    A Framework for Scaffolding Learners' Self-Regulation in a Flipped Classroom Learning Environment

    Self-regulated learning is learning that is derived from a studentā€™s self-regulated thoughts and it is strategically oriented towards their learning goals. The need to guide and monitor studentsā€™ self-regulation is crucial since it has become an integral part of their learning process. Throughout the process, technologies also have been integrated into the educational scene, and one of the approaches that exist nowadays is flipped classrooms. Previous research has proven that if a studentā€™s self-regulation is being monitored, their performance might as well increase, along with their selfregulation skills. As a result, this paper proposes a framework for scaffolding studentsā€™ self-regulation in a flipped classroom learning environment. The proposed framework may be useful to practitioners and online learning instructors. The implication of a self-regulated flipped classroom approach towards studentsā€™ self-regulation and studentsā€™ achievement in learning have been discussed. Finally, the success factors for implementing the proposed framework and some future research directions have also been discussed.     The evaluation of problem-solving oriented e-module in learning computer-based subject

    It is tough and challenging to learn several computer-based subjects via an online learning setting during COVID-19 for students from the education field. It required a lot of skills, techniques, understanding among students, and the ability to think critically to solve problems. To date, a lack of studies provides digital content as learning approaches to computer-based subject students for their learning via online learning. Thus, the problem-solving oriented e-module in learning computer-based subject via Facebook for Higher Education was proposed. An exploratory sequential research design (qualitative and then quantitative approach) has been used in this study. Research samples were selected based on purposive sampling (10 students) to find out what they needed from the e-module. Then, the module was developed based on ADDIE Model and problem-solving learning strategy. There were nine experts validated the e-module in terms of the ADDIE model approach, problem-solving approach, and content. This module was tested on 34 undergraduate students towards studentsā€™ performance and social presence for quantitative part. The t-test showed that the e-module significantly improved student performance (p 0.00; t=5.52) with Cohenā€™s d=0.944. Interestingly, the results from the content analysis show that this module fosters social presence via Facebook learning groups such as interactive, affective, and cohesive

    Favourable approach that influence autism students learning language process

    Education is important for all, including those students with special needs.In this context, learning process for students with special needsis certainly different from normal students, with special developed curriculum, as well as special skills for teachers are devotedfor teaching specific courses.This study investigatesthe special education teachersā€™approach in teaching phonics of the language (i.e. Bahasa Melayu)for autism students, focusing on three elements; namely learning module, oral language and multimedia application. A survey study was designed using questionnaire involving 42 special education teachers from primary schools in the Southern Peninsular of Malaysia.Descriptive analysis were used to obtain percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The results;a moderate level application of the module (M = 3.43, SD = 0.654) and the oral language (M = 3.64, SD = 0.570), but a high level of the multimedia application(M = 4.14, SD = 0.612). The multimedia elements wasthe most favorable approach in the teaching and learning process of autism students.The implication;more special design of a multimedia materials are needed for teaching phonics for language learning to help autism students to speaking correctly

    An Observation on Implementation of Classroom Assessment in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Subject Area

    Classroom assessment is continuously assessment throughout the teaching and learning process and used in totally in every subjects. Assessment is designed to provide the understanding and help school administrators and teachers in performing assessment process in order to obtain the feedback on students learning development and pedagogical effectiveness. However, there been an issue of assessment that faced by teachers which is the lack of training and skills in techniques that effect the level of confidence in implementation of school based assessment. Therefore, this study aims to identify the problems faced by teachers in implementing classroom assessment for one of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) subject area which is Design and Technology. Respondents comprised of 26 teachers were randomly selected from 15 secondary schools in Johor. Descriptive studies of qualitative research were selected to get an idea on experiences and the data would be segmented according to the coding scheme using thematic analysis methods. The results showed that the major problem in management of classroom assessment processes faced by teachers were on insufficient resources. Besides, the analysis results also shows that other main difficulties in conducting the classroom evaluation process is on student performance and in the process of classroom assessment were on time management. Whereas, the resources used by teachers to help students in the classroom assessment process emphasizing on the use of digital resources. Thus, it can be concluded that the classroom assessment process implemented by the teacher has not yet achieved the goals set by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and teachers need more resources to implement classroom assessment process in order to achieve the outcome of the learning

    Mobile augmented reality in learning chemistry subject: an evaluation of science exploration

    Various technologies have been used in making teaching and learning sessions more effective, fun, and enjoyable. One of the ways to make teaching and learning interactive is by emphasizing the use of mobile augmented reality (MAR). Thus, this study has proposed using MAR for a chemistry subject, namely science exploration (SCIENEX). This study adopted design and development research (DDR) by employing the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation (ADDIE) model. The phases involved in DDR are ADDIE. SCIENEX was evaluated based on its validity, usability, and effectiveness. Five experts validated SCIENEX after it had been completely developed. The samples for usability testing and effectiveness of SCIENEX were 30 secondary school students who were studying chemistry. The results of the evaluation of the expertsā€™ validation revealed that SCIENEX is a valid and appropriate MAR application for the learning of topics in chemistry. The result also revealed that the majority of students strongly agreed that SCIENEX is appropriate for the usage of MAR in learning chemistry, as it is fun, easy to use, and helps students to understand their learning. Interestingly, SCIENEX could increase studentsā€™ performance in their learning (t=21.754; p=0.000). Thus, it can be concluded that SCIENEX is valid, can be used for learning chemistry, and can help students in their learning. The limitations of this study and future suggestions for research are also discussed

    Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kesan pembelajaran berasaskan inkuiri melalui model 5E terhadap kemahiran literasi Sains dan pencapaian murid menerusi persekitaran pembelajaran dalam talian iaitu aplikasi Google Classroom. Reka bentuk kajian ini adalah berbentuk kuantitatif iaitu kajian pra-eksperimental satu kumpulan pra dan pasca-ujian. Sampel kajian ini terdiri daripada 30 orang murid Tahun 6 yang dipilih melalui teknik persampelan bertujuan manakala proses pengumpulan data pula mengambil masa selama empat minggu. Data kajian diperoleh melalui instrumen seperti borang soal selidik, borang senarai semak dan ujian pra dan pasca pencapaian Sains yang merangkumi topik Daya Geseran. Data kemudiannya dianalisis menggunakan analisis deskriptif dan analisis inferensi. Analisis inferensi melibatkan Ujian Wilcoxon Signed Rank menggunakan perisian SPSS. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan tahap kesediaan murid adalah berada pada tahap yang memuaskan di mana majoriti pelajar bersetuju bahawa pembelajaran dalam talian memberi manfaat kepada mereka. Dapatan kajian juga mendapati kemahiran literasi Sains murid adalah memberangsangkan di mana hampir kesemua murid mempunyai kemahiran literasi Sains yang memuaskan setelah melalui persekitaran pembelajaran berasaskan inkuiri menerusi aplikasi Google Classroom. Akhir sekali, dapatan kajian mendapati bahawa terdapatnya perbezaan yang signifikan diantara markah purata pra dan pasca ujian dalam pencapaian Sains murid. Kesimpulannya, melalui kajian ini, pengkaji mendapati pembelajaran berasaskan inkuiri melalui model 5E dapat meningkatkan kemahiran dan pencapaian literasi Sains pelajar melalui persekitaran pembelajaran dalam talian iaitu aplikasi Google Classroom

    A Comprehensive Study of Studentsā€™ Challenges and Perceptions of Emergency Remote Education During the Early COVID-19 Pandemic: A Systematic Literature Review

    Since year 2020, researchers have conducted research on challenges and perceptions of emergency remote teaching and learning (ERTL) during the COVID-19 pandemic on students. Many studies were conducted on the effectiveness of online learning, but there is a lack of studies on ERTL where online learning differs from ERTL. Thus, this study aims to identify the challenges and perceptions of students on ERTL during the early COVID-19. The methodology employed in this study are systematic literature review which used Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA), synthesis analysis and quality appraisal to review 51 selected articles. These articles are from two publishers (ScienceDirect and IEEE) and two databases (ERIC and Scopus). This study revealed that students experienced four types of challenges during the early period of ERTL namely technological, pedagogical, personal, and social issues. However, students have positive perceptions toward ERTL to pursue their studies during the difficult period. This study highlighted the studentsā€™ challenges and perceptions of ERTL during the COVID-19 pandemic in higher education. It is believed that this study will help future researchers to develop a strategic ERTL specifically for implementation during any crises in the future

    The Design and Development of Augmented Reality (AR) Application for Internet Evolution Learning Topics

    Education field has seen numerous revolutions and innovations that have altered the teaching and learning process through the emergence of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) which provides numerous benefits to both educators and students. However, there is concern that students focus in the classroom becomes less due to the lack of pleasurable during the teaching and learning sessions. Thus, the existence of learning using Augmented Reality (AR) applications seems to help students improve their thinking skills in terms of cognitive as well as behaviourism. Therefore, this study proposed the Design and Development of Augmented Reality (AR) Application for Internet Evolution Learning Topics known as AREvo. The methodology used in this study was based on a design and development research (DDR) and ADDIE Model were used for designed and developed AREvo. Several platforms and software were used to develop AREvo. Several experts in Creative Multimedia field from higher education were appointed to evaluate the AREvo in terms of its functionality, content design, interaction design and presentation. The data analyze and obtained is in the form of frequency and feedback. Result revealed that AREvo application can be used as an additional material for instructors as well as students who are taking basic ICT course. In addition, AREvo is expected to provide a positive impact in terms of functionality and usability of this AR application in the present and also in the future
