Online visualization of bibliography Using Visualization Techniques
Visualization is a concept where we can represent some raw data in the form of graphs, images, charts, etc. which will be very helpful for the end-user to correlate and be able to understand the relationships between the data elements in a single screen. Representing the bibliographic information of the computer science journals and proceedings using Visualization technique would help user choose a particular author and navigate through the hierarchy and find out what papers the author has published, the keywords of the papers, what papers cite them, the co-authors along with the main author, and how many papers are published by the author selected by the user and so on in a single page. These information is right now present in a scattered manner and the user has to search on websites like Google Scholar [1], Cite Seer [2] to get these bibliographic records. By the use of visualization techniques, all the information can be accessed on a single page by having a graph like points on the page, where the user can search for a particular author and the author and its co-authors are represented in the form of points. The goal of this project is to enhance current bibliography web services with an intuitive interactive visualization interface and to improve user understanding and conceptualization. In this project, we develop a simple web-interface which will take a search query from the user and find the related information like author\u27s name, the co-authors, number of papers published by him, related keywords, citations referred etc. The project uses the bibliographic records which are available as XML files from the Citeseer database[2], extracts the data into the database and then queries the database for the results using a web service. The data which is extracted is then presented visually to allow the user to conceptualize the results in a better way and help him/her find the articles of interest with utmost ease. In addition the user can interactively navigate the visual results to get more information about any of the article or the author displayed. So here we present both paper centric view and author centric view to the user by representing data in terms of graphs. The nodes in the graphs obtained for paper centric views and author centric views are color coded based on the paper’s weight parameter ( popularity of the paper ). For the paper centric view, the papers which are referring other papers are represented by providing a directed arrow from referred paper to referenced paper. Overall the idea here was to represent this related data in the form of a tree, so that the user can correlate all the data and get the relationships between them
Density Estimation in Infinite Dimensional Exponential Families
In this paper, we consider an infinite dimensional exponential family,
of probability densities, which are parametrized by functions in
a reproducing kernel Hilbert space, and show it to be quite rich in the
sense that a broad class of densities on can be approximated
arbitrarily well in Kullback-Leibler (KL) divergence by elements in
. The main goal of the paper is to estimate an unknown density,
through an element in . Standard techniques like maximum
likelihood estimation (MLE) or pseudo MLE (based on the method of sieves),
which are based on minimizing the KL divergence between and
, do not yield practically useful estimators because of their
inability to efficiently handle the log-partition function. Instead, we propose
an estimator, based on minimizing the \emph{Fisher divergence},

Flora of Sacred Groves at Sriharikota Island, Andhra Pradesh, India
Sriharikota is botanically interesting place in Andhra Pradesh by virtue of being an island in Nellore District harbouring a rich vegetation and a popular place also because of establishment of Rocket Launching Station. The anecdote behind the same Sriharikota is that there are half a million of Siva Lingams present in the island. The legend derived its strength from the words ‘arc’ (half) and cotti (crore), ‘Sri’ being a qualifying term. However, the fact is that there are a good number of dilapidated temples around which note- worthy vegetation, worth a critical study. It is said that a number of idols also were found during excavation operations while construction programme of SHAR establishment was carried out. One such idol is presently installed at newly constructed temple in the area. Hence a study of flora of sacred groves is undertaken. A good number of medicinal plants are recorded around the sacred groves. However 18 plants only of high importance are reported here, such as Albizzia amara, Lannea coromandelica, Loesneriella obtusifolia, Strychnos nux-vomica and Strychnos potatorum etc
Antimicrobial Screening of Some Selected Tribal Medicinal Plants from Sriharikota Island, Andhra Pradesh, India
Sriharikota Island is important because of its rich vegetational diversity and for the fact that it is the site of a Rocket Launching Station built by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). An aboriginal tribe called ‘Yanadi’ dwells in a few tribal pockets on Sriharikota Island. However, a few aged tribal men are still able to furnish information regarding their traditional practices of medicines and recipes. There is an urgent need to conserve their herbal wealth and preserve their traditional knowledge for the benefit of modern society. It is with this background, along with the need to give a primary scientific basis to the tribal medicinal lore of Sriharikota Island, that a preliminary screening of antimicrobial (antibacterial and antifungal) activity screening was conducted for 81 tribal medicinal samples based on their medicinal importance and endemism/rare occurrence on the island. Of these 81 samples, 28 have shown positive response for antimicrobial tests. Among these 8 species, namely Alangium salvifolium, Aristolochia indica, Ctrullus colocynthis, Datura stramonium, Ficus religiosa, Holoptelia integrifolia, Lawsonia innermis and Ventilago madaraspatana have shown congizable immunity zone of inhibition (i.e. above 20 mm). All the data is recorded in this paper. The results are mostly in conformity of the medicinal uses and they are discussed in detail in this article
Ethnomedicinal Recipes for Respiratory and Bronchial Diseases from Tribals of Sriharikota Island, Andhra Pradesh
Sriharikota Island in Andhra Pradesh is an elliptical land mass sandwiched between Bay of Bengal in the East and Pulicat lake in the West. Sullurpet is the nearest railway station, which is 18 Km from Sriharikota Island and it is on Chennai-Kolkata trunk line and 90 Km away from North of Chennai. An aboriginal tribe called Yanadi dwells in Sriharikota. It is similar to Chenchu community elsewhere in Andhra Pradesh. In spite of the community being drifted from their natural way of life due to agro-rural development activities, a few aged tribals are still able to furnish traditional ethnomedicinal data. So far no ethno medico-botanical studies are conducted in this area except for list of 50 plants reported for general ailments/ diseases by Suryanarayana et al. (1989). Therefore a detailed study on ethno medico-botanical uses of the tribals of Sriharikota Island was undertaken for the duration three years (1996-1999). During this work about 280 species are collected having a variety of ethno medico-botanical/pharmaceutical values. However the article presents the 20 plant species only having remedial effect for respiratory and bronchial diseases. The study analyzes the habit and plant part(s) used for ethnomedicinal practices by the tribals of Sriharikota Island
Incentive Stackelberg Mean-payoff Games
We introduce and study incentive equilibria for multi-player meanpayoff
games. Incentive equilibria generalise well-studied solution concepts such as
Nash equilibria and leader equilibria (also known as Stackelberg equilibria).
Recall that a strategy profile is a Nash equilibrium if no player can improve
his payoff by changing his strategy unilaterally. In the setting of incentive
and leader equilibria, there is a distinguished player called the leader who
can assign strategies to all other players, referred to as her followers. A
strategy profile is a leader strategy profile if no player, except for the
leader, can improve his payoff by changing his strategy unilaterally, and a
leader equilibrium is a leader strategy profile with a maximal return for the
leader. In the proposed case of incentive equilibria, the leader can
additionally influence the behaviour of her followers by transferring parts of
her payoff to her followers. The ability to incentivise her followers provides
the leader with more freedom in selecting strategy profiles, and we show that
this can indeed improve the payoff for the leader in such games. The key
fundamental result of the paper is the existence of incentive equilibria in
mean-payoff games. We further show that the decision problem related to
constructing incentive equilibria is NP-complete. On a positive note, we show
that, when the number of players is fixed, the complexity of the problem falls
in the same class as two-player mean-payoff games. We also present an
implementation of the proposed algorithms, and discuss experimental results
that demonstrate the feasibility of the analysis of medium sized games.Comment: 15 pages, references, appendix, 5 figure
Parameter and Controller Synthesis for Markov Chains with Actions and State Labels
This paper introduces a novel approach for synthesizing parameters and controllers for Markov Chains with Actions and State Labels (ASMC). Requirements which are to be met by the controlled system are specified as formulas of asCSL, which is a powerful temporal logic for characterizing both state properties and action sequences of a labeled Markov chain. The paper proposes two separate - but related - algorithms for untimed until type and untimed general
asCSL formulas. In the former case, a set of transition rates and a common rate reduction factor are determined. In the latter case, a controller which is to be composed in parallel with the given
ASMC is synthesized. Both algorithms are based on some rather simple heuristics
A Study of Phytochemical Composition of a Few Tribal Medicinal Plants from Sriharikota
SRIHARIKOTA acquired importance botanically because of rich Island vegetation and due to installation of Rocket Launching Station by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). A few Tribal colonies are domiciled there. Some aged tribal men conversed with herbal medicines and practices. With a fear that this tribal medicinal knowledge of the island may be lost, if urgently not pursued in a recorded manner for the benefit of modern society, a project on Ethnobotany and tribal medicines of Sriharikota Island is taken up three years back in 1996. Regular field tours are conducted covering all the seasons and about 300 medicinal plants are collected along with ample field notes on folklore medicinal uses with the support of local aged tribal men. Out of these, a few plants are selected on the basis of endemism and utility and subjected to phytochemical analysis. Investigation for 11 chemical components is made in 21 samples. All the data is recorded in this paper. The results are mostly in conformity with the medicinal uses and they are discussed
