    The beta-decay of 22Al

In an experiment performed at the LISE3 facility of GANIL, we studied the decay of 22Al produced by the fragmentation of a 36Ar primary beam. A beta-decay half-life of 91.1 +- 0.5 ms was measured. The beta-delayed one- and two-proton emission as well as beta-alpha and beta-delayed gamma decays were measured and allowed us to establish a partial decay scheme for this nucleus. New levels were determined in the daughter nucleus 22Mg. The comparison with model calculations strongly favours a spin-parity of 4+ for the ground state of 22Al

    Beta-decay properties of 25^{25}Si and 26^{26}P

The ÎČ\beta-decay properties of the neutron-deficient nuclei 25^{25}Si and 26^{26}P have been investigated at the GANIL/LISE3 facility by means of charged-particle and Îł\gamma-ray spectroscopy. The decay schemes obtained and the Gamow-Teller strength distributions are compared to shell-model calculations based on the USD interaction. B(GT) values derived from the absolute measurement of the ÎČ\beta-decay branching ratios give rise to a quenching factor of the Gamow-Teller strength of 0.6. A precise half-life of 43.7 (6) ms was determined for 26^{26}P, the ÎČ\beta- (2)p decay mode of which is described

Beta decay of the N=Z even-even nucleus /sup 72/Kr has been studied at the ISOLDE PSB facility at CERN. /sup 72/Kr has been produced by fragmentation of a niobium target using the 1 GeV proton beam of the PS Booster. Delayed charged particles has been search for, X-ray, gamma and gamma - gamma coincidences have been measured. Our results enrich the decay scheme in 15 unreported levels. Information on the Gamow-Teller strength distribution has been obtained for the region of the Q/sub EC/ window accessible to us. (4 refs)

Interplay between angular momentum transfer and nuclear structure in the production of isomers at intermediate energies

Isomeric ratios and momentum distributions of nuclei produced in the fragmentation of a 60A MeV 92Mo beam on a thin 27Al target have been studied in detail. A strong dependence of the isomeric ratio on the structure of the isomer and on the reaction mechanism has been observed for the first time at intermediate energies. The results are quantitatively reproduced in a framework of kinematical and statistical models of nuclear reactions

    Asymmetric synthesis of (+)-L-733, 060 and (+)-CP-99, 994 based on a new chiral 3-piperidinol synthon (vol 5, pg 1927, 2003)

The 76^{76}Sr (N=Z=38) and the 72^{72}Kr (N=Z=36)ÎČ+\beta^{+} EC decay have been studied at the CERN-ISOLDE PSB facility where their ÎČ−γ\beta-\gamma and delayed particle decay modes have been investigated. The established decay schemes yield new information on the Gamow- Teller (GT) strength spread over the Jπ^{\pi}=1+^{+} states in the daughter nuclei. The delayed proton emission of an N=Z nucleus is observed for the first time in the case of 76^{76}Sr. The experimental GT strength intensities and distributions are discussed in the light of the theoretical estimates for oblate and prolate deformations.
