Otimização do processo de monitorização de elétrodos seletivos de ião

During the Ion-selective electrode research process, there are a lot of manual calibrations needed in order to achieve better and more effective results. The main goal of most of the researchers in these areas is about the material behaviours and reactions, but there is no way to test them without building the electrode and testing against various possibilities and mediums. Due to this, the research process usually cannot be a continuous process, since there are some interruptions for the manual process to validate all the previous developments. The human based calibration process is fundamental for many conclusions, but, most of the calibrations logic can be implemented in a machine that automates the process, collects the data, and generates the necessary output. The main goal of this MSc thesis is to optimize the calibration process building a calibration box that is fully configurable, and can be replicated, replacing the researcher manual steps during the membrane testing. Herein, it is possible to find the selected hardware and software architecture used, and also the business logic implemented to achieve the automation of these process. The architecture and implementation were designed to be able to work with a digital potentiometer (Crison GLP 21 pH Potentiometer) and a digital precise fluid pump (Legato 100). The solution contains four main components: • External Devices (Digital pH Meter, Digital Peristaltic Pump); • Server side web services and web application; • Cloud Based Deployment (Serverless, Storage, Database); • Hardware automation box; The implementation of this thesis uses the following technologies: • Code: Java, Spring Boot, Spring Data; • Data: JSON, Excel XML OpenFormat, PostgresSQL; • Hardware: RaspberryPi, Relay Boards, LCD Display, Button, LED; • I/O: Ethernet, USB to RS232, RCA, BNC; • Cloud: Heroku Serverless; Heroku PostgresSQL; Amazon S3 Storage; All the membranes used were made by BioMark researchers.Durante o processo de pesquisa de eletrodos seletivos de íons, há muitas calibrações manuais necessárias para obter resultados melhores e mais eficazes. O objetivo principal da maioria dos investigadores nestas áreas ´e relativa aos comportamentos e reações dos materiais, mas não existe uma maneira de testá-los sem construir o elétrodo e testar contra várias possibilidades e meios. Por este motivo, o processo de pesquisa geralmente não pode ser um processo contínuo, uma vez que existem algumas interrupções no mesmo para manualmente validar todos os desenvolvimentos anteriores. O processo de calibração baseado em trabalho manual ´e fundamental para uma grande parte das conclusões, mas a maior parte da lógica de calibração pode ser implementada e executada por uma máquina que automatiza o processo, recolhe os dados e gera a saída necessária para posterior analise do investigador. O objetivo principal desta tese de mestrado ´e otimizar o processo de calibração construindo uma caixa de calibração totalmente configurável e que pode ser replicada, substituindo as etapas manuais do investigador durante o teste das membranas. Neste relatório, é possível encontrar a arquitetura de hardware e software selecionada e utilizada bem como a lógica implementada para alcançar a automação desses processos. A arquitetura e a implementação foram projetadas para poder trabalhar com um potenciómetro digital (Potenciómetro de pH Crison GLP 21) e uma bomba de fluido (Legato 100). Mortes violentas não esclarecidas e impunidade no Rio de Janeiro

Segundo os dados oficiais do Sistema de Informação sobre Mortalidade (SIM/MS), o número de homicídios no Estado do Rio de Janeiro diminuiu 28,7%, entre 2006 e 2009. Contudo, há fortes indícios de que esse resultado tenha se dado por consequência de erro na classificação dos óbitos. Analisando o padrão de mortalidade violenta, o número de incidentes fatais violentos com causa não esclarecida aumentou inexplicavelmente a partir de 2007, no Rio de Janeiro, destoando completamente do padrão nacional. Com base nos microdados das características da vítima, desenvolvemos um modelo multinomial logit para reclassificar os óbitos com causa indeterminada, como homicídios, suicídios ou acidentes. Nossas estimativas indicaram que a diminuição do número de homicídios no Rio de Janeiro, no período mencionado, foi de apenas 3,6%, mas que o número de "homicídios ocultos" aumentou acentuadamente nesse período, passando a corresponder em 2009 a 62,5% dos casos registrados.According to official data from the Mortality Information System (SIM / MS), the number of homicides in the State of Rio de Janeiro decreased 28.7% between 2006 and 2009. However, there is evidence that this variation is due to error on data classification. The number of fatal violent incidents of unknown cause in Rio de Janeiro has inexplicably increased since 2007, which is in the opposite direction of the national standard trend. Based on microdata of the victims' characteristics, we developed a multinomial logit model to reclassify deaths with undetermined cause, as homicides, suicides or fatal accidents. Our estimates indicated that the number of homicides in Rio de Janeiro, in this period, decreased only 3.6%, but the number of "hidden homicides" sharply increased representing 62.5% of the homicides registered in 2009

A Systematic Review

Background: Exercise leads to a robust inflammatory response mainly characterized by the mobilization of leukocytes and an increase in circulating inflammatory mediators produced by immune cells and directly from the active muscle tissue. Both positive and negative effects on immune function and susceptibility to minor illness have been observed following different training protocols. While engaging in moderate activity may enhance immune function above sedentary levels, excessive amounts of prolonged, high-intensity exercise may impair immune function. Thus, the aim of the present review was to clarify the inflammatory effects in response to different exercise intensities. Methods: Search was performed on PubMed and was completed on July 31st, 2017. The studies were eligible if they met the predefined inclusion criteria: a) observational or interventional studies, b) conducted in healthy adults (18-65 years), c) written in Portuguese, English or Spanish, d) including moderate and/or intense exercise. Eighteen articles were included. The specific components that were examined included circulating blood levels of cytokines, leukocytes, creatine kinase (CK) and C-reactive protein (CRP). The methodological quality of the included studies was assessed. Results: Most of the intervention studies showed changes in the assessed biomarkers, although these changes were not consistent. White blood cells (WBC) had an increase immediately after intensive exercise (> 64% VO2max), without alteration after moderate exercise (46-64% VO2max). The results suggested an elevation of the pro-inflammatory cytokines, namely IL-6, followed by an elevation of IL-10 that were more evident after intense exercise bouts. CRP increased both after intense and moderate exercise, with peak increases up to 28 h. CK increased only after intensive and long exercising. Conclusion: In summary, intense long exercise can lead, in general, to higher levels of inflammatory mediators, and thus might increase the risk of injury and chronic inflammation. Pretende-se elaborar uma análise sonora das quatro gravações de bumba-meu-boi do Maranhão elaboradas pela Missão de Pesquisas Folclóricas em 1938. Há uma discussão sobre as questões de “documentação” sonora e políticas culturais, focando principalmente na patrimonialização cultural. Conclusões apontam para a necessidade de maiores contribuições para os estudos culturais sobre o Maranhão em uma perspectiva etnomusicológica

Uma edição diplomática do Hymno (1826) de Raimundo José Marinho

Resumo: este trabalho pretende apresentar uma edição crítica do tipo diplomática do ‘Hymno’ de Raimundo José Marinho, interpretado pela primeira vez em 1826. Trata-se da obra musical mais antiga já encontrada no Maranhão até o presente momento. É apresentada uma breve retrospectiva sobre a história musical do Maranhão Colonial até o início do Império, sucedida por uma contextualização da fonte dessa obra. A próxima seção aborda discussões sobre o processo editorial crítico centrado em Grier (1996) e Figueiredo (2014), sendo seguida por uma análise formal da peça e o relato de algumas decisões editoriais tomadas. Palavras-chave:Musicologia Histórica. Pesquisa Artística: um breve panorama

 Artigo sobre a pesquisa artística como método de investigação no meio acadêmico. Parte-se de um panorama internacional com pesquisadores destacados no tema, sucedido de um breve retrospecto histórico sobre a natureza do método científico na academia. Apresenta-se em seguida o conceito de pesquisa artística e as dualidades pesquisa sobre artes e pesquisa através das artes, bem como conceitos associados ao tema.
