânio que demonstraram uma lesão extra-axial de base dural na fossa média. A lesão possuía forte realce com natureza hipervascular, vasos periféricos e edema vasogénico do parênquima cerebral adjacente.Embora a lesão de base dural mais comum do sistema nervoso central (SNC) seja o meningioma, devem-se considerar outros diagnósticos diferenciais, particularmente na presença de características de imagem atípicas. Nestes incluem-se metástases, linfoma e leucemia, lesões histiocíticas, sarcoidose e hemangiopericitoma. A mediação semiótica com a calculadora gráfica na articulação dos domínios de geometria e funções

Esta comunicação retrata a análise da resolução de uma tarefa no 7.º ano de escolaridade, com o apoio do artefacto mediador calculadora gráfica, onde se pretendeu fazer uma conexão entre os domínios de Geometria e Funções. No ambiente social da aula, objetivou-se percecionar os esquemas de uso e esquemas de ação instrumentada que emergiram na resolução da tarefa e como os mesmos contribuíram para o desenvolvimento do potencial semiótico da calculadora gráfica, consolidando-se a aprendizagem, tendo em conta a orquestração da professora na discussão coletiva. Metodologicamente optou-se por um paradigma qualitativo, de natureza interpretativa e descritiva, fundamentado num processo de Design Research, na modalidade de experiência de ensino, tendo-se apoiado num estudo de caso. A análise dos dados mostrou que os alunos transitaram facilmente entre as várias representações: geométrica, tabular, gráfica e algébrica. No entanto, a monitorização da discussão coletiva pela professora foi imprescindível para a construção do conhecimento matemático.publishersversionpublishe

Natural extracts into chitosan nanocarriers for rosmarinic acid drug delivery

Context: Nanotechnology can be applied to deliver and protect antioxidants in order to control the oxidative stress phenomena in several chronic pathologies. Chitosan (CS) nanoparticles are biodegradable carriers that may protect antioxidants with potent biological activity such as rosmarinic acid (RA) in Salvia officinalis (sage) and Satureja montana (savory) extracts for safe and innovative therapies. Objective: Development and characterization of CS nanoparticles as a stable and protective vehicle to deliver RA for medical applications using natural extracts as sage and savory. Materials and methods: Antioxidant-CS based nanoparticles were prepared by ionic gelation with sodium tripolyphosphate (TPP), at pH 5.8 with a mass ratio of 7:1 (CS:TPP), with a theoretical antioxidant-CS loading of 40-50%. The nanoparticles were then characterized by different methods such as photon correlation spectroscopy, laser Doppler anemometry, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR), high-performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC), association efficiency, and antioxidant activity. Results and discussion: Individual and small sizing nanoparticles, around 300 nm, were obtained. SEM confirmed smooth and spherical nanoparticles after freeze-drying. No chemical interactions were found between antioxidants and CS, after encapsulation, by DSC and FTIR. The association efficiency was 51.2% for RA (with 40% loading) and 96.1 and 98.2% for sage and savory nanoparticles, respectively (both with 50% loading). Antioxidant activity values were higher than 0.0348 eq [Asc. Ac.] g/L/g extract and 0.4251 μmol/eq Trolox/g extract. Mestrado em Ciências da Educação - Administração e Políticas EducativasO presente trabalho propõe-se apresentar uma investigação qualitativa que procurou avaliar o impacte decorrente da aplicação pela Inspecção-Geral da Educação do Programa de Avaliação Externa das Escolas, que decorre desde 2006, em Portugal. Esta investigação baseou-se, fundamentalmente, na auscultação das opiniões dos docentes num Agrupamento de Escolas intervencionado no âmbito do referido programa inspectivo. Este trabalho, procura identificar algumas evidências dos efeitos da Avaliação Externa das Escolas no estabelecimento de ensino que a ela foram sujeitos ao nível do desenvolvimento organizacional e da melhoria da qualidade do processo de ensino aprendizagem.The present dissertation / work purposes to present a qualitative investigation intended to evaluate the impact of the application of the Programme of External Evaluation of Schools by the Inspectorate of Education, since 2006 in Portugal. This investigation was fundamentally based upon the hearing of the opinions of the teachers of a school which was subjected to an intervention within the inspectional programme referred to above. This work seeks to identify some evidence of the effects of the External Evaluation of Schools upon the school that was subjected to it on the matters of organizational development and improvement of the quality of the teaching-learning process
