This article deals with a survey of young graduates from the «Mechanic Autos Helper» offered by the Federal Institute of Brasilia – Campus Structural, in Brasil. The objective of this research was to analyze the impact of professional learning (program young apprentice), and the socioeconomic and professional inclusion of this young apprentices, in the period between 2013 and 2015. Methodologically, the research focused on a complementary approach between quantitative and qualitative procedures. The sample survey consisted of ten young people, two women and eight men, and one professor of the IFB. The Observation Plan used for the survey of the primary data consisted of using unstructured and semi-structured interviews. As to the Results, it was noted, based on content analysis technique, which most young people received job offer at the end of the course. For those who did not receive any offer (the minority of them), the factors that have contributed for the lack of an employment offer are related to the economic downturn, issues of gender and the policy of the company. Both groups recognized personal and family socio economic improvements as a result of the participation in the program. Finally, the results obtained showed the relevance that the professional learning has as a public policy focused on the labor insertion of young people because it includes at least two fundamental dimensions to social inclusion of youth public work and education.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Potential Exposure and Risk Associated with Metal Contamination in Foods

    Get PDF
Humans require several trace elements as components of the diet. Some of these elements are required in extremely small quantities (only micrograms per day). On the other hand, in higher concentrations, some elements may also have deleterious, even lethal, effects. Metals such as arsenic, chromium (Cr), lead (Pb), and mercury (Hg) are naturally occurring chemical compounds. The contamination of food with these metals occurs mainly through human activities, such as farming and industry, or from contamination during food processing and storage. People can be exposed to these metals by ingesting contaminated food or water, and their accumulation in the body can lead to harmful effects over time. The main objective of this chapter is to provide a literature review on the various types of foodborne poisoning caused by the contamination of food with arsenic, Cr, Pb, and Hg and on food safety issues associated with the presence of these metals in food. Research findings from various studies carried out to examine the relationship between metal exposure and the adverse health effects of metals are addressed

Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate the canal transportation and centering ability of ProTaper Next (PTN), WaveOne Gold (WOG) and Reciproc Blue (RCB) in simulated curved resin canals. Methods and Materials: A total of 43 blocks of simulated resin canals with 40° of curvature were prepared to an apical size of 0.02. Flexofile #15 instruments were used along the root canal to reach patency. The blocks were randomly assessed and sequence instruments were used according to each system: PTN, RCB and WOG. The imposition of pre and post instrumentation images were composited and analyzed. The canal transportation and apical centralization were measured using the software GIMP (2.8.4, Creative Commons - Share Alike 4.0 International License, 2013). Data were statistically analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk test, ANOVA test and Tukey's test. The level of significance was set at 0.05. Results: There were no statistical differences in canal transportation between three systems. The general assessment of three systems presented the RCB group with higher values of centralization and more numbers of centralized points with significant differences between the PTN and RCB groups (P<0.05). Conclusion: In this in vitro study, there were no statistical differences in canal transportation between the RCB, WOG and PTN systems. The lowest transportation was observed in the apical region at 3 mm performed with RCB system, followed by WOG and PTN systems. The RCB demonstrated higher values of centralization and more centralized points when assessed by regions. &nbsp

The present study aimed to analyze gender crossings in the pedagogical practices and playtime activities in a nursery group - "Maternal 3”, highlighting what was expected from boys and girls in regard to their behavior. As a data collection strategy, semi-structured interviews and observation, in which notes were taken and registered in a journal, were the methods adopted. This process took six months. It was evident that gender produced normative pedagogical practices which tried to make invisible the subjects who deviated from the center. This invisibility seemed necessary to reinforce the power relations that were present in the routines and crossed the pedagogical practices, keeping the students in “their places"

In elderly people, measurement of several anthropometric parameters may present complications. Although neck circumference measurements seem to avoid these issues, the cutoffs and cardiovascular risk factors associated with this parameter among elderly people remain unknown. This study was developed to identify the cutoff values and cardiovascular risk factors associated with neck circumference measurements among elderly people. DESIGN AND SETTING: Cross-sectional study conducted in two community centers for elderly people. METHODS: 435 elderly adults (371 women and 64 men) were recruited. These volunteers underwent morphological evaluations (body mass index and waist, hip, and neck circumferences) and hemodynamic evaluations (blood pressure values and heart rate). Receiver operating characteristic curve analyses were used to determine the predictive validity of cutoff values for neck circumference, for identifying over-weight/obesity. Multivariate analysis was used to identify cardiovascular risk factors associated with large neck circumference. RESULTS: Cutoff values for neck circumference (men = 40.5 cm and women = 35.7 cm), for detection of obese older adults according to body mass index, were identified. After a second analysis, large neck circumference was shown to be associated with elevated body mass index in men; and elevated body mass index, blood pressure values, prevalence of type 2 diabetes and hypertension in women. CONCLUSION: The data indicate that neck circumference can be used as a screening tool to identify overweight/obesity in older people. Moreover, large neck circumference values may be associated with cardiovascular risk factors.134651952

A DESCONSTRUÇÃO DO CONCEITO DE TRABALHADOR: DA SUBJETIVIDADE INDIVIDUAL A GLAMURIZAÇÃO GERENCIALISTA

Prozone phenomenon results from high antibody titers in patients with syphilis, causing a false negative Venereal Disease Research Laboratory (VDRL) results. We report a case of a 50-year-old female patient, with a chief complaint of diffuse, erythematous and asymptomatic lesions, conjunctival hyperemia in her left eye. The physical examination: maculopapular rash on the trunk, back, abdomen and face and right epitrochlear adenopathy. She brought general tests within normal limits and negative VDRL. We requested FTA-ABS IgG:+ and VDRL in diluted serum: 1:512. The optimal ratio of the antigen/antibody yields an insoluble precipitate that is visible, thus rendering the test positive. Trazia exames gerais normais e VDRL negativo. Solicitado FTA-ABS IgG reagente e VDRL em soro diluído: 1:512. Confirmando, portanto, a ocorrência do fenómeno prozona
