Inteligencia interpersonal : conceptos clave
El propósito de este trabajo es el de delimitar el espacio conceptual de la inteligencia interpersonal, relacionándolo con las situaciones en las cuales se utiliza. Para ello se establecen, en primer lugar, los aspectos relacionados con la naturaleza intelectual y el tipo de objetos representados. Sigue un apartado dedicado a los orÃgenes de la misma y su función en la adaptación de la especie humana. Un tercer apartado trata del tipo de procedimientos adecuados para su medición, no como una recopilación de instrumentos comúnmente utilizados, sino como una manera de hacer explÃcitos qué tipo de indicios son buena prueba de este tipo de inteligencia. A continuación se describen algunas de las principales confusiones asociadas a la idea de esta forma de inteligencia, integrando finalmente todos los aspectos tratados en el apartado de conclusionesThe purpose of this paper is to delimit the conceptual space of interpersonal intelligence, relating it to situations in which it is used. To this end, we first identify some aspects of an intellectual nature and the type of objects represented. The next section is devoted to the origins of interpersonal intelligence and its role in human adaptation. Los depósitos epitermales de Ag-Au de Temascaltepec (Estado de México), México
El distrito de Temascaltepec, situado en la parte SW del estado de México (México), consta de tres zonas principales con depósitos epitermales de baja sulfuración, denominados Mina de Agua, El Coloso y La Guitarra. Estos depósitos se hallan situados metalogenéticamente en la parte meridional del cinturón argentÃfero que se extiende paralelamente a la costa PacÃfica de México. El inicio de la actividad minera conocida en la zona data del siglo XVI. El yacimiento más importante de distrito es el sistema La Guitarra, actualmente explotado para Ag-Au, que está compuesto por varios filones encajados en un stock granÃtico tardi-larámide, y se relaciona temporal y genéticamente con el vulcanismo andesÃtico-riolÃtico de la Sierra Madre Occidental. Dos dataciones en adularia mediante termocronologÃa de Ar-Ar dieron edades entre 33.3 y 33.1 M.a. (Oligoceno inferior). Las leyes medias que contiene son de 3.23 ppm Au, 311 ppm Ag. 515 ppm Cu, 0,15% Pb y 0,29% Zn; las leyes de corte son 1.5 ppm Au y 150 ppm Ag.
Las reservas existentes en el año 1997 se estimaron en 380,000 t. La Guitarra consta de tres fases principales de mineralización (I, II y III) y cuatro subfases (A, B, C y D) en la fase II. Las asociaciones minerales más tempranas en cada fase son sulfuros de metales de base, mientras que las más tardÃas contienen los minerales de Ag y Au, la abundancia relativa de los cuales aumenta con la elevación en el sistema y con el tiempo. La fase I carece de Au y su contenido de minerales de Ag es muy bajo. La fase III tiene el mayor contenido relativo de minerales de Ag y Au. En general, las asociaciones de metales preciosos (fases I, IIB y III) se inician con sulfosales de Cu-Ag y/o sufosales de Pb-Ag y terminan con sulfosales de Ag. Los principales minerales portadores de Ag del depósito son proustita-pirargirita y tetredritasagentÃferas. Existe una estrecha relación entre estasúltimas y el electrum
Metallogenic model of the Eocene Santa MarÃa and Antares Zn-Pb(-Ag) skarn deposits, Velardeña Mining District, Durango, Mexico
The Santa MarÃa and Antares Zn-Pb(-Ag) skarn deposits in the Velardeña Mining District are located in central–NW Mexico. They lie 470 m apart along the contact between Oligocene felsic intrusions and Cretaceous limestones, and were developed during prograde, retrograde, post-ore (Santa MarÃa), and late stages. Firstly, the prograde stage was formed by fluids at¿~¿600 °C and 15 wt% NaCl equiv., and consists of garnet¿+¿wollastonite¿±¿clinopyroxene and biotite¿±¿K-feldspar assemblages. Secondly, the retrograde/ore stage was formed by fluids at 300–500 °C with salinities of 20–30 wt% CaCl2 (Santa MarÃa) and¿>¿40 wt% NaCl equiv. (Antares). It comprises assemblages of chlorite, amphibole, epidote, calcite, scapolite, quartz, sericite, adularia, fluorite, and muscovite associated with sphalerite, pyrite, galena, pyrrhotite, arsenopyrite, chalcopyrite, and Pb-Bi-Sb sulfosalts. Thirdly, the post-ore stage was formed by fluids at¿~¿400 °C and 20–30 wt.% CaCl2 and comprises poorly mineralized calcite veins. Fourthly, the late stage was formed by fluids at¿<¿300 °C and 20–30 wt.% CaCl2 (Santa MarÃa) and¿~¿15 wt% NaCl equiv. (Antares), and crystallized tetrahedrite-group minerals and pyrite¿+¿marcasite. d18Ofluid between¿~¿14‰ and 23‰ at Santa MarÃa and between¿~¿12‰ and 17‰ at Antares show a less-modified magmatic affinity for mineralizing fluids at Antares; d13Cfluid between 0‰ and –6‰ register recycling of sedimentary C. Moreover, sulfides with d34SVCDT between –3‰ and 2‰ reveal a magmatic source for S. Altogether, these data suggest that, at Santa MarÃa, magmatic-derived fluids actively interacted with the wall rocks, whereas at Antares the fluid-rock interaction was milder. In both deposits, metal deposition was triggered by the cooling and neutralization of ore-bearing fluids with carbonate rocks. Our 40Ar/39Ar dates for adularia of ca. 37.5 Ma place the deposits within the Eocene–early Miocene metallogenetic epoch of central–NW Mexico, during which other world-class skarn-epithermal systems were emplaced (e.g., Concepción del Oro and Mazapil-Peñasquito).The Consejo Nacional de Humanidades, Ciencia y TeconologÃa (CONAHCyT) supported N.C. with a grant during his M.Sc. studies, and this paper constitutes a substantial part of his associated research. Patient safety culture in orthopaedics surgery. Influence of a training activities plan
Objetivo: Conocer las caracterÃsticas de la cultura de seguridad clÃnica en cirugÃa ortopédica y traumatologÃa, valorando la influencia de una intervención formativa en su tendencia evolutiva. Población y metodologÃa: Estudio observacional ecológico con intervención formativa. La población objeto de estudio fueron los profesionales del Servicio de CirugÃa Ortopédica y TraumatologÃa del Hospital ClÃnic Universitario de Barcelona. Se utilizó la versión española del cuestionario HSOPS para valorar la cultura de seguridad clÃnica. Resultados: El porcentaje de respuestas válidas obtenidas fue superior al 60% en las dos mediciones de la cultura realizadas. Las 12 dimensiones consideradas mejoraron su tendencia. El trabajo en equipo dentro del servicio se identificó como una dimensión de fortaleza del modelo. Conclusiones: La intervención formativa ha consolidado una tendencia favorable. La mejora de la cultura de seguridad clÃnica requiere tiempo y actuaciones periódicas
Surface functionalization of PLGA nanoparticles to increase transport across the BBB for Alzheimers disease
Alzheimers disease (AD) is a chronic neurodegenerative disorder that accounts for about 60% of all diagnosed cases of dementia worldwide. Although there are currently several drugs marketed for its treatment, none are capable of slowing down or stopping the progression of AD. The role of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) plays a key role in the design of a successful treatment for this neurodegenerative disease. Nanosized particles have been proposed as suitable drug delivery systems to overcome BBB with the purpose of increasing bioavailability of drugs in the brain. Biodegradable poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) nanoparticles (PLGA-NPs) have been particularly regarded as promising drug delivery systems as they can be surface-tailored with functionalized molecules for site-specific targeting. In this review, a thorough discussion about the most recent functionalization strategies based on PLGA-NPs for AD and their mechanisms of action is provided, together with a description of AD pathogenesis and the role of the BBB in brain targeting.A.C. Biodegradable nanoparticles for the treatment of epilepsy: from current advances to future challenges
Epilepsy is the second most prevalent neurological disease worldwide. It is mainly characterized by an electrical abnormal activity in different brain regions. The massive entrance of Ca2+ into neurons is the main neurotoxic process that lead to cell death and finally to neurodegeneration. Although there are a huge number of antiseizure medications, there are many patients who do not respond to the treatments and present refractory epilepsy. In this context, nanomedicine constitutes a promising alternative to enhance the central nervous system bioavailability of antiseizure medications. The encapsulation of different chemical compounds at once in a variety of controlled drug delivery systems gives rise to an enhanced drug effectiveness mainly due to their targeting and penetration into the deepest brain region and the protection of the drug chemical structure. Prevention of Unplanned Hospital Admissions in Multimorbid Patients Using Computational Modeling: Observational Retrospective Cohort Study
Background: Enhanced management of multimorbidity constitutes a major clinical challenge. Multimorbidity shows well-established causal relationships with the high use of health care resources and, specifically, with unplanned hospital admissions. Enhanced patient stratification is vital for achieving effectiveness through personalized postdischarge service selection. Objective: The study has a 2-fold aim: (1) generation and assessment of predictive models of mortality and readmission at 90 days after discharge; and (2) characterization of patients' profiles for personalized service selection purposes. Methods: Gradient boosting techniques were used to generate predictive models based on multisource data (registries, clinical/functional and social support) from 761 nonsurgical patients admitted in a tertiary hospital over 12 months (October 2017 to November 2018). K-means clustering was used to characterize patient profiles. Results: Performance (area under the receiver operating characteristic curve, sensitivity, and specificity) of the predictive models was 0.82, 0.78, and 0.70 and 0.72, 0.70, and 0.63 for mortality and readmissions, respectively. A total of 4 patients' profiles were identified. In brief, the reference patients (cluster 1; 281/761, 36.9%), 53.7% (151/281) men and mean age of 71 (SD 16) years, showed 3.6% (10/281) mortality and 15.7% (44/281) readmissions at 90 days following discharge. The unhealthy lifestyle habit profile (cluster 2; 179/761, 23.5%) predominantly comprised males (137/179, 76.5%) with similar age, mean 70 (SD 13) years, but showed slightly higher mortality (10/179, 5.6%) and markedly higher readmission rate (49/179, 27.4%). Patients in the frailty profile (cluster 3; 152/761, 19.9%) were older (mean 81 years, SD 13 years) and predominantly female (63/152, 41.4%, males). They showed medical complexity with a high level of social vulnerability and the highest mortality rate (23/152, 15.1%), but with a similar hospitalization rate (39/152, 25.7%) compared with cluster 2. Finally, the medical complexity profile (cluster 4; 149/761, 19.6%), mean age 83 (SD 9) years, 55.7% (83/149) males, showed the highest clinical complexity resulting in 12.8% (19/149) mortality and the highest readmission rate (56/149, 37.6%). Conclusions: The results indicated the potential to predict mortality and morbidity-related adverse events leading to unplanned hospital readmissions. The resulting patient profiles fostered recommendations for personalized service selection with the capacity for value generation

An evaluation of the SENTiFIT 270 analyser for quantitation of faecal haemoglobin in the investigation of patients with suspected colorectal cancer.
BACKGROUND: An evaluation of SENTiFIT® 270 (Sentinel Diagnostics, Italy; Sysmex, Spain) analyser for the quantitation of faecal haemoglobin (f-Hb) was performed. METHODS: The analytical imprecision, linearity, carry over and f-Hb stability were determined. Evaluation of the diagnostic accuracy was performed on 487 patients. RESULTS: Within-run and between-run imprecision ranged 1.7%-5.1% and 3.8%-6.2%, respectively. Linearity studies revealed a mean recovery of 101.1% (standard deviation, 6.7%) for all dilutions. No carry over was detected below 7650 μg Hb/g faeces. Decay of f-Hb in refrigerated samples ranged 0.2%-0.5% per day. f-Hb in patients with advanced colorectal neoplasia (ACRN) (colorectal cancer [CRC] plus advanced adenoma [AA]) were significantly higher than from those with a normal colonoscopy. Sensitivity for ACRN at f-Hb cutoffs from 10 to 60 μg Hb/g faeces ranged from 28.9% (95% confidence interval [CI], 21.7%-37.2%) to 46.5% (95% CI, 38.1%-55%), the specificity ranged from 85% (95% CI, 82.3%-87.3%) to 93.2% (95% CI, 91.2%-94.8%), positive predictive values for detecting CRC and AA ranged from 11.6% (95% CI, 7.6%-17.2%) to 20.6% (95% CI, 13.3%-30.3%) and from 34.7% (95% CI, 28.1%-42%) to 42.3% (95% CI, 32.4%-52.7%), respectively, and the negative predictive value for ACRN ranged from 90.2% (95% CI, 87.9%-92.2%) to 88.4% (95% CI, 86%-90.4%). Using two samples per patient sensitivity increased with a slight decrease in specificity. CONCLUSIONS: The analytical and clinical performances of SENTiFIT assay demonstrate a specific and accurate test for detecting ACRN in symptomatic patients and those undergoing surveillance.
