Estes resultados sublinham o potencial papel do extracto de FCF na regulação via do PI3K/AKT/mTOR, importante alvo terapêutico para o tratamento oncológico; ABSTRACT: The purpose of this study was to characterize the molecular activity of Cynara cardunculus extracts on the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway, on HepG2 and MDA-MB-231 tumor cell lines. The results show that fresh cultivated leaf (FCL) extract has a pronounced anti-proliferative activity, with an IC50 of 1,74 μg/mL expressed in terms of total phenols presented on HepG2 and 0,74 μg/mL expressed in terms of total phenols presented on MDA-MB-231. On MDA-MB-321 cell line there is no significant difference among the expression level of p110 isoforms ( , , ) of the PI3K in presence of FCL extract. On the other hand, the protein expression level of total AKT seems to be sensitive to the presence of FCL extracts, since its protein level significantly decreases on MDA-MB-231 cells incubated with FCL extract. These results underlie the putative role of the FCL Cc extract on the regulation of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway

Use of Forensic Sciences in Middle School
The forensic sciences are excellent tools for the preparation of materials to be integrated at various levels and areas of teaching because they are interdisciplinary and, moreover, very appealing to students which came as a result of the high popularity that the television series present. The episodes of these series show several techniques and procedures that are used in science that may represent a valuable resource to be applied and developed in the classroom. This feature allows a Science-Technology-Society (STS), and develop methodologies based on Problem Based Learning (PBL). In this methodology the teacher abandons the traditional role and passes to a secondary role in fostering the construction of knowledge in their students. In this thesis we suggest some activities within the forensic sciences field to be applied in the discipline of Physics and Chemistry of Basic Education. These activities take place in a formal context and allow students to relate the content covered in the discipline with real life and increment students‟ interest to learn science in general and chemistry in particular.
The application of this type of methodology had a positive impact on students as demonstrated in the analysis of the questionnaire conducted in which students responded that this approach allowed them to enhance learning of the discipline of Physics and Chemistry, understand their applicability and relevance to daily life as well as contributes to increasing the scientific literacy among the student population
//ABSTRACT: The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) has been one of the subjects in the area of management most debated in recent decades.
African Histoplasmosis
African histoplasmosis (AH) is a fungal infection due to Histoplasma capsulatum var. duboisii. Unlike classic histoplasmosis, infections caused by H. duboisii most commonly affects the skin, subcutaneous tissues, lymph nodes and bones. Till present, in Europe, all published cases have been from natives from Africa who moved to Europe. There are few reports in the literature describing the radiologic features of AH.The authors report a case of a 7-year-old girl, from Guine-Bissau, who had multiple skin and subcutaneous lesions and left lower limb deformity. The presence of H. duboisii was confirmed by culture and histologic examination. Imaging studies were performed and showed multiple calcified and non-calcified subcutaneous lesions compatible with granulomas/abscesses; axillary and thoracic lymphadenopathies; and signs of chronic osteomyelitis. Although these imaging features are not pathognomic they should raise awareness for the diagnosis of AH in patients that are African or people who have travelled from this continent. Imaging plays a crucial role not only in the diagnosis of this disease but also in monitoring the response to therapy and detecting recurrence
Nursing students’ knowledge regarding sexuality, sex, and gender diversity in a multicenter study
Introduction: Sexuality is an integral part of development and personality, and is important in healthcare. Nurses are among the most representative healthcare professionals. For holistic and inclusive nursing care practice and to improve equality, human rights, well-being, and health of individuals, the curricula of nursing courses must integrate broad knowledge about sexuality and its diversity. This study aimed to identify and analyze nursing students’ knowledge of sexuality, sex, and gender diversity. The present study was part of a multicenter study conducted in Europe. Methods: Questionnaires were administered in three nursing schools to assess nursing students’ knowledge (n = 75). Data processing was performed using Excel® software version 20 and IRaMuTeQ (R Interface pour les Analysis Multidimensionnelles de Textes et de Questionnaires) 0.7 alpha 2, allowing organization by category and subsequent thematic analysis using content analysis. Results: The textual corpus “Nursing students’ knowledge about sexuality in its diversity,” was divided into two sub-corpus: “Students’ perception of sexuality” and “Students’ perception of gender identity,” originating Class 6 “Eroticism” (14.23%) and Classes 4 “Sexual Orientation” (16.07%) and 3 “Heteronormative” (16.07%), the latter with greater proximity to each other and consequently to Class 6. Similarly, Classes 1 “Gender” (20.36%) and 5 “Cisgender” (12.14%) also presented a greater interrelationship between themselves and consecutively with Class 2 “Gender Identity” (15.36%). Discussion: The analyses revealed that though nursing students possessed knowledge about sexuality and its diversity, this knowledge was elementary and did not reveal a sustained appropriation of concepts related to sexuality, sexual orientation, and gender diversity. For some questions, the absence of students’ answers were noteworthy, and may be associated with their personal reservation in expressing themselves on this sensitive and intimate theme. To ensure diversity, inclusivity, and impartiality in nursing practice, it is imperative to change the curriculum plans of nursing courses to address the theme of sexuality during the training process of nurses in Europe.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
