«Na ssciacquata de bbocca»: I sonetti romaneschi di Belli in Primo Levi
EnglishAll of Levi's characters have a real model and a literary one. Caesar, one of the protagonists of La tregua was called Lello Perugia, but in Se questo e un uomo had already been presented as Piero Sonnino. No other character has had an official identity so uncertain. This is perhaps due to the greater weight of the preceding literature. The character is modelled on Caesar's sonnets in Roman dialect by Giuseppe G. Belli, which Levi had known since his university years and would continue to love into his later years, when he would include four in the anthology La ricerca delle radici. This text examines Levi's linguistic choices and compares them with the Belli model, in intertextual analysis that broadens the survey with tales ("Il ritorno di Cesare") and essays ("Del pettegolezzo"). The book explores and links different cultures, disciplines and perspectives, with a far more original and broad approach to the relations between “Justice” and “Literature” than more traditional works focused on “Law” and “Literature”. The many contributions from writers, literature and movie critics, psychologists, and criminal law practitioners and scholars, draw a complex and interdisciplinary path through primary texts of Italian and international literature, with the aim of prompting readers’ reflections about core issues related to law, crime, and responsibility. Through the analysis of masterpieces of literature, theatre and cinema, this book aims at stimulating dialogue and debate, as well as critical abilities and a deep-rooted sense of justice, amongst both law professionals and citizens at large. Literature and other forms of narration are presented here as a privileged key to approach long-standing questions about (amongst other) causes and consequences of crime; victimization and coping mechanisms; the role of criminal law and criminal proceedings; legalism and equity; law and ethics; the ‘time’ of justice; freedom, responsibility, culpability and forgiveness; rules, legality, socialization and culture; language and images as mediums for justice issues; the impact of prejudice and of existing balances of power on the application of the law; social and legal mechanisms of exclusion and inclusion; gender issues and legal systems; and so on. A whole section (Part V) is devoted to crimes against humanity and how the literary testimony may be understood both as a strategy to resist injustice and to seek justice, and as a way to prevent further horrors. Through this quest for justice in literature and arts, the volume proposes a wider cultural and research project which defies traditional formalistic and retributive approaches to criminal law, in order to open new perspectives for restorative and reintegrative strategies

Réformes. Comprendre et comparer les religions
La réforme et la religion - les deux concepts, une fois mis en rapport l'un avec l'autre, provoquent chez certains des appréhensions, ou tout au moins une demande d'information. Quelle en est la signification? Dans le domaine de la science politique, le discours sur la et les réformes s'est en grande partie imposé et la "réforme" est un concept qui est presque devenu à la mode. Donc il est presque un devoir que les religions s'expriment non seulement sur les questions sociales et culturelles, mais qu'elles essaient également, pour le bien-être de l'humanité, de formuler des positions communes aux questions sociales sur la base des convictions éthiques réciproques. Dans ce sens, l'idée de réforme acquière une importance particulière, parce qu'elle appelle, dans le contexte du changement des facteurs sociaux, économiques, culturels et politiques à trouver de nouvelles réponses et de promouvoir une attitude d'historicité, sans changer la vérité. La discussion à ce propos vient seulement de commencer, et dans cette perspective ce tome devrait fournir une contribution pour cette discussion
