a b s t r a c t a r t i c l e i n f o Food well-being (FWB) is defined as "a positive psychological, physical, emotional, and social relationship with food at both the individual and societal levels" (Block et al., 2011, p. 6). This article seeks to advance our understanding of FWB along two dimensions. First, we discuss how awareness of consumer goals, as well as motivation and readiness to change, may help us to understand consumer preparedness to advance FWB. Second, we deconstruct the automatic and deliberative influences on food decision making into cognitive and emotional information that guide food choices and can be used by consumers to advance their own FWB. We close with a discussion of how measurement and strategies to influence FWB may allow researchers, policymakers, and industry to help consumers advance FWB

Background: pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is an uncommon dermatosis with a limited evidence base for treatment. Objective: to estimate the effectiveness of topical therapies in the treatment of PG. Methods: prospective cohort study of UK secondary care patients with a clinical diagnosis of PG suitable for topical treatment (recruited July 2009 to June 2012). Participants received topical therapy following normal clinical practice (mainly Class I-III topical corticosteroids, tacrolimus 0.03% or 0.1%). Primary outcome: speed of healing at 6 weeks. Secondary outcomes: proportion healed by 6 months; time to healing; global assessment; inflammation; pain; quality-of-life; treatment failure and recurrence. Results: Sixty-six patients (22 to 85 years) were enrolled. Clobetasol propionate 0.05% was the most commonly prescribed therapy. Overall, 28/66 (43.8%) of ulcers healed by 6 months. Median time-to-healing was 145 days (95% CI: 96 days, ∞). Initial ulcer size was a significant predictor of time-to-healing (hazard ratio 0.94 (0.88;80 1.00); p = 0.043). Four patients (15%) had a recurrence. Limitations: No randomised comparator Conclusion: Topical therapy is potentially an effective first-line treatment for PG that avoids possible side effects associated with systemic therapy. It remains unclear whether more severe disease will respond adequately to topical therapy alone

This research attempts to determine if a customer\u27s visible physical characteristics influence retail service delivery. The results of this study suggest that black and male customers wait significantly longer than white and female customers at retail customer service counters. In addition, females are more likely to experience a positive transaction outcome than males

Sales Forecast in a Personal Selling Intensive Industry: An Empirical Analysis of the Repeat Purchase Diffusion Model

    No full text
It is essential for managers in personal selling-intensive industries to find the optimal mix of personal selling and other promotional efforts to forecast sales, meet sales projections and avoid costly marketplace failures. To that end, we develop and test a repeat purchase diffusion model that allows for the impact of personal selling, pricing and other promotional activities (advertising and sampling) on the adoption of a new product. This model recognizes manager-defined segments of prescribers and incorporates a manager\u27s judgments on the distribution of resources among these various segments. Prescribers are categorized as potential new prescribers and repeat prescribers, based upon sales call attractiveness ratings provided by the sales organization. Market potential is then a function of sales call activity. Our results provide the marketing manager in a personal selling-intensive industry more feedback on the impact that variations in marketing activities could have on new product sales than previously available

The focus of this thesis is the creation of illustrations for the purpose of exploring emotions in educational work. The thesis is presented in several thematical sections which relate to different stages of research of the subject matter. After the introductory part, in which the goals and purpose of the thesis are defined, comes the exploration of emotion itself. Results of various scientific research on the topic of emotions are introduced, it is defined how an individual develops emotionally aswell as socially and, finally, how emotions are expressed. A focused insight into the practical side of the subject matter begins in chapter three with observations of portraying emotions in Walt Disney's illustrative works and in the animated movie „Inside Out“ produced by Pixar. Next, the analysis of how a character is created from the process of concieving to actually drawing a specific character as well as an insight into artistic solutions of other artists who conveyed objects as self-active beings is researched and presented. In section five, the whole process of character creation is portrayed through an originally conceptalized character Žarulja Žarka in various emotional states. The analysis is completed by suggestions of application in which the created character can be used as a tool to attribute to the activities for research of emotions
