    Get PDF
Abstract: A series of hitherto unreported mono-and di-keto diphenyl selenides have been efficiently synthesized in high yields by treatment of diphenyl selenide (1) with appropriately substituted acyl chloride using anhydrous aluminum chloride as catalyst and methylene chloride as solvent. The structures of the synthesized compounds have been confirmed by elemental and spectral analysis

The phytochemical investigation of the n-butanol extract of aerial parts of Periploca laevigata resulted in the isolation of four known compounds, kaempferol 3-O-β-arabinopyranoside (1), kaempferol 3-O-β-glucopyranoside (2), quercetin 3-O-arabinopyranoside (3) and quercetin 3-O-rutinoside (4).The structures of the compounds were determined on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis, including 1D and 2D NMR as well as acid hydrolysis and comparison with the related known compounds

© 2017 Somia Lassed et al.Green tea (GT) has been studied for its effects as antioxidant and cancer-preventive agent. Epidemiological studies showed that GT consumption decreases the risk for prostate cancer (PC). To investigate whether erythrocyte oxidative stress (OS) is associated with PC and whether daily consumption of GT improves the oxidative phenotype, we performed a study in a group of Algerian PC patients, preceded by an in vitro study to characterize composition and antioxidant/antiproliferative activities of the GT used. This contained a high content of phenolic and flavonoid compounds, demonstrating in vitro antioxidant activity and significant antiproliferative effect on human prostate cancer PC-3 cell line. Seventy PC patients and 120 age-matched healthy subjects participated in the study, with glutathione (GSH), malondialdehyde (MDA), and catalase activity evaluated before and after GT consumption. The results showed a reduced GSH and catalase activity and a high level of MDA in erythrocytes from PC patients. The consumption of 2-3 cups per day of GT during 6 months significantly increased GSH concentration and catalase activity and decreased MDA concentration. In conclusion, GT significantly decreased OS in Algerian PC patients. Regular consumption of GT for a long period may prevent men from developing PC or at least delay its progression

Antioxidant activity and chemical constituents of Warionia saharae Benth. & Coss. (Compositae) from Algeria.

Phytochemical investigations of chloroform and ethyl acetate extracts from the aerial parts of Warionia saharae Benth. & Coss. from Algeria resulted in the isolation of ten known compounds: β-sitosterol, stigmasterol, scopoletin, cirsimaritin, chrysoeriol, hispidulin, luteolin, esculetin, (2R,3R) taxifolin, quercetin. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis and comparison with the related known compounds. The EtOAc extract which was evaluated for DPPH radical scavenging activity and of lipid peroxide inhibition showed potent antioxidant ability compared to the quercetin and ascorbic acid used as positive control

Dynamique Des Eléments Nutritifs Et Du Phytoplancton Dans Le Barrage Béni Haroun Dans l’Est Algérien

In order to monitor the water quality of the Beni Haroun dam, used for the drinking water production, our research work aims to provide new scientific data on the phytoplankton population of the dam. This contribution is a qualitative and quantitative investigation of this important link in the ecosystem equilibrium. To our knowledge, this study has never been the subject of a previous one, despite many works already done on this dam. Water samples were collected monthly from January to December 2015 at five stations, spread over Beni Haroun dam. The exploitation of a database, relating to fourteen physicochemical and biotic variables, made it possible to determine: the spatiotemporal evolution of each variable, the correlations between variables, the annual variability of the algal biomass, the diversity and phytoplankton dominance

The control parameterization method for nonlinear optimal control: A survey

    Get PDF
The control parameterization method is a popular numerical technique for solving optimal control problems. The main idea of control parameterization is to discretize the control space by approximating the control function by a linear combination of basis functions. Under this approximation scheme, the optimal control problem is reduced to an approximate nonlinear optimization problem with a finite number of decision variables. This approximate problem can then be solved using nonlinear programming techniques. The aim of this paper is to introduce the fundamentals of the control parameterization method and survey its various applications to non-standard optimal control problems. Topics discussed include gradient computation, numerical convergence, variable switching times, and methods for handling state constraints. We conclude the paper with some suggestions for future research

A new oleanolic acid triterpene glucoside, 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-3β,21β,28-trihydroxy-olean-12-en-27-oic acid (1), has been isolated together with twelve known compounds from the chloroform and ethyl acetate extracts of Genista numidica Spach (Fabaceae) aerial parts. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic and spectrometric analyses, mainly 1D-, 2D-NMR and MS data, and comparison with the literature. The antiproliferative activity of isolates was investigated on Jurkat, HeLa, and MCF7 cell lines. The most active triterpene, 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-olean-12-en-3β,27,28,29-tetraol, showed activity in all cell lines. Further studies revealed that this compound induced in HeLa cells a cytostatic response

Three previously unreported triterpenoids 2α,3β,11α-trihydroxyolean-18-ene 1, 3β-acetoxy,2α,11α- dihydroxyolean-18-ene 2 and 2α-acetoxy,3β,11α-dihydroxyolean-18-ene 3 were isolated from the chloroform extract of aerial parts (leaves and flowers) of Salvia phlomoides collected from the Constantine region in the east of Algeria. Structures were determined using NMR spectroscopy and HR-ESI mass spectrometry. Compounds 1, 2 and 3 were tested against the NCI panel of human tumour cell lines at a single dose of 10 µM. Compound 2 was the most active showing a 38 % growth inhibition against the leukemia RPMI-8226 line

International audienceThree undescribed coumarin derivatives, pituranthosin A–C (1-3), along with nineteen known compounds were isolated and identified from the chloroform and ethyl acetate fractions of the hydroalcoholic extract of Deverra battandieri (Apiaceae). The structures of the compounds were established by interpretation of their spectral data using 1D-NMR (1H, 13C, DEPT experiments), 2D-NMR (COSY, NOESY, HSQC and HMBC), HRESIMS, and by comparison with the literature data. © 2020 Phytochemical Society of Europ
