Hydrometeorological conditions in Research Station in Szymbark were analysed, and then the influence of these conditions on the water level. The investigations were carried out during the selected high stage in the period 1997–2008. Relations between the precipitation totals, discharge and changes of the amount of material carried away were analysed. Percentage of the suspended matter in complete denudation from the catchment area of the Bystrzanka was also assayed. The results showed that more than 95% of suspended material can be carry out in a single flood. Parameters regarding to the transport of suspended matter in the period 1997–2008 were referenced to the same parameters estimated in the period 1971–1979, and the load of suspended material in the review period was higher by 26%

State-of-the-art of transcatheter treatment of aortic valve stenosis and the overview of the InFlow project aiming at developing the first Polish TAVI system

Initial experience of transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) or replacement (TAVR) has ap-peared as a promising minimally invasive technology for patients disqualified from surgical treatment (SAVR). Safety and efficacy of TAVI has been analyzed and assessed through numerous registries and trials. Furthermore, results obtained from comparative TAVI vs. SAVR trials proved that both treat¬ments can be considered equal in terms of post-procedural mortality and morbidity in high-risk, as well as lower risk patients. However, there are still some issues that have to be addressed, such as higher chance of paravalvular leakage, vascular injuries, conduction disturbances, malpositioning and the yet unmet problem of insufficient biological valves durability. Recent technological developments along with the learning curve of operators prove a great potential for improvement of TAVI and a chance of surpassing SAVR in various groups of patients in the near future. In pursuit of finding new solutions, the CardValve Consortium consisting of leading scientific and research institutions in Poland has been created. Under the name of InFlow and financial support from the National Center for Research and Development, they have started a project with the aim to design, create and implement into clinical practice the first, Polish, low-profile TAVI valve system, utilizing not only biological but also artificial, polymeric-based prosthesis. This review focuses on current developments in TAVI technologies including the InFlow project

Background: The evidence of performing minimally invasive coronary artery surgery early after drug eluting stent (DES) implantation due to acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is limited. Aim: The aim of the study is to determine the safety and feasibility of this approach. Methods: This registry includes 115  (78% male) patients from 2013‒2018, who underwent non-LAD percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) due to ACS with contemporary DES implantation (39% diagnosed with myocardial infarction at baseline), followed by endoscopic atraumatic coronary artery bypass (EACAB) surgery within 180 days, after temporary P2Y12 inhibitor discontinuation. Primary composite endpoint of MACCE (Major Adverse Cardiac and Cerebrovascular Events), defined as death, myocardial infarction (MI), cerebrovascular incident and repeat revascularization was evaluated in long- term follow-up. The follow-up was collected via telephone survey and with National Registry for Cardiac Surgery Procedures. Results: Median (interquartile range [IQR]) time interval separating both procedures was 100.0 (62.0‒136.0) days. Median (IQR) follow-up duration was 1338.5 (753.0‒2093.0) days and was completed from all patients with regard to mortality. Eight patients (7%) died; 2 (1.7%) had a stroke; 6 (5.2%) suffered from MI and 12 (10.4%) required repeat revascularization. Overall, the incidence of MACCE was 20 (17.4%). Conclusions: EACAB is a safe and feasible method of LAD revascularization in patients who received DES for ACS within 180 days prior to surgery, despite early dual antiplatelet therapy discontinuation. The adverse event rate is low and acceptable

Long-term changes (1990–2015) in the atmospheric deposition and runoff water chemistry of sulphate, inorganic nitrogen and acidity for forested catchments in Europe in relation to changes in emissions and hydrometeorological conditions

The international Long-Term Ecological Research Network (ILTER) encompasses hundreds of long-term research/monitoring sites located in a wide array of ecosystems that can help us understand environmental change across the globe. We evaluated long-term trends (1990–2015) for bulk deposition, throughfall and runoff water chemistry and fluxes, and climatic variables in 25 forested catchments in Europe belonging to the UNECE International Cooperative Programme on Integrated Monitoring of Air Pollution Effects on Ecosystems (ICP IM). Many of the IM sites form part of the monitoring infrastructures of this larger ILTER network. Trends were evaluated for monthly concentrations of non-marine (anthropogenic fraction, denoted as x) sulphate (xSO4) and base cations x(Ca + Mg), hydrogen ion (H+), inorganic N (NO3 and NH4) and ANC (Acid Neutralising Capacity) and their respective fluxes into and out of the catchments and for monthly precipitation, runoff and air temperature. A significant decrease of xSO4 deposition resulted in decreases in concentrations and fluxes of xSO4 in runoff, being significant at 90% and 60% of the sites, respectively. Bulk deposition of NO3 and NH4 decreased significantly at 60–80% (concentrations) and 40–60% (fluxes) of the sites. Concentrations and fluxes of NO3 in runoff decreased at 73% and 63% of the sites, respectively, and NO3 concentrations decreased significantly at 50% of the sites. Thus, the LTER/ICP IM network confirms the positive effects of the emission reductions in Europe. Air temperature increased significantly at 61% of the sites, while trends for precipitation and runoff were rarely significant. The site-specific variation of xSO4 concentrations in runoff was most strongly explained by deposition. Climatic variables and deposition explained the variation of inorganic N concentrations in runoff at single sites poorly, and as yet there are no clear signs of a consistent deposition-driven or climate-driven increase in inorganic N exports in the catchments.Long-term changes (1990–2015) in the atmospheric deposition and runoff water chemistry of sulphate, inorganic nitrogen and acidity for forested catchments in Europe in relation to changes in emissions and hydrometeorological conditionsacceptedVersio

The article presents the results of research on morphological changes of the Carpathian river Ropa caused by high flood events. The analysis was based on the surveys of river cross-profiles located above ( 1 profile ) and below ( 3 profiles ) the Klimkówka Reservoir that were performed in 2009 and 2010. Data on the discharges and water stages of the Ropa River at the gauging station at Szymbark ( near Gorlice ) were also used in the study. Attention was paid to the possible role of the Klimkówka Reservoir in the transformation of the morphology of the Ropa River channel

New phytosociological studies on permanent study plot (40 ´ 40 m) divided into 16 subplots in the managed forest were conducted in the upper part of basin of Bys-trzanka (Beskid Niski Mts, SE Poland). The aim of the research was to determine the direction of changes in the Rubus hirtus-Abies alba community in the vicinity of the forest where forest management treatments are applied. It was recorded that the total number of species increased from 52 in 2000 to 80 in 2011. The DCA showed sig-nificantchanges in species composition and the cover of species. Among others, the increase of forest edge species (epilobisation) and ruderal species (therophytization) and firstof all the increase of meadow was observed. The structure of the community also changed; the mean cover of shrub species decreased

W pracy przedstawiono wyniki obliczeń wielkości spływu powierzchniowego z wykorzystaniem jednowymiarowych modeli infiltracji Green-Ampta, Diskina-Nazimowa oraz metodą NRCS-CN. W celu weryfikacji poprawności zastosowanych metod obliczeniowych wyniki obliczeń porównano z pomiarami spływu powierzchniowego z dwóch zdarzeń opadowych zarejestrowanych na jednym z poletek doświadczalnych Stacji Naukowo--Badawczej Instytutu Geografii i Przestrzennego Zagospodarowania Polskiej Akademii Nauk w Szymbarku k. Gorlic (Beskid Niski). Wyniki obliczeń wykazały, że model Green-Ampta dał najbardziej zbliżone wyniki obliczeń do danych pomiarowych. Nieco gorsze wyniki obliczeń uzyskano z modelu Diskina-Nazimowa, przy czym model ten dał wyniki porównywalne do danych pomiarowych w przypadku drugiego zdarzenia opadowego charakteryzującego się znaczną intensywnością, a zaniżał wyraźnie wielkość spływu w przypadku pierwszego zdarzenia opadowego. Natomiast wyniki obliczeń otrzymane z modelu NRCS-CN wykazały znaczną rozbieżność w stosunku do wyników pomiarów, co wskazuje, że model ten wymaga kalibracji uwzględniającej warunki klimatyczne naszego kraju
