Sendo o profissional nutricionista de grande importância no acompanhamento nutricional de pacientes obesos, hipertensos, diabéticos, entre outras patologias. Tornou-se muito importante nos dias atuais, onde é cada vez maior a preocupação com a saúde e com a estética, mas ainda comete-se muitos erros alimentares, por essa razão é imprescindível informação científica sobre alimentos e nutrição, bem como conselhos para melhorar a saúde.     Toxicity of Castor bean oil on Helicoverpa zea and Trichogramma pretiosum

    O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar os efeitos do óleo de mamona sobre a broca-grande do tomateiro, Helicoverpa zea, e sobre o parasitoide de ovos Trichogramma pretiosum. Foi determinada a mortalidade larval da broca, que foi submetida ao óleo de mamona por ingestão e contato às concentrações 0,5, 1,0, 1,5, 2,0, 2,5 e 3,0% (v v-1). A ação do óleo de mamona sobre T. pretiosum foi determinada mediante testes de seletividade e suscetibilidade. As maiores mortalidades de larvas foram observadas no tratamento por contato com as menores concentrações (0,5 e 1,0%), enquanto com as concentrações intermediárias (1,5; 2,0 e 2,5%), não houve diferença entre as vias de aplicação. À maior concentração testada (3,0%), o tratamento por ingestão proporcionou mortalidade superior àquela obtida por contato. O número de ovos parasitados por T. pretiosum, no teste de seletividade, foi afetado negativamente pelo óleo de mamona, contudo, os demais parâmetros avaliados quanto à seletividade e à suscetibilidade não foram afetados. O óleo de mamona reduz a sobrevivência de larvas de H. zea tanto por ingestão quanto por contato. Além disso, não prejudica o desenvolvimento de T. pretiosum, desde que as pulverizações sejam realizadas após as liberações do parasitoide.The objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of castor bean oil on the tomato fruitworm, Helicoverpa zea, and on the egg parasitoid Trichogramma pretiosum. Mortality of tomato fruitworm was determined for larvae subjected to castor bean oil ingestion and contact at concentrations 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 e 3.0% (v v-1). The castor bean oil action on T. pretiosum was determined by selectivity and susceptibility tests. The greatest larvae mortalities were observed in the treatment by contact with the lowest concentrations (0.5 and 1.0%), while at intermediate concentrations (1.5, 2.0, and 2.5%) there were no differences between the ways of application. At the highest tested concentration of castor bean oil (3.0%), the ingestion treatment caused a higher mortality, in comparison to the treatment by contact. The number of eggs parasitized by T. pretiosum was negatively affected by castor bean oil in the selectivity test; however, other evaluated parameters for selectivity and susceptibility were not affected. Castor bean oil reduces survival of H. zea larvae both by ingestion and contact. In addition, it does not affect the development of T. pretiosum, since sprayings are performed after releasing of the parasitoid

    The The work presents the entrance of the Florida steam tug in the category of underwater archaeological site of shipwreck, whose sinking occurred in the sea adjacent to the coast of Pernambuco on June 28, 1917. Its official rite of passage, as a submerged cultural heritage of the Pernambuco coast, occurs due to the 2001 Paris Convention. Florida is part of the Pernambuco Shipwreck Park that contemplates something about 50 scientifically exploitable vessels of different classes, size, propulsion, material and varied construction techniques, from the 17th century to the XXI. In this context it is diagnosed the factor causing its shipwreck, identified accessories and apparatuses still visible and described the tragic maritime history of its crew, aiming at the possible creation of a submerged museum in situ

    Adaptation of technique for rearing of the coffee berry borer [Hypothenemus hampei (Ferrari)]

    The objective of this study was to evaluate rearing techniques of the coffee berry borer, using different natural food sources, forms of asepsis and the storage. The number of offspring produced was evaluated using arabica coffee in beans, arabica coffee in parchment and robusta coffee in beans. For the asepsis of these coffees was used a commercial product based on P2O5 (PCB-P2O5, 30 mL/20 L water), Sodium Hypochlorite (NaClO 5% v v-1) and distilled water (control), these separated in two batches after the asepsis process, one used immediately and the other stored at -20 ºC for 60 days for further use. Among the types of used coffee as a food source in the control (without asepsis), the robusta coffee in beans was the best for the rearing of the coffee berry borer and produced 464.2 insects. For the arabica coffee in beans and in parchment, using asepsis with NaClO and PCB-P2O5, respectively, these did not affect the development of the coffee berry borer and increased the number of individuals produced. When used for the rearing of the coffee berry borer, robusta coffee in beans and performed the asepsis with PCB-P2O5, was produced 535.6 insects. The coffee storage in freezer at -20 ºC for 60 days can in some cases reduce the number of offsprings of the coffee berry borer, but it is important for insect maintenance during the off-season. The best technique for rearing of the coffee berry borer is in robust coffee in beans, using the asepsis with PCB-P2O5, beyond this coffee is less costly

    Returns to publicly owned transport infrastructure investment. A cost function/cost share approach for Norway, 1971-1991

    An issue of major concern to politicians and policy-makers around the world today is whether transport infrastructure investments, such as those in roads and airports, generate enough economic benefits to justify their very large price tag. Beginning in the mid 1970s, nearly all OECD countries experienced a sustained decline both in public investment and in private sector output. Since infrastructure comprises the vast majority of public capital in these countries, this led many economists to conclude that underinvestment in infrastructure was largely responsible for the low growth rates in output and productivity which were experienced by these countries. In our paper, we discuss the findings in the literature with respect to both econometric and modeling deficiencies. Based on these criticisms, we develop a cost function modeling approach which includes public transport infrastructure capital, perform an econometric analysis and discuss several of our estimates of infrastructure productivity effects. The paper concludes that, in nearly all production sectors (except oil/agriculture), the public transport infrastructure investments made in Norway over the last 20 years significantly reduced private production costs and altered demand for private inputs.
