Signaling Pathways in Cancer: a Matter of Dosage

The main issue addressed in this thesis is how different levels of signaling activity of the Wnt and TGF-β/BMP pathways can affect transcriptional responses in particular relevant for self-renewal and differentiation both in homeostasis and in cancer. Chapter 1 presents an overview of the existent literature leading to the formulation of the hypothesis that Apc/Wnt pathway acts in a dosage-dependent manner both in normal and neoplastic tissues

A supervisão pedagógica : significados e operacionalização

Estamos perante um texto de natureza teórica que procura analisar e situar o conceito de supervisão no campo pedagógico. Decidimos, portanto, elaborar uma análise percorrendo duas etapas: na primeira refletimos sobre o conceito de supervisão e numa segunda transportamos este conceito para um composto que o adjetiva: a supervisão pedagógica. Entretanto, o conceito de supervisão pedagógica tem conhecido uma evolução de significado, o que se projeta no alargamento da sua abrangência. Assim, a segunda etapa deste estudo estrutura-se em três pontos: linha evolutiva do significado de supervisão no campo pedagógico; relação entre os conceitos de supervisão, liderança e regulação no campo pedagógico; e proposta de uma definição de supervisão pedagógica

El uso del álbum ilustrado para trabajar la inteligencia emocional en Educación Infantil.

La Inteligencia Emocional se ha convertido desde hace unos años en el punto de mira de investigadores y docentes, donde las conclusiones son inequívocas: es de vital importancia educar las emociones y atender a la neuroeducación desde la etapa de Educación Infantil. Para ello, se emplean herramientas como el álbum ilustrado, aunque no siempre se utilizan de manera correcta. La falta de transmisión de los resultados de las investigaciones y la falta de formación del profesorado ha hecho que esta herramienta no se utilice de forma correcta y, lo que es más grave, que se ignore la Neuroeducación en las aulas de Educación Infantil. En el presente trabajo se plasman, tanto los resultados de estas investigaciones, como la aplicación que se realiza de estas herramientas y las propuestas o estrategias de intervención que proponen los principales autores en esta materia para trabajar las emociones y atender a la Neuroeducación en Educación Infantil.Emotional Intelligence has become the focus of researchers and teachers in recent years, where the conclusions are unequivocal: It is important to educate the emotions and attend to neuroeducation from the Early Childhood Education stage. For that purpose, tools such as the picture books are used, although it is not always used correctly. Lack of transmission of research results and the lack of teacher training has meant that this tool is not used correctly and, what is more serious, that Neuroeducation is ignored in Early Childhood Education classrooms. In this document, both the results of these investigations, as well as the application that is made of these tools and the proposals or intervention strategies proposed by the main authors in this matter to work on emotions and attend to Neuroeducation in Early Childhood Education are reflected

GESTIÓN DE COBRANZAS PARA INCREMENTAR LA LIQUIDEZ EN LA EMPRESA INSUMOS QUÍMICOS ALFA SAC,2018

La presente investigación se desarrolló para contribuir con la Gestión de Cobranzas e incrementar la liquidez en la empresa Insumos Químicos Alfa, debido a que no existe, políticas y procedimientos debidamente elaborados, por lo que es necesaria la implementación de los mismos con el propósito de disminuir la cartera vencida en la empresa. En la investigación se utilizó el sintagma holístico, el cual desarrolla la teoría del enfoque mixto, de tipo proyectista no experimental de corte transversal, donde la información fue recopilada a través de los trabajadores del área contable, gerencial y administrativa bajo entrevistas. También se utilizó una ficha de registro documental, donde se analizó los ratios de liquidez, ratios de solvencia y rentabilidad, análisis vertical y horizontal. En los resultados obtenidos se evidencio problemas de liquidez, lo cual afirma que la empresa tiene capacidad limitada para hacer frente a sus obligaciones.Tesi

Abdominal Actinomycosis misdiagnosed as liposarcoma

Actinomycosis is an uncommon, endogenous, and chronic infection with varied and nonspecific clinical features such as abdominal, pelvic or cervical masses, ulcerative lesions, abscesses, draining fistula, fibrosis, and constitutional symptoms. The disease ensues when the bacteria disrupt the mucosal barrier, invade, and spread throughout interfascial planes. Currently, the diagnosis of actinomycosis is challenging because of its very low frequency and depending on the clinical presentation it may masquerade malignancies. Therapy consists initially in intravenous penicillin, followed by an oral regimen that may be extended until a year of treatment. A timely diagnosis is crucial to avoid extensive therapeutic attempt as surgery. However, a biopsy or drainage of abscesses and fistula’s tract may be required not only as a diagnostic procedure as part of the therapy. We report the case of a 72-year-old woman with an abdominal mass initially misdiagnosed as a liposarcoma. A second biopsy of a skin lesion of the abdominal wall made the diagnosis of actinomycosis, avoiding a major surgical procedure. The patient was treated with a long-term course of antibiotics with favorable outcome. Liposarcoma was ruled out after the patient’s full recovery with antibiotics and the misdiagnosis was credit to the overconfidence on the immunohistochemical positivity to MDM2

Gammaretrovirus-mediated correction of SCID-X1 is associated with skewed vector integration site distribution in vivo

We treated 10 children with X-linked SCID (SCID-X1) using gammaretrovirus-mediated gene transfer. Those with sufficient follow-up were found to have recovered substantial immunity in the absence of any serious adverse events up to 5 years after treatment. To determine the influence of vector integration on lymphoid reconstitution, we compared retroviral integration sites (RISs) from peripheral blood CD3(+) T lymphocytes of 5 patients taken between 9 and 30 months after transplantation with transduced CD34(+) progenitor cells derived from 1 further patient and I healthy donor. Integration occurred preferentially in gene regions on either side of transcription start sites, was clustered, and correlated with the expression level in CD34(+) progenitors during transduction. In contrast to those in CD34(+) cells, RISs recovered from engrafted CD3(+)T cells were significantly overrepresented within or near genes encoding proteins with kinase or transferase activity or involved in phosphorus metabolism. Although gross patterns of gene expression were unchanged in transduced cells, the divergence of RIS target frequency between transduced progenitor cells and post-thymic T lymphocytes indicates that vector integration influences cell survival, engraftment, or proliferation

Modern therapeutic options in diabetic foot ulcer

Diabetic foot is a severe complication of diabetes that occurs as a result of poor glycemic control, being associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Mortality associated with this disease is estimated at 5% in the first 12 months, and about 42% in the next 5 years. On average, it affects about 15% of people with diabetes during their lifetime, including as possible manifestations neuropathy, peripheral vascular disease, and subsequent ulceration which, if treated incorrectly, can lead to amputation. This paper presents a retrospective and descriptive study of patients diagnosed and treated for diabetic foot ulcers in the Proctoven Clinic. The study includes a group of 50 cases diagnosed with diabetic foot over a period of 5 years, from 01.01.2017 to 31.12.2021. Museo Quinta Simoni

Results of a research are shown, which used structured observation, with photos as its support, some interviews in depth and analysis of contents. These results permitted the presentation of a "Proposal of sustainable conservation for the Museum Quinta Simoni, to her, the first author, as topic, for her thesis of Master, about Conservation of historical centers and built patrimony.  Museum Quinta Simoni, is toward the west extreme of the historical center of Camagüey. The original property includes 14 acres; Museum Quinta Simoni; another house named La Quintica; the Foreman house, green areas and water wells. Deeply damaged, because of inappropriate use. This patrimonial complex has exceptional architectural and historical values, which deserves a conservation work of excellence.Se exponen resultados de la investigación que, con empleo de los métodos de observación estructurada apoyada en levantamiento fotográfico, entrevistas en profundidad y análisis de contenido, permitió a la autora inscribir una: Propuesta de conservación sostenible del Museo Quinta Simoni. La Quinta está dañada por usos inadecuados, más tiene valores arquitectónicos e históricos excepcionales, que exigen un minucioso trabajo de conservación

La quintica, un lugar en el olvido

On the foundations of the Tannery Carrión, inside the lands of the Casa-Quinta Simoni, The Quintica, a place full with memories was built. The present article shows the necessity to preserve this property and to integrate it to the Museum Quinta Simoni, what implies to intervene its green areas and to rehabilitate them so that they strengthen the conservation of the Museum. The structured observation supported with photos, the interview method; the content analysis and the descriptive statistic give a design that can be elaborated in one of the phases of the sustainable conservation of the Museum Quinta Simoni, as a result through the rehabilitation and studies of compatibility that allow to incorporate technical and modern materials, as well as the recovery of the green areas and a coherent change-of-use study, coherent  with their history and with the context.Un desafío para la Oficina del Historiador de la ciudad de Camagüey, es la conservación de un lugar lleno de remembranzas: La Quintica, construida sobre los cimientos de la antigua tenería de Carrión, otra propiedad del doctor Simoni. El presente artículo muestra la necesidad de preservar este inmueble e integrarlo al Museo Quinta Simoni, lo que implica intervenir sus áreas verdes y rehabilitarlas para que fortalezcan la conservación del Museo. La observación estructurada apoyada en levantamiento fotográfico, entrevistas en profundidad; el análisis de contenido y la estadística descriptiva dan como resultado un diseño que puede ser elaborado en una de las fases de la conservación sostenible del Museo Quinta Simoni, a través de la rehabilitación y estudios de compatibilidad que permitan incorporar técnicas y materiales modernos, así como la recuperación de las áreas verdes y una re-funcionalización coherente con su historia y con el contexto
