Education for sustainable development and global citizenship. The challenge of the UN-decade

This article informs about the achievements and conceptional insufficiencies of "education for sustainable development" on the politico-educational and school level in Great Britain. Therefore attention is drawn to neglected connections between an education for sustainable development and the education for developmental policy. It is argued that questions concerning the interconnection between ecology, economy and society on a local, national and global scale should be put into the centre of the UN-decade, together with the promotion of political participation and of empowerment. Effective descent morphisms of regular epimorphisms

Let AA be a regular category with pushouts of regular epimorphisms by regular epimorphism and Reg(A)Reg(A) the category of regular epimorphisms in AA. We prove that every regular epimorphism in Reg(A)Reg(A) is an effective descent morphism if, and only if, Reg(A)Reg(A) is a regular category. Then, moreover, every regular epimorphism in AA is an effective descent morphism. This is the case, for instance, when AA is either exact Goursat, or ideal determined, or is a category of topological Mal'tsev algebras, or is the category of nn-fold regular epimorphisms in any of the three previous cases, for any n≥1n\geq 1

PonenciaMy idea in your head vs Your idea in my head The objective of this discussion is to delve into a cross-cultural communicative context. There is something uniquely human about the evolution of knowledge though communication. While this is seemingly a universal concept, our focus will move from what is universal about communication to what is distinctly unique about the way two languages differ in similar contexts. What happens when there is a discursive clash between the languages? The underlying theories will uncover some of the main ingredients to proper discourse.Universidad de Málaga. Comprehensive factorization and I-central extensions

We show that, for a regular reflection functor I between efficiently regular categories, the reflection of an extension to an I-central extension is reduced to the comprehensive factorization of an explicit internal functor. We then analyse the Mal'tsev context where similar results are obtained under weaker conditions on I. (C) 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.FCT/Centro de Matematica da Universidade de Coimbr
