Complementary Ansatz for the neutrino mass matrix

    Get PDF
We propose a simple Ansatz for the three generation neutrino mass matrix MνM_\nu which is motivated from an SO(10) grand unified theory. The Ansatz can be combined with information from neutrino oscillation experiments and bounds on neutrinoless double beta decay to determine the neutrino masses themselves and to reconstruct, with some assumptions, the matrix Mν M_\nu .Comment: 15 pages, RevteX, submitted to Phys. Ambivalensi Kehidupan Tokoh Larasati dalam Roman Larasati Karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer: Kajian Pascakolonialisme

Larasati is a novel by Pramoedya Ananta Toer that records Indonesia's flaming revolution at post-proclamation, not by “the great people and elders”, but a woman, Larasati. She was an ordinary villager whom became a stage artist and beautiful movie star as well as a woman who “prostitute herself to the colonialist”. This research uses post-colonialism theory and descriptive-analysis method. From the approachment used, the representation of ambivalency action from the live of the ruled ones can be seen

    Investigating the Light Scalar Mesons

    Get PDF
We first briefly review a treatment of the scalars in meson meson scattering based on a non-linear chiral Lagrangian, with unitarity implemented by a "local" modification of the scalar propagators. It is shown that the main results are confirmed by a treatment in the SU(3) linear sigma model in which unitarity is implemented "globally". Some remarks are made on the speculative subject of the scalars' quark structure.Comment: 9 pages,3 figures, talk at hadron2001, Protvin

Electroweak Phase Transition in the U(1)' MSSM

In this work, we have investigated the nature of the electroweak phase transition in the U(1) extended minimal supersymmetric standard model without introducing any exotic fields. The effective potential has been estimated exactly at finite temperature taking into account the whole particle spectrum. For reasonable values of the lightest Higgs and neutralino, we found that the electroweak phase transition could be strongly first order due to: (1) the interactions of the singlet with the doublets in the effective potential, and (2) the evolution of the wrong vacuum that delays the transition.Comment: substantial changes, references added, 18 pages, 4 figure

The Evidence of Sick Building Syndrome (Sbs) among Oil Gas Refinery Officers

    Get PDF
The sick building syndrome comprises of various non-specific symptoms that occur in the occupants of a building. It commonly increases sickness absenteeism and causes a decrease in productivity of the workers. Evidence suggests that what is called the Sick Building Syndrome are at least three separate entities, which has at least one cause. The following are some of the factors that might be primarily responsible for Sick Building Syndrome such as: Chemical contaminants, Biological contaminants, inadequate ventilation and Electromagnetic radiation. In many cases, it is due to insufficient maintenance of the HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) system in the building. As this syndrome is increasingly becoming a major occupational hazard, the analytic cross-sectional design was used. Based on data obtained, 80 percent of respondents reported significant on-going health problems in the eyes, head, and the nose. About 60 percent had bad symptoms in the throat, the stomach and cough, 50 percent had gastrointestinal disorders, 40 percent fatigue and 25 percent had all symptoms of sick building syndrome. Forty respondents were recruited to the study, with a mean age of 35 years (range 20–55). To support the evidence of Sick Building Syndrome, further checks are needed for some of the factors in next research, that is, measurement of Chemical contaminants, Biological contaminants, inadequate ventilation and Electromagnetic radiation. A wideband 3-dB directional coupler in GGW for use in V-Band communication systems

    Get PDF
In this article, a broadband 3-dB directional coupler is proposed using groove gap waveguide (GGW) structures. Gap waveguide technology has been introduced to overcome manufacturing and assembling challenges of different millimeter-wave components and devices. The presented coupler has wideband coupling flatness with low return loss in 60-GHz frequency band and can be easily adapted to other frequency ranges. Experimentally, a sample prototype of the proposed 3-dB coupler has been designed and fabricated. The measured return loss and isolation are better than 20 dB and the power-split unbalance within \ub10.5 dB is obtained over the frequency range from 57 to 74 GHz (26% BW). The proposed structure has the capability of easily integrating with other millimeter-wave components

Exact relativistic beta decay endpoint spectrum

    Get PDF
The exact relativistic form for the beta decay endpoint spectrum is derived and presented in a simple factorized form. We show that our exact formula can be well approximated to yield the endpoint form used in the fit method of the KATRIN collaboration. We also discuss the three neutrino case and how information from neutrino oscillation experiments may be useful in analyzing future beta decay endpoint experiments.Comment: 12 pages, 3 figure

Tarif Rasional Berdasarkan Biaya Satuan (Unit Cost), Ability to Pay (Atp), Willingness to Pay (Wtp) Dan Forced to Pay ( Ftp) Di Instalasi Rawat Inap Rumah Sakit Umum Anutapura Palu

The cost applied in Anutapura hospital since 2007 has not changed even with the inflation and the rising prices of medical supplies and drugs. This study aimed to determine the rational tariff based on the Unit cost, Ability To Pay (ATP), Willingness To Pay (WTP), Force To Pay (FTP) at the in-patient ward of Anutapura hospital Palu in 2013. The research was conducted at the inpatient ward of Anutapura Hospital Palu from March to April 2013. This study was an observational study based on real cost. The sample was all transaction costs from 100 hospitalized patients. Data were collected by using questionnaires and collection of annual reports of financial department, administration, and medical records. Data in 2012 were analyzed based on allocation of cost, fixed cost, semi-variable costs and variable cost. Data were analyzed using a computerized unit cost analysis and chi square analysis. The results of this study shows that the unit cost assumption III per treatment for one year is : the VVIP Class is Rp.410.000, -; the VIP Class is Rp 290.000.-; the first Class I is Rp 160.000.-; the second Class is Rp. 115.000.- and the third Class is Rp. 55.000.-. The conclusion of this study shows that the ATP and WTP is Rp.405.000, - per day care, followed by a VIP class with Rp.260.000, - per day care, the 1st class with Rp 155,000 per day care, the 2nd class with Rp . 110.000, - per day care and the third class with Rp 55,000 per day care.
