Os últimos anos de tratamento da doença arterial obstrutiva periférica na artéria femoral superficial observaram uma mudança de paradigma, da cirurgia clássica para a endovascular, o que se traduziu na utilização progressiva de stents metálicos para a manutenção da permeabilidade a longo prazo. Apesar dos avanços tecnológicos, a restenose intra-stent é uma das principais limitações do tratamento endovascular, com um tratamento complexo e não consensual, traduzindo a escassez de resultados obtidos ou a sua manutenção no tempo. ENIGMA MDD: seven years of global neuroimaging studies of major depression through worldwide data sharing

A key objective in the field of translational psychiatry over the past few decades has been to identify the brain correlates of major depressive disorder (MDD). Identifying measurable indicators of brain processes associated with MDD could facilitate the detection of individuals at risk, and the development of novel treatments, the monitoring of treatment effects, and predicting who might benefit most from treatments that target specific brain mechanisms. However, despite intensive neuroimaging research towards this effort, underpowered studies and a lack of reproducible findings have hindered progress. Here, we discuss the work of the ENIGMA Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) Consortium, which was established to address issues of poor replication, unreliable results, and overestimation of effect sizes in previous studies. The ENIGMA MDD Consortium currently includes data from 45 MDD study cohorts from 14 countries across six continents. The primary aim of ENIGMA MDD is to identify structural and functional brain alterations associated with MDD that can be reliably detected and replicated across cohorts worldwide. A secondary goal is to investigate how demographic, genetic, clinical, psychological, and environmental factors affect these associations. In this review, we summarize findings of the ENIGMA MDD disease working group to date and discuss future directions. We also highlight the challenges and benefits of large-scale data sharing for mental health research

Feasibility Assessment of the Use of Recycled Aggregates for Asphalt Mixtures

The use of recycled aggregates, manufactured from several by-products, to replace virgin aggregates in the production of pavement asphalt mixtures needs to be encouraged. Nevertheless, there are some concerns and uncertainties about the actual environmental, economic and mechanical performance resulting from the incorporation of recycled aggregates in asphalt mixtures. Therefore, this paper has the goal of discussing important features to help decision makers to select recycled aggregates as raw materials for asphalt mixtures. Based on the literature review carried out and the own previous experience of the authors, the article’s main findings reveal that incorporating some of the most common recycled aggregates into asphalt mixtures is feasible, even in a life-cycle analysis perspective. Although some specific technical operations are sometimes necessary when using recycled aggregates in asphalt mixtures, some benefits in terms of environmental impacts, energy use and costs are likely to be achieved, as well as in what concerns the mechanical performance of the asphalt mixtures

Violence and Socioeducation: an Ethical Inquiry Based on the Contributions of Restorative Justice

This study analyzes contemporary violence and the social construction of prejudice in relation to youth in conflict with the law. It exposes socio-education deprived of liberty in its punitive and custodial premises that produce a system with a weak capacity to fulfill its service. The Restorative Justice proposal is presented as a possibility to advance the Statute of the Child and Adolescent by instituting democratic socio-educational practices within the service network of public policies for children and youth, establishing co-responsibilities in institutional interventions, from the perspective of a System of Guarantee of Rights for youths deprived of liberty
