Migration is generally described as a process that is nationally specific and that have features common to several countries. This has been shown by several authors through comparative research that compares the migration process of the same immigrant group to several countries (among others, Engbersen, Snel, & de Boom, 2010) or which scrutinises the migration realities of different countries (Zimmermann, 2005). Most of these studies are about geographically near countries, which are part of the same political system (the EU), and that have an established (albeit differentiated) welfare system. These proximities (geographical, but also political and social) allowed the authors of these studies to conceptualise the existence of several migration models or regimes: the southern European model (Baldwin-Edwards, 2012), the Iberian model of Migration (Malheiros, 2012); the intra-EU mobility regime (Engbersen et al., 2017). These migratory regimes are intertwined by migrant integration models or by different approaches to increasingly diverse populations. Although these are often identified as ‘national models of integration’, they do not fail to integrate the developments that have been recorded in the last decades in the international contexts in which the countries are inserted. Throughout the present text, the Portuguese experience in dealing with immigrant integration is used to reflect on the development of intercultural policies and practices, and on the role of intercultural mediation. The article is structured in the following way: in the introductory section we will review the discussion on interculturalism; in a second section the Portuguese immigration context will be presented; in a third section the integration of immigrants in the country will be analysed, given special attention to the development of policies that support immigrants’ integration process. A mediação intercultural em contexto escolar: da diferença como deficiência à diferença como ferramenta pedagógica e identitária

Depois de apresentarmos uma caracterização geral da estrutura da população estrangeira no concelho de Leiria (ponto 1), com recurso a dados do INE, e de percebermos como ela se reflete num agrupamento de escolas da cidade de Leiria, solicitámos informação sobre a heterogeneidade cultural do referido agrupamento. Numa primeira resposta, a secretaria fez-nos chegar um documento com todos os ciclos de ensino e, na frente, o n.º de imigrantes, sem qualquer identificação de proveniência ou nacionalidade. Contudo, abriram uma categoria para o grupo “etnia” e outro para as “NEE” (Necessidades Educativas Especiais). Só numa segunda abordagem, e sem utilizar quaisquer moralismos ou críticas sociopedagógicas relativamente à arrumação da diversidade cultural efetuada pelos serviços e direção do agrupamento, solicitámos que nos facultassem a distribuição por nacionalidades e grupos étnicos. As respostas são sistematizadas em quadros no ponto 2 e mostram daltonismo cultural perante o que é a diferença cultural e a diferença entre os filhos de imigrantes distintos. Por outro lado, esse entendimento da diversidade cultural, algo controverso, alimenta e gere projetos de trabalho social e mediação sociopedagógica que consideramos patologizadores, na medida em que a diferença parece ser tratada como deficiência (ponto 3, 4 e 5 do texto)

Methodology for Seamless Supply Chain Planning

Today, enterprises are typically in a constant process of acquiring and updating its information technologies, however typically without an overall view of the global inter and intra enterprise’s system integration. Researchers have been proposing methodologies and platforms to assist such integration of applications and data. However, implementing new technologies in organizations is a difficult task, since its quality needs for architectures development are more exigent and critical than ever, due to the systems complexity, dimension and to the interoperability requirements to interact with third party applications and infrastructures. This paper proposes a methodology for seamless Supply Chain Planning (SCP), by using a domain reference ontology, data model representation standards, software components evaluation and interoperability checking processes. The methodology VALTE is used to assure that enterprises use tools for SCP compliant to semantics, represented in a common reference ontology, created by the MENTOR methodology. These two horizontal methodologies are vertically supported by interoperability checking processes, which assure an interoperable supply chain planning system

Um estudo sobre os impactos da surpresa da política monetária na atividade econômica brasileira

Este trabalho estuda os impactos da política monetária nas variáveis reais da economia brasileira. Será testado o efeito de movimentos não-esperados da política monetária sobre a atividade econômica e o desemprego com base nos modelos Neoclássicos e Novo-Keynesianos, cuja importância para o comportamento das variáveis reais é a parte não-esperada da política monetária. Como medida de surpresa da política monetária, será utilizado o erro de previsão do mercado para a taxa de juros estabelecida pela autoridade monetária.This work studies the impacts of the monetary policy in the real variables of the Brazilian economy. It will be tested the unanticipated movements of the monetary policy in the economic activity and unemployment according whit the Neoclassical and new Keynesians models, which the importance the real variables is the unanticipated component of the monetary policy. As measure of surprise it will be used the error forecast for the interest rate established by the monetary authority

General knowledge and attitudes about safety and emergency evacuation: the case of a higher education institution

The implementation of a safety culture and awareness of emergency issues in buildings has been growing in more developed societies. It is essential that all occupants know how to act in an emergency situation, particularly during an emergency evacuation. In higher education institutions (HEIs), which annually host not only their many employees, but also national and international students, it is essential to know and understand the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors that the academic community demonstrates in this matter. This study aimed to characterize the perception of occupants regarding safety, specifically in the emergency evacuation phase, within the academic community of an HEI. In this observational cross-sectional study, data on general knowledge and attitudes regarding safety and actions during emergency situations were collected through an anonymous questionnaire targeting students, faculty, and non-teaching staff, which was sent via institutional email. Valid responses were received from 392 participants and then scored and assessed on different domains. The results obtained showed that, despite a reasonable average regarding the general level of knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of the occupants on the subject, the community falls somewhat short in terms of training. It is noteworthy that approximately 64% of the sample has never received awareness or training related to emergency evacuation, and around 68% are unaware of the location of their institution’s meeting/gathering point. Finally, by identifying the most common gaps, namely the training dimension, some simple measures could be improved, such as the dissemination of safety instructions accessible through QR codes placed in strategic locations or even conducting small drills during class sessions, as well as learning with simulation concerning different scenarios of emergency.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Educador social eu sou: quem eu era e no que me tornei, como e com quem...

Este texto resulta da análise dos primeiros dados recolhidos no âmbito de um projeto maior que se dá pelo nome de “Educadores sociais em Portugal: quem são, onde estão e o que fazem? Identidades e Transformações”. Os seus autores estão ligados ao desenvolvimento da educação/pedagogia social em Portugal e dos seus profissionais, os educadores sociais, que têm acompanhado em formações de licenciatura, mestrado e doutorado, em estágios em diversas instituições socioeducativas, de reinserção social, de acolhimento familiar, e em escolas que assumem que a educação começa fora da escola, passa por ela e estende-se para além dela. O educador social é, assim, um mediador intercultural, um mediador socioeducativo, um construtor de pontes entre culturas, pessoas, grupos e comunidades, que tem formação académica para o efeito, mas que, como aqui pretendemos apontar, nas palavras dos sujeitos escutados, tem momentos marcantes que só ele pode assinalar, momentos formativos que considera significativos na sua história de vida para chegar a ser o profissional que é.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Educación para la sostenibilidad: entre la vida escolar y la escuela de la vida

Neste texto, apresentamos alguns dados de uma investigação em curso cujo objetivo principal passa por entender as perceções e práticas que pessoas de várias faixas etárias possuem relativamente a questões de sustentabilidade. Desenvolvemos, inicialmente, uma abordagem teórica sobre a sustentabilidade no âmbito dos Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS), das Nações Unidas (CONSELHO EMPRESARIAL PARA O DESENVOLVIMENTO SUSTENTÁVEL [BCSD], 2021). Em termos empíricos, entrevistámos quatro sujeitos com as seguintes idades: 15, 22, 61 e 70 anos. Posteriormente à transcrição das entrevistas, fizemos uma análise comparativa das vozes captadas a propósito da importância que atribuem às práticas de sustentabilidade. Tentamos, assim, perceber de que forma a idade e o contexto sociocultural dessas pessoas influenciam as práticas e perceções que elas possuem sobre o tema da sustentabilidade.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
