Brasilia, inaugurated in 1960, expresses the modernist ideals of the Charter of Athens in the compartmentalization of its urban design and the liberation of its urban ground for the free transit of vehicles and pedestrians. Brasília represented the yearning for modernity in the country, attracting migrants from all regions, and became a focal point of urban development in the interior of Brazil. The principles of urban design that give the capital its peculiar flows and movements did not go unnoticed to cinematographic lenses. Movies about Brasilia often portray the routes followed by cars in the city. From the perspective of the moving car, Brasilia seems to embody the speed of the car in our experience of the city, and the reading of the landscape that occurs at speed creates a strong identification with the motion picture film. Documented by filmmakers since its construction, Brasilia has shown its transformation in movies that witness the destruction of the modernist programmatic narrative, thus multiplied in narratives of transitional character which value the experiences of individual or small social groups. The narrative created by the movies about Brasilia that bring up the representation of the city’s space begs the question: would it be possible for us to acknowledge that space, appropriated not as permanence but as fluidity, and participate in the construction of a collective imagination that relates to routes within the city, creating different experiences of place? By putting together the cinematographic universe of Brasilia and circulation, we can see the city through the paths that are frequently trodden and are part of a creation in time. This study follows modernity, the city, and cinema, which will be the foundations for an analysis of the representations of Brasilia

This study demand to understand how utilizers of social networks use the interaction tool known as “like” to communicate their affections. This form of expression is used in the interfaces of social networks as a mechanism for interaction between social actors. We used samples from four focal groups belonging to Y and Z’s generations, utilizers of the social network "Instagram". As a basic research method, we're crossing between ethnography, qualitative research and netnography. The general objective of this study is to understand "likes" as an expression of network affectivity on Instagram. In order to discuss these network affectivitiness, we have dialogues with authors as Muniz Sodré (2002, 2006), Richard Miskolci (2017), Lúcia Santaella (2003, 2007, 2016), Raquel Recuero (2009, 2012, 2014) and Zigmaunt Baumant. This research points that social relations, in liquid modernity, are ubiquitous, omnipresent and transcend temporality, space and culture. Just as the media converged, especially with the arrival of the smartphone, a technological apparatus, the social relations are converging symbiotically in the post-human culture. In the post-digital’s era, it’s no longer possible to separate real from virtual, including human relations.

Filling Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes with Lutetium Chloride : A Sustainable Production of Nanocapsules Free of Nonencapsulated Material

Filled carbon nanotubes are of interest for a wide variety of applications ranging from sensors to magnetoelectronic devices and going through the development of smart contrast and therapeutic agents in the biomedical field. In general, regardless of the method employed, bulk filling of carbon nanotubes results in the presence of a large amount of external nonencapsulated material. Therefore, further processing is needed to achieve a sample in which the selected payload is present only in the inner cavities of the nanotubes. Here, we report on a straightforward approach that allows the removal of nonencapsulated compounds in a time efficient and environmentally friendly manner, using water as a "green" solvent, while minimizing the residual waste. The results presented herein pave the way toward the production of large amounts of high-quality closed-ended filled nanotubes, also referred to as carbon nanocapsules, readily utilizable in the foreseen applications

Heavily n-doped Ge : low-temperature magnetoresistance properties on the metallic side of the metal–nonmetal transition

We report here an experimental and theoretical study on the magnetoresistance properties of heavily phosphorous doped germanium on the metallic side of the metal–nonmetal transition. An anomalous regime, formed by negative values of the magnetoresistance, was observed by performing low-temperature measurements and explained within the generalized Drude model, due to the many-body effects. It reveals a key mechanism behind the magnetoresistance properties at low temperatures and, therefore, constitutes a path to its manipulation in such materials of great interest in fundamental physics and technological applications

Astrocytes regulate brain extracellular pH via a neuronal activity-dependent bicarbonate shuttle

Brain cells continuously produce and release protons into the extracellular space, with the rate of acid production corresponding to the levels of neuronal activity and metabolism. Efficient buffering and removal of excess H+ is essential for brain function, not least because all the electrogenic and biochemical machinery of synaptic transmission is highly sensitive to changes in pH. Here, we describe an astroglial mechanism that contributes to the protection of the brain milieu from acidification. In vivo and in vitro experiments conducted in rodent models show that at least one third of all astrocytes release bicarbonate to buffer extracellular H+ loads associated with increases in neuronal activity. The underlying signalling mechanism involves activity-dependent release of ATP triggering bicarbonate secretion by astrocytes via activation of metabotropic P2Y1 receptors, recruitment of phospholipase C, release of Ca2+ from the internal stores, and facilitated outward HCO3− transport by the electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter 1, NBCe1. These results show that astrocytes maintain local brain extracellular pH homeostasis via a neuronal activity-dependent release of bicarbonate. The data provide evidence of another important metabolic housekeeping function of these glial cells
