Electromagnetic transitions between giant resonances within a continuum-RPA approach
A general continuum-RPA approach is developed to describe electromagnetic
transitions between giant resonances. Using a diagrammatic representation for
the three-point Green's function, an expression for the transition amplitude is
derived which allows one to incorporate effects of mixing of single and double
giant resonances as well as to take the entire basis of particle-hole states
into consideration. The radiative widths for E1 transition between the
charge-exchange spin-dipole giant resonance and Gamow-Teller states are
calculated for ^{90}Nb and ^{208}Bi nuclei. The importance of the mixing is
stressed.Comment: 10 pages, 2 figures, uses elsart.st
Interaction of the single-particle and collective degrees of freedom in non-magic nuclei: the role of phonon tadpole terms
A method of a consistent consideration of the phonon contributions to mass
and gap operators in non-magic nuclei is developed in the so-called g^2
approximation, where g is the low-lying phonon creation amplitude. It includes
simultaneous accounting for both the usual non-local terms and the phonon
tadpole ones. The relations which allow the tadpoles to be calculated without
any new parameters are derived. As an application of the results, the role of
the phonon tadpoles in the single-particle strength distribution and in the
single-particle energies and gap values has been considered. Relation to the
problem of the surface nature of pairing is discussed.Comment: 22 pages, 7 figure
Nuclear Magnetic Quadrupole Moments in Single Particle Approximation
A static magnetic quadrupole moment of a nucleus, induced by T- and P-odd
nucleon-nucleon interaction, is investigated in the single-particle
approximation. Models are considered allowing for analytical solution. The
problem is also treated numerically in a Woods-Saxon potential with spin-orbit
interaction. The stability of results is discussed.Comment: LATEX, 9 pages, 1 postscript figure available upon request from

Enhanced T-odd P-odd Electromagnetic Moments in Reflection Asymmetric Nuclei
Collective P- and T- odd moments produced by parity and time invariance
violating forces in reflection asymmetric nuclei are considered. The enhanced
collective Schiff, electric dipole and octupole moments appear due to the
mixing of rotational levels of opposite parity. These moments can exceed
single-particle moments by more than two orders of magnitude. The enhancement
is due to the collective nature of the intrinsic moments and the small energy
separation between members of parity doublets. In turn these nuclear moments
induce enhanced T- and P- odd effects in atoms and molecules. First a simple
estimate is given and then a detailed theoretical treatment of the collective
T-, P- odd electric moments in reflection asymmetric, odd-mass nuclei is
presented and various corrections evaluated. Calculations are performed for
octupole deformed long-lived odd-mass isotopes of Rn, Fr, Ra, Ac and Pa and the
corresponding atoms. Experiments with such atoms may improve substantially the
limits on time reversal violation.Comment: 28 pages, Revte
Structure of isobaric analog states in 91Nb populated by the 90Zr(a,t) reaction
Decay via proton emission of isobaric analog states (IAS's) in
was studied using the reaction at =180 MeV.
This study provides information about the damping mechanism of these states.
Decay to the ground state and low-lying phonon states in was
observed. The experimental data are compared with theoretical predictions
wherein the IAS `single-particle' proton escape widths are calculated in a
continuum RPA approach. The branching ratios for decay to the phonon states are
explained using a simple model.Comment: 3 figures. submitted to Phys. Lett.
Nine-Propagator Master Integrals for Massless Three-Loop Form Factors
We complete the calculation of master integrals for massless three-loop form
factors by computing the previously-unknown three diagrams with nine
propagators in dimensional regularisation. Each of the integrals yields a
six-fold Mellin-Barnes representation which we use to compute the coefficients
of the Laurent expansion in epsilon. Using Riemann zeta functions of up to
weight six, we give fully analytic results for one integral; for a second,
analytic results for all but the finite term; for the third, analytic results
for all but the last two coefficients in the Laurent expansion. The remaining
coefficients are given numerically to sufficiently high accuracy for
phenomenological applications.Comment: 15 pages, 2 figures. Minor modifications and reference added. Matches

Rev1 deficiency induces a metabolic shift in MEFs that can be manipulated by the NAD plus precursor nicotinamide riboside
Replication stress, caused by Rev1 deficiency, is associated with mitochondrial dysfunction, and metabolic stress. However, the overall metabolic alterations and possible interventions to rescue the deficits due to Rev1 loss remain unclear. Here, we report that loss of Rev1 leads to intense changes in metabolites and that this can be manipulated by NAD + supplementation. Autophagy decreases in Rev1-/- mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEFs) and can be restored by supplementing the NAD+ precursor nicotinamide riboside (NR). The abnormal mitochondrial morphology in Rev1-/-MEFs can be partially reversed by NR supplementation, which also protects the mito-chondrial cristae from rotenone-induced degeneration. In nematodes rev-1 deficiency causes sensitivity to oxidative stress but this cannot be rescued by NR supplementation. In conclusion, Rev1 deficiency leads to metabolic dysregulation of especially lipid and nucleotide metabolism, impaired autophagy, and mitochondrial anomalies, and all of these phenotypes can be improved by NR replenishment in MEFs.Genome Instability and Cance
Effects of T- and P-odd weak nucleon interaction in nuclei: renormalizations due to residual strong interaction, matrix elements between compound states and their correlations with P-violating matrix elements
Manifestations of P-,T-odd weak interaction between nucleons in nucleus are
considered. Renormalization of this interaction due to residual strong
interaction is studied. Mean squared matrix elements of P-,T-odd weak
interaction between compound states are calculated. Correlators between
P-,T-odd and P-odd, T-even weak interaction matrix elements between compound
states are considered and estimates for these quantities are obtained.Comment: Submitted to Phys. Rev. C; 21 pages, REVTEX 3, no figure
Induced Parity Nonconserving Interaction and Enhancement of Two-Nucleon Parity Nonconserving Forces
Two-nucleon parity nonconserving (PNC) interaction induced by the
single-particle PNC weak potential and the two-nucleon residual strong
interaction is considered. An approximate analytical formula for this Induced
PNC Interaction (IPNCI) between proton and neutron is derived (), and the
interaction constant is estimated. As a result of coherent contributions from
the nucleons to the PNC potential, IPNCI is an order of magnitude stronger
() than the residual weak two-nucleon interaction and has a
different coordinate and isotopic structure (e.g., the strongest part of IPNCI
does not contribute to the PNC mean field). IPNCI plays an important role in
the formation of PNC effects, e.g., in neutron-nucleus reactions. In that case,
it is a technical way to take into account the contribution of the distant
(small) components of a compound state which dominates the result. The absence
of such enhancement () in the case of T- and P-odd interaction
completes the picture.Comment: Phys. Rev. C, to appear; 17 pages, revtex 3, no figure
Beta-decay in odd-A and even-even proton-rich Kr isotopes
Beta-decay properties of proton-rich odd-A and even-even Krypton isotopes are
studied in the framework of a deformed selfconsistent Hartree-Fock calculation
with density-dependent Skyrme forces, including pairing correlations between
like nucleons in BCS approximation. Residual spin-isospin interactions are
consistently included in the particle-hole and particle-particle channels and
treated in Quasiparticle Random Phase Approximation. The similarities and
differences in the treatment of even-even and odd-A nuclei are stressed.
Comparison to available experimental information is done for Gamow-Teller
strength distributions, summed strengths, and half-lives. The dependence of
these observables on deformation is particularly emphasized in a search for
signatures of the shape of the parent nucleus.Comment: 29 pages, 16 figure
