    Required: Muslim Leadership

    Get PDF
The discussion about the position of religious leaders was already ongoing in the Netherlands before 11 September. After the attacks on the US, relations between Muslims and non-Muslims came under further pressure. The media, followed by the Dutch government and social organizations, began assiduously looking for the representatives and the spokespeople of the Muslims. The result was the rolling of Rolodexes with outdated or randomly gathered contacts

Efficient processing of raster and vector data

[Abstract] In this work, we propose a framework to store and manage spatial data, which includes new efficient algorithms to perform operations accepting as input a raster dataset and a vector dataset. More concretely, we present algorithms for solving a spatial join between a raster and a vector dataset imposing a restriction on the values of the cells of the raster; and an algorithm for retrieving K objects of a vector dataset that overlap cells of a raster dataset, such that the K objects are those overlapping the highest (or lowest) cell values among all objects. The raster data is stored using a compact data structure, which can directly manipulate compressed data without the need for prior decompression. This leads to better running times and lower memory consumption. In our experimental evaluation comparing our solution to other baselines, we obtain the best space/time trade-offs.Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades; TIN2016-78011-C4-1-RMinisterio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades; TIN2016-77158 C4-3-RMinisterio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades; RTC-2017-5908-7Xunta de Galicia; ED431C 2017/58Xunta de Galicia; ED431G/01Xunta de Galicia; IN852A 2018/14University of Bío-Bío; 192119 2/RUniversity of Bío-Bío; 195119 GI/V

Determining the Relationship Between the Frequency of Urinary Incontinence, Depression, Anxiety and Stress in Menopausal Women

    Get PDF
Objective:Though urinary incontinence (UI) is not a life-threatening health problem, it may have significant physical and psychological effects on women’s social and family life. Most women delay seeking help since they are embarrassed or do not consider UI a health problem, causing a gradual increase in the symptoms of UI. This study aims to determine the relationship between the frequency of UI, depression, anxiety, stress and quality of life in menopause women.Method:The sample of this descriptive study comprised 112 participants from Northern Cyprus between October and December 2022. Personal information form, urogenital distress inventory (UDI-6), incontinence impact questionnaire (IIQ-7) and depression, anxiety, stress scale-21 (DASS-21) were used for data collection. The non-parametric Mann-Whitney U test was used for two-group comparison. Spearman’s correlation coefficient was used to determine the relationship between two continuous variables. Number, percentage, mean and standard deviation were used as descriptive statistics. Statistical significance was set at p<0.05.Results:The mean scores obtained by the participants with UI from all scales and their subscales were significantly higher than the participants without UI (p<0.05). There was a positive, moderate and statistically significant relationship between the UDI-6, IIQ-7 and the depression, anxiety and stress subscales of DASS-21 (r=0.634, p<0.001; r=0.449, p<0.001; r=0.609, p<0.001; r=0.449, p<0.001, r=0.492 p<0.001, respectively). In addition, it was also found a positive, moderate and statistically significant relationship between the IIQ-7 and the depression, anxiety and stress subscales of DASS-21 (r=0.517, p<0.001; r=0.591, p<0.001; r=0.619, p<0.001, respectively). Conclusion:This study found that a higher frequency of UI in menopausal women reduced the quality of life and increased the levels of depression, anxiety and stress

Primary Small Cell Carcinoma of the Lung Presenting with Breast and Skin Metastases

    Get PDF
Cutaneous metastases originating from an internal cancer are relatively uncommon in clinical practice, and metastatic lesions to the breast are rarer than those to the skin. Skin metastases of lung cancer, which may be the first sign of the disease, usually indicate progressive disease and a poor prognosis. We describe a 47-year-old male who presented with recurring masses in the lumbar region bilaterally and the right breast. Immunohistochemical findings and radiological imaging suggested lung cancer. This is the first reported case of small cell lung cancer metastasizing to two separate, uncommon sites, the skin and breast

Utilization of Water Hyacinth and Banana Wastes Compost in Reclamation of Sandy Soils for Increasing Growth, Yield of Cowpea

Pot experiments were carried out in the greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture, Fayoum University, to study the effect of water hyacinth and banana wastes compost (0, 10, 15 and 20 ton/fed) combined with inorganic nitrogenous fertilizers namely ammonium sulphate, ammonium nitrate and urea (in the rate of 60 kg N/Fed and this rate was 50% of the recommended dose), on the growth, yield and nutrient content of cowpea plants. All pots received P and K as recommended. The addition of various rates of water hyacinth and banana wastes composts (H.B.C.) under study significantly increased all plant growth parameters under the study, i.e., plant height, plant fresh weight and dry weight of both shoots and roots, the number of root nodules as well as the nutrient content of the different plant organs compared with the control and the chemical fertilizer application of the recommended dose (100%). There was a marked increase in pod characters, yield and its components, i.e., number of pods per plant, length, diameter and weight of pods per plant. The highest values of growth characters of yield and its components and the contents of nutrient elements were noticed when applying compost at the higher rates (20 ton/fed.) followed by 15 and 10 ton/fed., in a descending order as compared with the control. The best combination of nitrogen forms and the compost is considered to be one of the primary factors for high yield production and quality as well as yield components of cowpea. The highest significant increase in growth characters, yield and yield components, as well as the total carbohydrates and crude protein content of the seeds, were obtained via the application of compost in combination with ammonium sulphate at the rate of 20 ton/fed

Ferric Carboxymaltose as Treatment in Women with Iron-Deficiency Anemia

Objective. To evaluate safety and efficacy of intravenous ferric carboxymaltose (FCM) versus standard medical care (SMC) for iron-deficiency anemia (IDA) in postpartum women and women with heavy menstrual bleeding. Study Design. This open-label, multicenter study randomized women with IDA (hemoglobin ≤ 11.0 g/dL) to single doses of FCM (15 mg/kg [maximum 1000 mg]) or SMC (this treatment was determined by the investigator and there may have been no treatment). Safety data (primary outcome) were collected for 30 days. Results. Of 2045 subjects enrolled (FCM: = 1023; SMC: = 1022), 996 received FCM and 1022 received SMC. At least 1 serious adverse event (AE) was reported by 0.6% and 2.2% of subjects in the FCM and SMC groups, respectively; none were considered treatment related. The difference in serious AEs was primarily due to higher rates of uterine leiomyoma, uterine hemorrhage, and menorrhagia in SMC subjects with heavy menstrual bleeding. Common AEs were generally predictable, with higher rates of infusion site reactions in FCM subjects and gastrointestinal AEs in SMC subjects. Mean hemoglobin increases were greater in the FCM group than the SMC group. Conclusion. FCM was well tolerated and effectively increased mean hemoglobin levels in postpartum women or women with heavy menstrual bleeding and IDA.
