Experimental and numerical evaluation of fiber-matrix interface behaviour of different FRCM systems

Abstract Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Matrix (FRCM) composites are a relatively new strengthening system family, whose mechanical behavior is strongly affected by the wide array of possible inorganic matrices and composites fabrics that can be used and coupled together. Structural tests highlighted that global capacity of the system is strongly affected by fabric-matrix adhesion mechanism. In the present paper, the experimental results of tensile and single-lap shear tests, aimed to define mechanical properties of four FRCM types, are discussed and compared. For each system type, the failure modes for both types of test have been physically identified and clarified. The following development of detailed finite element models, carefully reproducing the mechanical behavior of the different layers of the strengthening system, allowed for the proposal of a reliable shear stress-slip relation for the fiber-matrix interface. The experimental outcomes showed the relevant dispersion of the results in terms of performance, effectiveness and failure mechanisms exhibited by the different FRCM types while the numerical interpretation allowed for a better understanding of the reasons and the parameters behind them

Negocios, poder y política industrial en los orígenes de la industria automotriz argentina, 1943-1958

The aim of this article is to analyze the state’s role in the establishment of the argentine automobile industry. Even thought this industry reach an appreciable development since 1959, during the previous decade the national state promote it through the creation of the first national mass production car company, the support of national business and the formation of a company in association with Henry Kaiser. This paper argues that even though the argentine government’s interventionism was stronger than in Brazil, Mexico or Colombia, the industrial policy did not tackle some important problems. However, the peronist policy shows more rational than the industrial policy implemented since 1959.El objetivo de este artículo es analizar el papel del estado en los orígenes de la industria automotriz argentina. Aunque esta industria alcanzaría un notable desarrollo a partir de 1959 sobre la base de la instalación de filiales de empresas extranjeras, durante la década previa el estado nacional impulsó al sector a través de diferentes mecanismos tales como la creación de la primera empresa automotriz de producción en serie, el aliento al capital nacional y la asociación con Henry Kaiser. El trabajo argumenta que si bien la intervención estatal fue mucho más lejos que en países como Brasil, México o Colombia, la política industrial desconoció algunos problemas esenciales. Con todo, la política peronista se mostró más racional que la que se aplicaría a partir de 1959

Origen, desarrollo y límites estructurales de la industria del papel en la Argentina, 1880-1940

This paper aims at analyzing the origins and development of the Argentine paper industry in a context of changes in technology and production processes worldwide. We explore the period of time between 1880 and the 1940’s. We analyze the factors that stimulated industrial implantation and modeled the structure of the sector, focusing on company strategies in changing macro-economic environments. We pay special attention to concentration processes like those that gave birth to La Papelera Argentina S.A. and, in the 1930’s, to Celulosa Argentina, a company that would lead the sector for decades.El objetivo de este artículo es analizar los orígenes y el desenvolvimiento de la industria papelera en la Argentina en el marco de las transformaciones tecnológicas y productivas en este sector a escala internacional. Para ello exploramos el periodo comprendido entre las décadas de 1880 y 1940. El trabajo analiza los factores que estimularon la implantación industrial, modelaron la estructura sectorial, y se focaliza en las estrategias empresariales en el marco de los cambiantes entornos macroeconómicos. En especial, nos concentramos en el análisis de los procesos de concentración con la conformación, en la década de 1920, de La Papelera Argentina S.A. y, en los años treinta, la fundación de Celulosa Argentina, firma que lideraría el sector durante las siguientes décadas

Gold nanoparticles onto cerium oxycarbonate as highly efficient catalyst for aerobic allyl alcohol oxidation

Abstract Au nanoparticles, generated by the metal vapor synthesis technique, were supported onto cerium oxycarbonate monohydrate (Ce2O(CO3)2·H2O) giving Au@Ce2O(CO3)2·H2O. The obtained heterogeneous catalyst was used in the aerobic allyl alcohol oxidation reaction performed in toluene, showing a notably higher catalytic substrate conversion and isomerization activity compared to Au onto ceria, which is the reference catalyst for this type of catalysis. Results originating from catalytic recycling experiments and PXRD, HRTEM and XPS measurements carried out on recovered Au@Ce2O(CO3)2·H2O, confirmed the stability of the catalyst under aerobic oxidation reaction conditions and hence its recyclability, without the need of a regeneration step
