The main objective of surgically assisted rapid maxillary expansion (SARME) is to increase the transverse dimension of the upper dental arch in individuals with maxillary atresia, demonstrating a good prognosis, depending on the surgical technique used and when correctly indicated. The present study aimed to evaluate the cephalometric, skeletal, dental and soft tissue changes in patients submitted to SARME through lateral osteotomy of the maxilla performed horizontally straight and lateral osteotomy of the maxilla performed parallel to the occlusal plane with a step in the zygomatic pillar. For this, Cone-beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) scans of 20 individuals were selected, separated into two groups according to the surgical technique used and analyzed in the preoperative period and 180 days postoperatively, through the Dolphin Imaging program where the cephalometric tracings were generated. The results showed that both osteotomies were effective in correcting the transverse deficiency of the maxilla, with statistically significant sagittal and vertical changes in dental, skeletal and soft tissues in the group in which the osteotomy was performed horizontally straight. Thus, it is concluded that the design of the lateral osteotomy in the SARME did not significantly interfere in the transverse dental and skeletal changes, however it was observed significant sagittal and vertical changes in the dental, skeletal and soft tissues in the lateral osteotomy performed horizontally straight, without step in the region of the zygomatic pillar

This article poses to explore the relationship between the manager´s perception of uncertainty and the Brazilian industry´s operational performance during the period from 2007 to 2009. This timeframe was chosen because it comprised both positive and negative cycles of the global economic panorama, and thus capable of interfering in the manager´s perception of uncertainty and consequent business strategies. Periods of market fluctuations and more dynamic and complex business environments clearly demonstrate that managerial models which are applicable to static or predictable scenarios, become fragile and of dubious applicability; that is, practices adopted and described in business administration bibliographies might not produce expected results.  A key factor for sound performance is the positioning of companies in relation to future planning (Knight, 2002), the latter defined as actions taken by the entrepreneur given a certain degree of uncertainty, inherent to the management activity.  The relationship between uncertainty and corporate performance has been studied, at least, ever since Knight in 1921. The author affirmed that we live in a world of change and in a world of uncertainty. The level of entrepreneur trust from the National Industry Confederation represented the perception of uncertainty, whilst operational performance was formed as of industrial production and employment IBGE indexes. Results demonstrate that both constructs have equivalent movements during the course of the period, presenting a positive correlation. Key-words: Uncertainty. Operational performance. Trust.

ABSTRACT This clinical report describes the implant rehabilitation for the treatment of pathological roots resorption due to inadequate orthodontic movement in prosthetic space reduced by means of load and immediate implants, computer-guided surgery and use of the own tooth crown in a 21-year-old-patient. The atraumatic exodontics of the right and left upper lateral incisors was performed, and then immediate placement of osseointegrated implants using the computer guided surgery technique. The crown teeth itself was used in the immediate aesthetic and functional rehabilitation. Completion of the treatment resulted in a functional and aesthetic successful outcome and a 27 months follow-up presented uneventful. The procedures included in this complex rehabilitation treatment in the esthetic zone were appropriate and essential for the maintenance of the soft and hard tissues contour and thickness ensuring the excellence in rehabilitation

Construction and genetic characterization of an interspecific raspberry hybrids panel aiming resistance to late leaf rust and adaptation to tropical regions

Abstract Raspberries (Rubus spp) are temperate climate fruits with profitable high returns and have the potential for diversification of fruit growing in mid to low-latitude regions. However, there are still no cultivars adapted to climatic conditions and high pressure of diseases that occurs in tropical areas. In this context, our objective was to evaluate the genetic diversity from a 116 raspberry genotypes panel obtained from interspecific crosses in a testcross scheme with four cultivars already introduced in Brazil. The panel was genotyped via genotyping-by-sequencing. 28,373 and 27,281 SNPs were obtained, using the species R. occidentalis and R. idaeus genomes as references, respectively. A third marker dataset was constructed consisting of 41,292 non-coincident markers. Overall, there were no differences in the results when using the different marker sets for the subsequent analyses. The mean heterozygosity was 0.54. The average effective population size was 174, indicating great genetic variability. The other analyses revealed that the half-sibling families were structured in three groups. It is concluded that the studied panel has great potential for breeding and further genetic studies. Moreover, only one of the three marker matrices is sufficient for diversity studies
