Development of an IoT solution for detergent supervision in industrial washing machines

In industrial laundries, the detergent level measurement is a key element for asset management, mainly due to the necessity of maintaining a continuous flow of washing processes. Therefore, this work presents a solution implemented in the industrial laundry reservoirs of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Bragança, in Portugal, using an Internet of Things (IoT) approach, which integrates a Wi-Fi based measurement system, capable of monitoring and recording the detergent liquid level from reservoirs in real-time. Thereby, a microcontrolled system was developed to perform level measurements using an ultrasonic sensor, in which data is sent to a database and, through a web based platform, the client can remotely access the measurement results. In order to facilitate the physical installation of the developed hardware in the existent setup, a custom-made enclosure was designed and 3D printed.A automação das atividades industriais tem como objetivo melhorar a eficiência de processos produtivos, reduzindo custos e aumentando a segurança. Em lavanderias industriais, a medição de nível de detergente líquido é um elemento fundamental para o gerenciamento de ativos, principalmente devido à necessidade de manter um fluxo contínuo dos processos de lavagem. Dessa forma, o trabalho apresenta uma solução implementada nos reservatórios da lavanderia industrial da Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Bragança, em Portugal, usando uma abordagem de internet das coisas, na qual integra um sistema de medição com conexão Wi-Fi, capaz de monitorar e registrar o nível de detergente líquido dos reservatórios em tempo real. Com isso, foi desenvolvido um sistema microcontrolado responsável por realizar as medições de nível ulilizando sensor ultrasônico, na qual os dados são enviados para um banco de dados e, através de uma plataforma web, o cliente consiga acessar de forma remota o resultado das medições. Para facilitar a instalação do sistema nos reservatórios, um bujão foi desenhado sob medida e impresso em 3D

MICRO PHOTO IONIZATION DETECTOR FOR BTEX ANALYSIS: REVIEW REPORT OF PERFORMANCE INFLUENCING PARAMETERS

International audienceVolatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are gaseous chemical species emitted from solids and liquids that may cause short and long term adverse health effects. They are present in both outdoor and indoor air. In open environments, automotive exhausts and industrial waste are major sources of VOCs. They are also emitted from building materials, varnishes, paints, solvents, etc. [1]. Within the VOCs, BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes) are of greatest concern due to their health effects. Benzene, for example, is highly carcinogenic and the World Health Organization reports no safe level of exposure [2]. Gas chromatographs (GC) monitor air quality and can detect VOCs, these equipment are heavy, lab-based and non-portable. In 2016, Nasreddine [3] reported a miniaturized gas analyzer that can detect BTEX at ppb levels and weights 4 kg. In order to further reduce the size of this equipment and the consumption of carrier gas, its main components must be miniaturized and operate under low gas flow rate. The detector is one of the main components of the gas chromatograph, responsible for quantifying the chemicals sampled. This paper is centered on the type of detector named photo ionization detector (PID). The objective of this work is to present the main factors that affect the analytical PID performance. The information summarized here should be used as guidelines to design a future micro PID.Fig. 1 shows the basic elements of a photo ionization detector. In this device, a gas sample containing the chemicals flows through the ionization chamber, where photons emitted by the ionization source (UV lamp and window) reach the sample molecules. As a general rule, if the ionization energy of the photon is greater than the ionization potential of the molecule, ionization occurs. The electrodes establish then an electric field in the ionization chamber where the ionized molecules generate an ionization current proportional to the concentration of molecules in the gas sample.The performance of the PID is affected by design choices at the ionization source, ionization chamberand electrodes. The ionization source is selected according to the desired photon energy output,considering the target compounds to be detected. In theory, an ionization source with energy greater orequal to 9.3 ionizes all the BTEX molecules. However, Driscoll and Duffy [4] suggests to use the 10.2eV ionization source since it has the highest photon flux resulting in high PID sensitivity. The ionizationchamber should ensure uniform flow, otherwise the sensitivity of the PID is reduced [5]. Besides that,the ionization chamber volume should be as low as possible to reduce response time, thereby increasingsensitivity. A small volume also avoids remixing of organic species that have been previously separatedin the gas chromatograph and ensures uniform ionization of the sample, contributing positively to thelinearity and sensitivity of the signal. The electrodes inside the ionization chamber directly influencethe ion collection efficiency, which affects the sensitivity of the PID. Important electrode design aspectsinfluencing the ions collection efficiency are the electric field in the ionization chamber, the area of theelectrodes and the position of the electrodes in the ionization chamber [5].Micro and nanofabrication techniques can be used to miniaturize the PID with the possibility to improveits performance [5,6]. In the future, a micro PID design will be proposed and the most suitable microand nanofabrication technique for its fabrication will be evaluated. The new design will be based on themajor guidelines presented in this work with focus in diminishing both the ionization chamber volumeand the associated gas flow rate while maintaining low detection limit. The prototype will be evaluatedand compared to commercial PIDs

Antígona em Marcha: uma relação entre política, movimentos sociais e emoções

Tese (doutorado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Filosofia e Ciências Humanas, Programa de Pós-Graduação Interdisciplinar em Ciências Humanas, Florianópolis, 2023.Este trabalho analisa a trágica personagem Antígona e como esta personagem se tornou um marco nas discussões feministas por desafiar as leis dos Estado em nome daquilo que considerava mais importante, seus laços de sangue. Desta forma, ao invocar seu parentesco, Antígona segue anterior aos caminhos da política, clamando por aquilo que não pode ser dito pela voz universalizante do Estado, ela busca uma voz anterior, aquela que é dada por seus laços familiares. Ao desafiar o Estado, desafia todo um sistema vigente que tem no patriarcado as suas bases, nos mostrando que o sistema jurídico Estatal é deficitário ao responder a certas demandas. Assim, em um primeiro momento, buscamos reforçar a importância do teatro grego e de suas personagens femininas para pensarmos nossas sociedades atuais, principalmente a importância de Antígona, para isso, buscamos remontar a história desta personagem e da maldição familiar a qual ela foi herdeira. Em um segundo momento, a partir da análise bibliográfica de grandes teóricas feministas buscamos trazer como estas autoras interpretaram Antígona e suas contribuições para o pensamento feminista contemporâneo. Transpondo a obra de Sófocles para a atualidade, buscamos nas leituras de Judith Butler, Luce Irigaray, Julia Kristeva e Catherine Holland novas formas de interpretarmos a clássica tragédia com intuito de compreendermos melhor certas estruturas sociais ainda vigentes. Por fim, buscamos entender a divisão entre as esferas públicas e privadas a partir de uma leitura feminista, para assim pensarmos a importância dos espaços públicos como cenários de diferentes manifestações de mulheres que buscam, assim como Antígona, lutar pelos seus direitos e por desafiar as estruturas impostas por um Estado opressor baseado no machismo, na misoginia e na violência de gênero. Assim, buscamos neste trabalho indícios de como o ?clamor de Antígona? ainda é atual em nossa sociedade e como as relações de poder descritas pelos gregos ainda possuem um papel fundamental na constituição de nossas relações em nossas sociedades contemporâneas.Abstract: This work analyzes the tragic character Antigone and how she became a landmark in feminist discussions for challenging the laws of the State in the name of what she considered most important, her blood ties. In this way, by invoking her kinship, Antigone goes before the paths of politics, claiming for what cannot be said by the universalizing voice of the State, she seeks a previous voice, the one given by her ancestral ties. By challenging the State, she challenges an entire existing system that has its bases in patriarchy, showing us that the State legal system is deficient in responding to certain demands. Thus, at first, we seek to reinforce the importance of Greek theater and its female characters to think about our current societies, especially the importance of Antigone, for this, we seek to trace the history of this character and the family curse she was heir to. In a second moment, based on the bibliographical analysis of great names in feminist theory, we seek to show how these authors interpreted Antigone and their contributions to contemporary feminist thought. Transposing the work of Sophocles to the present, we seek in the readings of Judith Butler, Luce Irigaray, Julia Kristeva and Catherine Holland new ways of interpreting the classic tragedy in order to better understand certain social structures still in force. Finally, we seek to better understand the division between the public and private spheres from a feminist perspective, so that we can think about the importance of public spaces as scenarios for different manifestations of women who seek, like Antigone, to fight for their rights and to challenge the structures imposed by an oppressive state based on sexism, misogyny and gender violence. Thus, in this work, we seek expressions of how the ?Antigone's Claim? is still current in our society and how the power relations described by the Greeks still play a fundamental role in the construction of our relationships in our contemporary societies

Utilizando text mining na taxonomia processual

Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (graduação)—Universidade de Brasília, Faculdade UnB Gama, 2018.O trabalho apresenta uma avaliação de métodos supervisionados de classificação utilizando como entrada processos judiciais. O sistema judicial brasileiro recebe milhões de processos por ano, que possuem uma variedade de informações que interessam diversos atores inclusive o poder executivo. A tarefa de classificar esses processos para análise em pesquisas específicas é uma tarefa hercúlea sendo uma grande oportunidade para o uso de algoritmos inteligentes. O trabalho utilizou os algoritmos knn e naive bayses para classificar os processos judiciais e avaliou a performance dos dois algoritmos. O trabalho resultou em valores adequados para os dois algoritmos podendo os dois serem usados para a classificação de processos judiciais.The paper presents an evaluation of supervised learning methods of classification using as input lawsuits. The Brazilian judicial system receives millions of cases per year, which have a variety of information that interests research papaer and stakeholders including the executive power. The task of classifying these processes for analysis in specific searches is a Herculean task being a great opportunity for the use of intelligent algorithms. The work utilized the knn and naive bayses algorithms to classify the judicial processes and evaluated the performance of the two algorithms. The work resulted in adequate values for the two algorithms, both of which can be used to classify lawsuits

Abordagem da saúde dos cuidadores

Trata-se de uma abordagem sobre atenção aos cuidadores familiares na Estratégia de Saúde da Família (ESF), levando em consideração suas ações com os seus doentes e com sua própria saúde. Em função do envelhecimento populacional crescente, vem aumentando a demanda dessas pessoas no dia a dia, que muitas das vezes é um familiar. Porém a saúde deles não pode ser esquecida. Discutiremos a abordagem de uma família acompanhada pela UBS Chacrinha, onde um membro da mesma cuidava de outro com sequelas de AVE. A partir desse cenário, realizamos reuniões de equipe, levamos em consideração a Planilha de Intervenção (PI) realizada durante o curso com supervisão médica do PROVAB, para que alcançássemos uma melhor qualidade vida do cuidador e da família em si, destacando a sua importância e disseminando a saúde e minimizando as intercorrências diárias

O PENSAMENTO AGONÍSTICO POR UMA DEMOCRACIA PLURAL: uma análise da teoria de Chantal Mouff

Este trabalho pretende analisar a obra da pensadora política belga Chantal Mouffe, através da evolução de seu conceito de uma democracia radical e plural. Baseado na leitura de seus principais textos, escritos em diferentes momentos, pretendemos traçar uma linha de união e evolução ao longo de sua teoria, para que possamos compreender melhor a trajetória desta autora que é um marco no pensamento político contemporâneo. Partindo de um modelo “agonista”, a autora pretende traçar as bases para uma democracia que seja “radical e plural”, onde tanto os conceitos de igualdade e de liberdade sejam respeitados. Apoiada na ideia de que o “político” é indissociável de uma dimensão conflitual, esta que não pode ser eliminada por nenhum processo racional de negociação, a autora faz sua crítica ao modelo deliberativo de Habermas ao mesmo tempo em que crítica o véu da ignorância trazido por Rawls. Ao trazer os argumentos que Mouffe coloca na introdução de seus textos pretendemos compreender como esta teoria foi desenvolvida ao longo da trajetória desta autora
