Moments of Gamma type and the Brownian supremum process area

We study positive random variables whose moments can be expressed by products and quotients of Gamma functions; this includes many standard distributions. General results are given on existence, series expansion and asymptotics of density functions. It is shown that the integral of the supremum process of Brownian motion has moments of this type, as well as a related random variable occuring in the study of hashing with linear displacement, and the general results are applied to these variables.Comment: 51 page

Objective The aim of this study was to assess the sacropelvic anthropometry in the Portuguese population, through the study of pelvic computed tomography (CT) scans. Methods Pelvic CT scans of 40 individuals were analyzed, and the length and angle measurements were performed according to predefined screw trajectories of S1 anterior (S1A), anterolateral (S1AL) and anteromedial (S1AM), S2 anterolateral (S2AL) and anteromedial (S2AM), S2 alar iliac (S2AI), iliac, and sacroiliac (SI) screws. Comparisons between genders were also performed. Results The S1A screw trajectory mean length was 30.80 mm. The S1AL mean length and lateral angle were 36.48 mm and 33.13°, respectively, and the S1AM s were 46.23 mm and 33.21°. The S2AL mean length was 28.66 mm and lateral angle was 26.52°, and the S2AM length and angle were 29.99 mm and 33.61°, respectively. The S2 alar-iliac screw trajectory mean length, lateral, and caudal angles were 125.84 mm, 36.78°, and 28.66°, respectively. The iliac screw trajectory mean length, lateral, and caudal angles were 136.73 mm, 23,86° and 24.01°, respectively. The sacroiliac screw trajectory length was 75.50 mm. The length of the screws was longer in men than in women, except for the S1A and SI screws, for which no difference was found between genders. Conclusion This study describes sacropelvic anatomical specifications. These defined morphometric details should be taken into consideration during surgical procedures

Keywords: edukasi keluarga, literasi kesehatan, keluarga tanggu

General amino acid control in fission yeast is regulated by a nonconserved transcription factor, with functions analogous to Gcn4/Atf4

Eukaryotes respond to amino acid starvation by enhancing the translation of mRNAs encoding b-ZIP family transcription factors (GCN4 in Saccharomyces cerevisiae and ATF4 in mammals), which launch transcriptional programs to counter this stress. This pathway involves phosphorylation of the eIF2 translation factor by Gcn2-protein kinases and is regulated by upstream ORFs (uORFs) in the GCN4/ATF4 5′ leaders. Here, we present evidence that the transcription factors that mediate this response are not evolutionarily conserved. Although cells of the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe respond transcriptionally to amino acid starvation, they lack clear Gcn4 and Atf4 orthologs. We used ribosome profiling to identify mediators of this response in S. pombe, looking for transcription factors that behave like GCN4. We discovered a transcription factor (Fil1) translationally induced by amino acid starvation in a 5′ leader and Gcn2-dependent manner. Like Gcn4, Fil1 is required for the transcriptional response to amino acid starvation, and Gcn4 and Fil1 regulate similar genes. Despite their similarities in regulation, function, and targets, Fil1 and Gcn4 belong to different transcription factor families (GATA and b-ZIP, respectively). Thus, the same functions are performed by nonorthologous proteins under similar regulation. These results highlight the plasticity of transcriptional networks, which maintain conserved principles with nonconserved regulators
