Interference of an array of independent Bose-Einstein condensates
We have observed high-contrast matter wave interference between 30
Bose-Einstein condensates with uncorrelated phases. Interference patterns were
observed after independent condensates were released from a one-dimensional
optical lattice and allowed to expand and overlap. This initially surprising
phenomenon is explained with a simple theoretical model which generalizes the
analysis of the interference of two independent condensates
Reflections on cuban dissidence
Since the raids of Spring 2003, international press has put dissidents in the forefront of news about Cuba. From the outside, one might believe that the dissidents have a strong gri p on “civil society” and that they represent the democratic future. However, the radical brutality that broke out over these opponents, who the regime describes as “mercenaries at the Empire’s service,” is not the only dimension hindering their movement. We cannot understand the manner in which they have been ignored and engulfed without reconstructing the context of a society immersed within the opaque universe of the “lucha”, the weight of a social imaginary obsessed by “intrigue,” and the effect of official propaganda. The political paradigms in which they are inscribed also share with the Castrist matrix a culture rooted in long-term national history, which exalts the virtues of homogeneity, unanimity and enlightened elitism.Translation Alberto Valencia GutiĂ©rrez, Professor Universidad del Valle in Cali Colombia.Desde la represiĂłn de la primavera del 2003, la prensa internacional convirtiĂł a los disidentes en el tema central de la actualidad cubana. Vehicle Communication using Secrecy Capacity
We address secure vehicle communication using secrecy capacity. In
particular, we research the relationship between secrecy capacity and various
types of parameters that determine secrecy capacity in the vehicular wireless
network. For example, we examine the relationship between vehicle speed and
secrecy capacity, the relationship between the response time and secrecy
capacity of an autonomous vehicle, and the relationship between transmission
power and secrecy capacity. In particular, the autonomous vehicle has set the
system modeling on the assumption that the speed of the vehicle is related to
the safety distance. We propose new vehicle communication to maintain a certain
level of secrecy capacity according to various parameters. As a result, we can
expect safer communication security of autonomous vehicles in 5G
communications.Comment: 17 Pages, 12 Figure
P-matrix and J-matrix approaches. Coulomb asymptotics in the harmonic oscillator representation of scattering theory
The relation between the R- and P-matrix approaches and the harmonic
oscillator representation of the quantum scattering theory (J-matrix method) is
discussed. We construct a discrete analogue of the P-matrix that is shown to be
equivalent to the usual P-matrix in the quasiclassical limit. A definition of
the natural channel radius is introduced. As a result, it is shown to be
possible to use well-developed technique of R- and P-matrix theory for
calculation of resonant states characteristics, scattering phase shifts, etc.,
in the approaches based on harmonic oscillator expansions, e.g., in nuclear
shell-model calculations. P-matrix is used also for formulation of the method
of treating Coulomb asymptotics in the scattering theory in oscillator
representation.Comment: Revtex, 57 pages including 15 figures; to be published in Annals of

Secrecy capacity of a class of orthogonal relay eavesdropper channels
The secrecy capacity of relay channels with orthogonal components is studied
in the presence of an additional passive eavesdropper node. The relay and
destination receive signals from the source on two orthogonal channels such
that the destination also receives transmissions from the relay on its channel.
The eavesdropper can overhear either one or both of the orthogonal channels.
Inner and outer bounds on the secrecy capacity are developed for both the
discrete memoryless and the Gaussian channel models. For the discrete
memoryless case, the secrecy capacity is shown to be achieved by a partial
decode-and-forward (PDF) scheme when the eavesdropper can overhear only one of
the two orthogonal channels. Two new outer bounds are presented for the
Gaussian model using recent capacity results for a Gaussian multi-antenna
point-to-point channel with a multi-antenna eavesdropper. The outer bounds are
shown to be tight for two sub-classes of channels. The first sub-class is one
in which the source and relay are clustered and the and the eavesdropper
receives signals only on the channel from the source and the relay to the
destination, for which the PDF strategy is optimal. The second is a sub-class
in which the source does not transmit to the relay, for which a
noise-forwarding strategy is optimal.Comment: Submitted to Eurasip Journal on Wireless Communications and
