    Penonton adalah pelaku utama pembuat keputusan untuk menonton di bioskop dalam industri hiburan. Namun beberapa tahun terakhir terjadi penurunan pertumbuhan jumlah penonton bioskop BlitzMegaplex Paris Van Java Bandung. Hal ini terjadi karena lambatnya laju pertumbuhan jumlah penonton setiap bulannya dan sebagai bioskop yang memiliki konsep beyonds experience, dimensi customer experience BlitzMegaplex Paris Van Java Bandung kurang baik. Melalui upaya penilaian customer experience diharapkan BlitzMegaplex dapat mengevaluasi dimensi customer experience dan memahami lifestyle model penonton pada saat ini. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui: (1) gambaran customer experience BlitzMegaplex Paris Van Java Bandung (2) gambaran lifestyle model penonton bioskop BlitzMegaplex Paris Van Java Bandung (3) gambaran keputusan menonton bioskop BlitzMegaplex Paris Van Java Bandung(4) besarnya pengaruh customer experience dan lifestyle model terhadap keputusan menonton di Bioskop BlitzMegaplex Paris Van Java Bandung.Metode penelitiannya menggunakan deskriptif dan verifikatif. Sumber data yang dipergunakan adalah primer dan sekunder. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah member bioskop BlitzMegaplex Paris Van Java Bandung sebanyak 943.164 orang dan diambil sampel penelitian sejumlah 165 orang menggunakan Simple Random Sampling dan Probability Sampling merupakan teknik pengambilan sampel yang penulis pilih. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi, kuesioner. Untuk mengukur besarnya pengaruh customer experience dan lifestyle model digunakan teknik analisis Regresi Linear Berganda.Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa analisis customer experience cukup tinggi. Lifestyle model cukup tinggi, dan keputusan menonton cukup tinggi. Customer experience memiliki pengaruh positif terhadap keputusan menonton di bioskop BlitzMegaplex Paris Van Java Bandung.     Eliciting a predatory response in the eastern corn snake (Pantherophis guttatus) using live and inanimate sensory stimuli: implications for managing invasive populations

    North America's Eastern corn snake (Pantherophis guttatus) has been introduced to several islands throughout the Caribbean and Australasia where it poses a significant threat to native wildlife. Invasive snake control programs often involve trapping with live bait, a practice that, as well as being costly and labour intensive, raises welfare and ethical concerns. This study assessed corn snake response to live and inanimate sensory stimuli in an attempt to inform possible future trapping of the species and the development of alternative trap lures. We exposed nine individuals to sensory cues in the form of odour, visual, vibration and combined stimuli and measured the response (rate of tongue-flick [RTF]). RTF was significantly higher in odour and combined cues treatments, and there was no significant difference in RTF between live and inanimate cues during odour treatments. Our findings suggest chemical cues are of primary importance in initiating predation and that an inanimate odour stimulus, absent of simultaneous visual and vibratory cues, is a potential low-cost alternative trap lure for the control of invasive corn snake populations

    Modern hard corals (Class Hexacorallia; Order Scleractinia) are widely studied because of their fundamental role in reef building and their superb fossil record extending back to the Triassic. Nevertheless, interpretations of their evolutionary relationships have been in flux for over a decade. Recent analyses undermine the legitimacy of traditional suborders, families and genera, and suggest that a non-skeletal sister clade (Order Corallimorpharia) might be imbedded within the stony corals. However, these studies either sampled a relatively limited array of taxa or assembled trees from heterogeneous data sets. Here we provide a more comprehensive analysis of Scleractinia (127 species, 75 genera, 17 families) and various outgroups, based on two mitochondrial genes (cytochrome oxidase I, cytochrome b), with analyses of nuclear genes (ßtubulin, ribosomal DNA) of a subset of taxa to test unexpected relationships. Eleven of 16 families were found to be polyphyletic. Strikingly, over one third of all families as conventionally defined contain representatives from the highly divergent "robust" and "complex" clades. However, the recent suggestion that corallimorpharians are true corals that have lost their skeletons was not upheld. Relationships were supported not only by mitochondrial and nuclear genes, but also often by morphological characters which had been ignored or never noted previously. The concordance of molecular characters and more carefully examined morphological characters suggests a future of greater taxonomic stability, as well as the potential to trace the evolutionary history of this ecologically important group using fossils

    Associations of advanced age with comorbidity, stage and primary subsite as contributors to mortality from colorectal cancer

    PUBLISHED 06 April 2023Background: Although survival from colorectal cancer (CRC) has improved substantially in recent decades, people with advanced age still have a high likelihood of mortality from this disease. Nonetheless, few studies have investigated how cancer stage, subsite and comorbidities contribute collectively to poor prognosis of older people with CRC. Here, we decided to explore the association of age with mortality measures and how other variables influenced this association. Methods: Using linkage of several administrative datasets, we investigated the risk of death among CRC cases during 2003–2014. Different models were used to explore the association of age with mortality measures and how other variables influenced this association. Results: Our results indicated that people diagnosed at a young age and with lower comorbidity had a lower likelihood of all-cause and CRC-specific mortality. Aging had a greater association with mortality in early-stage CRC, and in rectal cancer, compared that seen with advanced-stage CRC and right colon cancer, respectively. Meanwhile, people with different levels of comorbidity were not significantly different in terms of their increased likelihood of mortality with advanced age. We also found that while most comorbidities were associated with all-cause mortality, only dementia [SHR = 1.43 (1.24–1.64)], Peptic ulcer disease [SHR = 1.12 (1.02–1.24)], kidney disease [SHR = 1.11 (1.04–1.20)] and liver disease [SHR = 1.65 (1.38–1.98)] were risk factors for CRC-specific mortality. Conclusion: This study showed that the positive association of advanced age with mortality in CRC depended on stage and subsite of the disease.We also found only a limited number of comorbidities to be associated with CRC-specific mortality.     Transcriptomes and expression profiling of deep-sea corals from the Red Sea provide insight into the biology of azooxanthellate corals

    Despite the importance of deep-sea corals, our current understanding of their ecology and evolutionis limited due to difficulties in sampling and studying deep-sea environments. Moreover, a recent reevaluation of habitat limitations has been suggested after characterization of deep-sea corals in the Red Sea, where they live at temperatures of above 20 °C at low oxygen concentrations. To gain further insight into the biology of deep-sea corals, we produced reference transcriptomes and studied gene expression of three deep-sea coral species from the Red Sea, i.e. Dendrophyllia sp., Eguchipsammia fistula, and Rhizotrochus typus. Our analyses suggest that deep-sea coral employ mitochondrial hypometabolism and anaerobic glycolysis to manage low oxygen conditions present in the Red Sea. Notably, we found expression of genes related to surface cilia motion that presumably enhance small particle transport rates in the oligotrophic deep-sea environment. This is the first study to characterize transcriptomes and in situ gene expression for deep-sea corals. Our work offers several mechanisms by which deep-sea corals might cope with the distinct environmental conditions present in the Red Sea.     FLOOD-WATER LEVEL ESTIMATION FROM SOCIAL MEDIA IMAGES

    In the event of a flood, being able to build accurate flood level maps is essential for supporting emergency plan operations. In order to build such maps, it is important to collect observations from the disaster area. Social media platforms can be useful sources of information in this case, as people located in the flood area tend to share text and pictures depicting the current situation. Developing an effective and fully automatized method able to retrieve data from social media and extract useful information in real-time is crucial for a quick and proper response to these catastrophic events. In this paper, we propose a method to quantify flood-water from images gathered from social media. If no prior information about the zone where the picture was taken is available, one possible way to estimate the flood level consists of assessing how much the objects appearing in the image are submerged in water. There are various factors that make this task difficult: i) the precise size of the objects appearing in the image might not be known; ii) flood-water appearing in different zones of the image scene might have different height; iii) objects may be only partially visible as they can be submerged in water. In order to solve these problems, we propose a method that first locates selected classes of objects whose sizes are approximately known, then, it leverages this property to estimate the water level. To prove the validity of this approach, we first build a flood-water image dataset, then we use it to train a deep learning model. We finally show the ability of our trained model to recognize objects and at the same time predict correctly flood-water level

    Clarin-2 gene supplementation durably preserves hearing in a model of progressive hearing loss

    Hearing loss is a major health concern affecting millions of people worldwide with currently limited treatment options. In clarin-2-deficient Clrn2−/− mice, used here as a model of progressive hearing loss, we report synaptic auditory abnormalities in addition to the previously demonstrated defects of hair bundle structure and mechanoelectrical transduction. We sought an in-depth evaluation of viral-mediated gene delivery as a therapy for these hearing-impaired mice. Supplementation with either the murine Clrn2 or human CLRN2 genes preserved normal hearing in treated Clrn2−/− mice. Conversely, mutated forms of CLRN2, identified in patients with post-lingual moderate to severe hearing loss, failed to prevent hearing loss. The ectopic expression of clarin-2 successfully prevented the loss of stereocilia, maintained normal mechanoelectrical transduction, preserved inner hair cell synaptic function, and ensured near-normal hearing thresholds over time. Maximal hearing preservation was observed when Clrn2 was delivered prior to the loss of transducing stereocilia. Our findings demonstrate that gene therapy is effective for the treatment of post-lingual hearing impairment and age-related deafness associated with CLRN2 patient mutations

    Spatiotemporal trends in cetacean strandings and response in the southwestern Indian Ocean : 2000–2020

Collection of data in Reunion was funded by DEAL Reunion and Region-Reunion.The south-western Indian Ocean (SWIO) is a region of global importance for marine mammal biodiversity, but our understanding of most of the species and populations found there is still rudimentary. The Indian Ocean Network for Cetacean Research (IndoCet) was formed in 2014 and is dedicated to the research of all cetacean species across the SWIO. Since 2019, there have been efforts to create a regional network for coordinated response to stranding events as well as training and capacity building in the SWIO region. The present analysis represents a first investigation of stranding data collected by various members and collaborators within the IndoCet network, covering over 14,800km of coastline belonging to nine countries/territories. Between 2000–2020, there were 397 stranding events, representing 1,232 individual animals, 17 genera and 27 species, belonging to six families: four balaenopterids, one balaenid, one physeterid, two kogiids, six ziphiids and 14 delphinids. Seven mass strandings were recorded: two were composed of three to 20 individuals and five composed of > 20 individuals. Spatial analysis of stranding events indicated that local spatio-temporal clusters (excessive number of events in time and geographic space) were present in all countries/territories, except for the Comoros. The only significant cluster was detected on the southwest coast of Mauritius, just west of the village of Souillac. The SWIO region predominantly comprises relatively poor countries/territories, but imminent Ocean Economy developments are prevalent throughout the region. This study highlights the importance of establishing baselines upon which any future potential impact from anthropogenic developments in the region can be measured.Peer reviewe

    A self-controlled case series to assess the effectiveness of beta blockers for heart failure in reducing hospitalisations in the elderly

    Background: To determine the suitability of using the self-controlled case series design to assess improvements in health outcomes using the effectiveness of beta blockers for heart failure in reducing hospitalisations as the example. Methods: The Australian Government Department of Veterans' Affairs administrative claims database was used to undertake a self-controlled case-series in elderly patients aged 65 years or over to compare the risk of a heart failure hospitalisation during periods of being exposed and unexposed to a beta blocker. Two studies, the first using a one year period and the second using a four year period were undertaken to determine if the estimates varied due to changes in severity of heart failure over time. Results: In the one year period, 3,450 patients and in the four year period, 12, 682 patients had at least one hospitalisation for heart failure. The one year period showed a non-significant decrease in hospitalisations for heart failure 4-8 months after starting beta-blockers, (RR, 0.76; 95% CI (0.57-1.02)) and a significant decrease in the 8-12 months post-initiation of a beta blocker for heart failure (RR, 0.62; 95% CI (0.39, 0.99)). For the four year study there was an increased risk of hospitalisation less than eight months post-initiation and significant but smaller decrease in the 8-12 month window (RR, 0.90; 95% CI (0.82, 0.98)). Conclusions: The results of the one year observation period are similar to those observed in randomised clinical trials indicating that the self-controlled case-series method can be successfully applied to assess health outcomes. However, the result appears sensitive to the study periods used and further research to understand the appropriate applications of this method in pharmacoepidemiology is still required.
