Strong and Electromagnetic Decays of Two New Baryons
Two recently discovered excited charm baryons are studied within the
framework of Heavy Hadron Chiral Perturbation Theory. We interpret these new
baryons which lie 308 \MeV and 340 \MeV above the as
members of a P-wave spin doublet. Differential and total decay rates for their
double pion transitions down to the ground state are calculated.
Estimates for their radiative decay rates are also discussed. We find that the
experimentally determined characteristics of the baryons may be
simply understood in the effective theory.Comment: 16 pages with 4 figures not included but available upon request,

Monopoles and Knots in Skyrme Theory
We show that the Skyrme theory actually is a theory of monopoles which allows
a new type of solitons, the topological knots made of monopole-anti-monopole
pair, which is different from the well-known skyrmions. Furthermore, we derive a
generalized Skyrme action from the Yang-Mills action of QCD, which we propose
to be an effective action of QCD in the infra-red limit. We discuss the
physical implications of our results.Comment: 4 pages. Phys. Rev. Lett. in pres
Baryon Masses in Partially Quenched Heavy Hadron Chiral Perturbation Theory
The masses of baryons containing a heavy quark are calculated to
next-to-leading order in partially quenched heavy hadron chiral perturbation
theory. Calculations are performed for three light flavors in the isospin limit
and additionally for two light non-degenerate flavors. The results presented
are necessary for extrapolating lattice QCD and partially quenched lattice QCD
calculations of the heavy hadron masses.Comment: 20 pages, 2 figures, RevTex
Fundamental study of flow field generated by rotorcraft blades using wide-field shadowgraph
The vortex trajectory and vortex wake generated by helicopter rotors are visualized using a wide-field shadowgraph technique. Use of a retro-reflective Scotchlite screen makes it possible to investigate the flow field generated by full-scale rotors. Tip vortex trajectories are visible in shadowgraphs for a range of tip Mach number of 0.38 to 0.60. The effect of the angle of attack is substantial. At an angle of attack greater than 8 degrees, the visibility of the vortex core is significant even at relatively low tip Mach numbers. The theoretical analysis of the sensitivity is carried out for a rotating blade. This analysis demonstrates that the sensitivity decreases with increasing dimensionless core radius and increases with increasing tip Mach number. The threshold value of the sensitivity is found to be 0.0015, below which the vortex core is not visible and above which it is visible. The effect of the optical path length is also discussed. Based on this investigation, it is concluded that the application of this wide-field shadowgraph technique to a large wind tunnel test should be feasible. In addition, two simultaneous shadowgraph views would allow three-dimensional reconstruction of vortex trajectories
Radiative Transitions in Heavy Mesons in a Relativistic Quark Model
The radiative decays of , , and other excited heavy mesons are
analyzed in a relativistic quark model for the light degrees of freedom and in
the limit of heavy quark spin-flavor symmetry. The analysis of strong decays
carried out in the corresponding chiral quark model is used to calculate the
strong decays and determine the branching ratios of the radiative decays.
Consistency with the observed branching ratios requires the inclusion of the
heavy quark component of the electromagnetic current and the introduction of an
anomalous magnetic moment for the light quark. It is observed that not only
, but also meson transitions within a heavy quark spin multiplet are
affected by the presence of the heavy quark current.Comment: 9 pages, RevTeX. Submitted to Physical Review
The Use of Online Panel Data in Management Research: A Review and Recommendations
Management scholars have long depended on convenience samples to conduct research involving human participants. However, the past decade has seen an emergence of a new convenience sample: online panels and online panel participants. The data these participants provideâonline panel data (OPD)âhas been embraced by many management scholars owing to the numerous benefits it provides over âtraditionalâ convenience samples. Despite those advantages, OPD has not been warmly received by all. Currently, there is a divide in the field over the appropriateness of OPD in management scholarship. Our review takes aim at the divide with the goal of providing a common understanding of OPD and its utility and providing recommendations regarding when and how to use OPD and how and where to publish it. To accomplish these goals, we inventoried and reviewed OPD use across 13 management journals spanning 2006 to 2017. Our search resulted in 804 OPD-based studies across 439 articles. Notably, our search also identified 26 online panel platforms (âbrokersâ) used to connect researchers with online panel participants. Importantly, we offer specific guidance to authors, reviewers, and editors, having implications for both micro and macro management scholars
Polarization of Upsilon(nS) at the Tevatron
The polarization of inclusive Upsilon(nS) at the Fermilab Tevatron is
calculated within the nonrelativistic QCD factorization framework. We use a
recent determination of the NRQCD matrix elements from fitting the CDF data on
bottomonium production from Run IB of the Tevatron. The result for the
polarization of Upsilon(1S) integrated over the transverse momentum bin 8 < p_T
< 20 GeV is consistent with a recent measurement by the CDF Collaboration. The
transverse polarization of Upsilon(1S) is predicted to increase steadily for
p_T greater than about 10 GeV. The Upsilon(2S) and Upsilon(3S) are predicted to
have significantly larger transverse polarizations than Upsilon(1S).Comment: 15 pages, 3 figure
Magnetic Moments of Heavy Baryons
First non-trivial chiral corrections to the magnetic moments of triplet (T)
and sextet (S^(*)) heavy baryons are calculated using Heavy Hadron Chiral
Perturbation Theory. Since magnetic moments of the T-hadrons vanish in the
limit of infinite heavy quark mass (m_Q->infinity), these corrections occur at
order O(1/(m_Q \Lambda_\chi^2)) for T-baryons while for S^(*)-baryons they are
of order O(1/\Lambda_\chi^2). The renormalization of the chiral loops is
discussed and relations among the magnetic moments of different hadrons are
provided. Previous results for T-baryons are revised.Comment: 11 Latex pages, 2 figures, to be published in Phys.Rev.
Strong Decays of Strange Charmed P-Wave Mesons
Goldstone boson decays of P-wave mesons are studied within the
framework of Heavy Hadron Chiral Perturbation Theory. We first analyze the
simplest single kaon decays of these strange charmed mesons. We derive a model
independent prediction for the width of and use experimental
information on to constrain the S-wave contribution to decay.
Single and double pion decay modes are then discussed and shown to be
significantly restricted by isospin conservation. We conclude that the pion
channels may offer the best hope for detecting one strange member of an
otherwise invisible P-wave flavor multiplet.Comment: 16 pages, 2 updated figures not included but available upon request,

RTT relations, a modified braid equation and noncommutative planes
With the known group relations for the elements of a quantum
matrix as input a general solution of the relations is sought without
imposing the Yang - Baxter constraint for or the braid equation for
. For three biparametric deformatios, and , the standard, the nonstandard and the
hybrid one respectively, or is found to depend, apart from the
two parameters defining the deformation in question, on an extra free parameter
,such that only for two values of , given explicitly for each case, one
has the braid equation. Arbitray corresponds to a class (conserving the
group relations independent of ) of the MQYBE or modified quantum YB
equations studied by Gerstenhaber, Giaquinto and Schak. Various properties of
the triparametric , and are
studied. In the larger space of the modified braid equation (MBE) even
can satisfy outside braid equation (BE)
subspace. A generalized, - dependent, Hecke condition is satisfied by each
3-parameter . The role of in noncommutative geometries of the
, and deformed planes is studied. K is found to
introduce a "soft symmetry breaking", preserving most interesting properties
and leading to new interesting ones. Further aspects to be explored are
indicated.Comment: Latex, 17 pages, minor change
