New perspective in the design of quality management systems
This article aims to analyze the different trends and models of the current quality management systems, identifying areas of opportunity in these to establish proposals for care that give rise to a new management system, flexible, efficient and effective Supported by a system of sociotechnical work. The competitive climate in today's business has multiplied significantly in the face of the dynamics of change and the presence of ever shorter business cycles. It is a fact that in the last decades the market has been acquiring an increasing dynamism. Today, companies are developing in a more competitive national and international economy, with increasing demands for productivity, where market laws force them to deepen and change strategies and policies, to plan, create and innovate, to have a high degree of resilience and Sensitivity to anticipate future needs and to be able to survive and develop in a complex and increasingly competitive environment. In these times the markets are increasingly informed, so their expectations are increasingly demanding, for this reason is that quality becomes a differentiating element and at the same time the key factor of a company's lasting success
Características y sentido de las prácticas de gestión humana en pequeñas empresas
With the purpose of understanding the human resource practices in the small productive units of the industrial, commercial, and services sectors, a research was conducted in 47 small businesses applying a qualitative approach using deep interviews and focus groups. Besides accepting that many principles of human resources proper of big businesses do not apply in the small ones, another three theoretical assumptions were made: The recognition of the rationality of the small entrepreneur, the value of the person as a source of competitive advantage, and the importance of human resources for organizational success. The fi ndings show interesting results to entrepreneurs, unions, academics, and those who are responsible for the formulation of business politics in the region.
The document presents the economic impacts from the fulfillment of Colombia’s commitment of the Paris Agreement on climate change. The traditional analysis is done with marginal curves of abatement costs. However, this technique has a set of limitations, which can be solved with a computable general equilibrium (CGE) model. Using the CGE for Colombia (MEG4C), the results show that growth rate of GDP would increase by 0.15% annually, for the period 2020-2040. On the other hand, the structural unemployment rate is reduced by the implementation of mitigation measures in the medium and long term. Due to the economic structure and the emissions matrix, the implementation of measures should be associated with energy efficiency in the transport, industrial and residential sectors, which will generate positive impacts on economic growth. © 2017, Universidad de los Andes, Facultad de Economia. High resolution spectroscopy of the high velocity hot post-AGB star LS III +52 24 (IRAS 22023+5249)
The first high-resolution (R~50,000) optical spectrum of the B-type star, LS
III +52 24, identified as the optical counterpart of the hot post-AGB candidate
IRAS 22023+5249 (I22023) is presented. We report the detailed identifications
of the observed absorption and emission features in the full wavelength range
(4290-9015 A) as well as the atmospheric parameters and photospheric abundances
(under the Local Thermodinamic Equilibrium approximation) for the first time.
The nebular parameters (Te, Ne) are also derived. We estimate Teff=24,000 K,
log g=3.0, xi=7 kms-1 and the derived abundances indicate a slightly
metal-deficient evolved star with C/O<1. The observed P-Cygni profiles of
hydrogen and helium clearly indicate on-going post-AGB mass loss. The presence
of [N II] and [S II] lines and the non-detection of [O III] indicate that
photoionisation has just started. The observed spectral features, large
heliocentric radial velocity, atmospheric parameters, and chemical composition
indicate that I22023 is an evolved post-AGB star belonging to the old disk
population. The derived nebular parameters (Te=7000 K, Ne=1.2x104 cm-3) also
suggest that I22023 may be evolving into a compact, young low-excitation
Planetary Nebula. Our optical spectroscopic analysis together with the recent
Spitzer detection of double-dust chemistry (the simultaneous presence of
carbonaceous molecules and amorphous silicates) in I22023 and other B-type
post-AGB candidates may point to a binary system with a dusty disk as the
stellar origin common to the hot post-AGB stars with O-rich central stars.Comment: Accepted for publication in MNRAS (22 pages, 4 figures, and 8

Endocrine Disruptors in Water Sources: Human Health Risks and EDs Removal from Water Through Nanofiltration
Identification of latexin by a proteomic analysis in rat normal articular cartilage

Abstract

Background

Osteoarthritis (OA) is characterized by degeneration of articular cartilage. Animal models of OA induced are a widely used tool in the study of the pathogenesis of disease. Several proteomic techniques for selective extraction of proteins have provided protein profiles of chondrocytes and secretory patterns in normal and osteoarthritic cartilage, including the discovery of new and promising biomarkers. In this proteomic analysis to study several proteins from rat normal articular cartilage, two-dimensional electrophoresis and mass spectrometry (MS) were used. Interestingly, latexin (LXN) was found. Using an immunohistochemical technique, it was possible to determine its localization within the chondrocytes from normal and osteoarthritic articular cartilage.

Results

In this study, 147 proteins were visualized, and 47 proteins were identified by MS. A significant proportion of proteins are involved in metabolic processes and energy (32%), as well as participating in different biological functions including structural organization (19%), signal transduction and molecular signaling (11%), redox homeostasis (9%), transcription and protein synthesis (6%), and transport (6%). The identified proteins were assigned to one or more subcellular compartments.

Among the identified proteins, we found some proteins already recognized in other studies such as OA-associated proteins. Interestingly, we identified LXN, an inhibitor of mammalian carboxypeptidases, which had not been described in articular cartilage. Immunolabeling assays for LXN showed a granular distribution pattern in the cytoplasm of most chondrocytes of the middle, deep and calcified zones of normal articular cartilage as well as in subchondral bone. In osteoarthritic cartilage, LXN was observed in superficial and deep zones.

Conclusions

This study provides the first proteomic analysis of normal articular cartilage of rat. We identified LXN, whose location was demonstrated by immunolabeling in the chondrocytes from the middle, deep and calcified zones of normal articular cartilage, and superficial and deep zones of osteoarthritic cartilage.</p
Exact propagators for atom-laser interactions
A class of exact propagators describing the interaction of an -level atom
with a set of on-resonance -lasers is obtained by means of the Laplace
transform method. State-selective mirrors are described in the limit of strong
lasers. The ladder, V and configurations for a three-level atom are
discussed. For the two level case, the transient effects arising as result of
the interaction between both a semi-infinite beam and a wavepacket with the
on-resonance laser are examined.Comment: 13 pages, 6 figure
