    This paper addresses one of the many facets of the problem-solving activity: the challenge inherent in the problem proposition. We have identified the problem proposition as a core element in obtaining efficient problem solving. The Educational Dimension Portfolio, EDP, is our proposal for individualizing the problem proposition. This paper presents EDP's characteristics and implications through testing the results of 491 IESE Business School executives from the European Union (EU) and Latin America (LA). We enumerate five working hypotheses and show their results. We also propose an Educational Delivery Approach (EDA) to help managers become manager-educators. We present the Socratic educational process, the apprenticeship process and the providing alternatives process as a guide to become a manager-educator.problem solving; problem proposition; operations management; manager-educator;

    Four dimensions to induce learning: The challenge profile.

    Knowledge generation is critical for company survival and managers need to face a new role: becoming educators. This requires an understanding of how knowledge is generated and what triggers individual learning. We propose that each individual has a personal predisposition to use a particular learning profile. Our findings show the Educational Dimensions Portfolio (EDP) as a gallery of profiles that match each individual's problem-solving challenge. A manager-educator can use the EDP model for triggering individual learning. We have verified, using statistical methods, that there are four EDP dimensions. They are related to both David Kolb's and Peter Honey's learning styles. We have verified that each individual has a personal predisposition to use a particular profile. We call it the challenge profile. That specific combination provides the individual's gateway not only to his own learning but also to inducing learning in others.manager as educator; innovation; challenge; learning styles; knowledge management;

    Treball final de Màster Universitari en Rehabilitació Psicosocial en Salut Mental Comunitària. Codi: SAX014. Curs acadèmic 2014-2015Objetivo: Comparar la Escala MARS y la Escala de Apoyo Social Percibido, MSPSS, en el paciente con TMG. Método: Estudio observacional de una muestra de 35 pacientes diagnosticados de TMG en el Hospital Psiquiátrico Román Alberca y Hospital Sta. Lucía entre marzo y junio de 2015. Las variables dependientes fueron el estado de recuperación subjetiva en personas con enfermedad mental grave cuantificada con la escala MARS (Maryland Assessment Recovery Scale) y como variable independiente el Apoyo Social Percibido, cuantificado con la escala MSPSS. Para valorar la relación entre variables, se comparó la distribución de porcentajes de la variables sociodemográficas y por otro lado la variable dependiente con la variable independiente. Para determinar si las diferencias eran estadísticamente significativas se utilizó el cociente de correlación de Pearson.Objective: To compare the MARS Scale and the Scale of Perceived Social Support, MSPSS, in patients with TMG. Method: Observational study of a sample of 35 patients diagnosed with TMG in the Roman Pool Psychiatric Hospital and St. Lucia Hospital between March and June 2015. The dependent variables were the state of subjective recovery in people with severe mental illness quantified with MARS (Maryland Recovery Assessment Scale) as the independent variable and the Perceived Social Support, MSPSS quantified the scale. To assess the relationship between variables, the percentage distribution of sociodemographic variables and on the other hand dependent variable with the independent variable it was compared. To determine whether the differences were statistically significant ratio Pearson correlation was used

    The different educational changes undergone before the Spanish Civil War laid the grounds for future iniciatives based on teachign innovations that culminated in the ikastolas (Basque schools) from the 60’s on. At the same time, the improvements in female teacher training not only contributed to the development of this new educational system, but also helped to establish the Basque Language and social changes through schools. The circumstances under which these women carried out work resulted in them becoming a new female model that had to negotiate the identities based on traditional and modern roles, that achieved milestones but also created their own contradictions and that despite its importance hasn’t recieved the interest they deserve.Las diversas experiencias educativas anteriores a la Guerra Civil supusieron el germen de futuras iniciativas basadas en la innovación pedagógica que culminarían con las ikastolas a partir de los años sesenta. Paralelamente se fue produciendo la evolución del perfil de sus docentes, las andereños, que contribuyeron decisivamente no sólo al desarrollo de este modelo educativo, sino a la normalización del euskera y al cambio social a través de la escuela. Las circunstancias en que desempeñaron su labor hacen de ellas un nuevo modelo femenino, que debe negociar las identidades basadas en los patrones tradicionales y las nuevas, que consigue logros pero también cae en sus propias contradicciones y que a pesar de su importancia no ha recibido el interés merecido

    Treball Final de Grau en Finances i Comptabilitat. Codi: FC1049. Curs acadèmic: 2016/2017One of the most complex factors when making an investment is determining the moment in which this action is going to be carried out and upon which values this investment is will becomes practical. To solve this issue, analysts use methods of analysis focused on the comprehension of the market and the formulation of predictions, the most salient ones being Chartism and fundamental analysis. This study is going to make an in depth analysis of Chartism, which is based on the interpretation of graphics and attends to different elements of support so that the analyst can reach decisions in a beneficial way. The question that emerges is whether this method is a good option to rely on in spite of its characterizing subjectivity or if, because of this, it would be better to resort to the fundamental analysis. The aim of the project is to shed light upon these questions

    Is undergraduate programme accreditation influenced by educational public policy quality indicators? An exploratory study of the Chilean Higher Education quality assurance system

    Get PDF
    In Chile, as well as in most of Latin America, public policies for higher education have recently adopted a focus on quality assurance and accreditation systems. Uncertainty, however, still exists in terms of the quality assurance consistency in the current Chilean accreditation system, especially in terms of the relation between public policy quality indicators for higher education and their relation to accreditation outcomes. Therefore, the aim of this study was to make a first explorative attempt to investigate the relationships between these indicators and the results of undergraduate programme accreditation. We hypothesised that the public policy quality indicators of first-year drop-out rate, employment at graduation and ratio of actual to expected time to graduation would be strongly correlated to undergraduate programme accreditation as well as largely explaining its accreditation-year variance. By means of correlation and multiple regression analyses, we found small-sized associations, being first-year drop-out the only significant predictor of programme accreditation, explaining a 9.4% of its variance. These results raise questions regarding the consistency between the aims of public policy for higher education and the current accreditation system. This study should be of value to policy makers, managers and curriculum developers in terms of this initial analysis of the consistency between quality indicators and the accreditation system. Further research is necessary to make a systematic and in-depth assessment of the impact of quality assurance mechanisms to provide better rationale for making important decisions such as when defining the characteristics of the accrediting institutions as well as for establishing effective ways to achieve the proposed public policy objectives

    Many are the generations that have grown, dreamt, suffered, laughed, among many other experiences, with the magic transmitted by radio messages. However, on terms of research, the radio media on the Cuban reality has not had a strong presence. In this last decade, a discrete interest is observed among researchers for the study of this media. The dramatized radio programs are one of the less researched and that´s why the present job the highlights the moment of its production, analyzing it from the theory of mediations from Manuel Martín Serrano. This enables to examine the behavior of this process in a determined historical context.Muchas son las generaciones que han crecido, soñado, sufrido, reído, entre otras experiencias, con la magia que transmiten los mensajes radiales. Wt1 is involved in pancreas development and adult pancreatic homeostasis

    The embryonic mesothelium lining the visceral organs gives rise to mesenchymal cells through a localized epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). This has been extensively studied in some cases, such as the heart, where the epicardium gives rise to epicardial-derived cells that contribute to the cardiac vascular and connective tissues. In other organs, such as the lungs, liver and gut, the developmental fate of the mesothelial-derived mesenchyme and their importance for visceral morphogenesis has also been demonstrated (reviewed in Ariza et al., Dev Dyn, 2016, 245:307-22). Hepatic stellate cells (HSC) are located in the perisinusoidal space of the liver. It has been described that cells derived from the liver mesothelium through an EMT contributes to the HSC population and also to the sinusoidal endothelium during development (IJpenberg et al. Dev Biol, 2007, 312: 157–170; Asahina et al., Hepatology, 2011, 53:983-95). Thus, we checked is a similar developmental origin accounts for pancreatic stellate cells (PSC), a population of pancreatic stromal cells that share many features with HSC. In normal adult pancreas, PSC are quiescent, star-shaped cells with a periacinar distribution. When activated by profibrogenic stimuli such as inflammatory cytokines or oxidative stress, PSC transform into myofibroblast-like cells. Thus, PSC are the major source of extracellular matrix in the adult pancreas, but their embryonic origin remains unknown. The Wilms’ tumor suppressor gene (Wt1) is highly expressed in the embryonic mesothelium. For this reason, we have used two lines of transgenic mice for lineage tracing of mesothelial-derived cells, systemic (Wt1Cre; R26REYFP), tamoxifen-inducible (Wt1ERT2; R26REYFP) and we have also used the inducible driver for conditional deletion of Wt1 (Wt1ERT2; Wt1 flox) in adult mice. Our results confirm that WT1 protein is only expressed in the mesothelium of the developing pancreas, allowing for reliable tracing of the mesothelial-derived cells. During the early stages of pancreas morphogenesis, its mesothelium shows the typical features of EMT. Mesothelial-derived cells, identified by constitutive YFP expression, differentiate into a major part of the PSCs and also contribute to other connective and vascular cell type, including endothelium. Thus, mesothelial-derived cells originated by EMT seem to constitute an important subpopulation of mesodermal cells during pancreas development, contributing to its morphogenesis. On the other hand, systemic deletion of Wt1 in adult mice causes a severe atrophy of the pancreas, although this factor is only expressed in the pancreatic mesothelium. In addition, we have observed that adult PSC express Wt1 in the caerulein-induced pancreatitis model. Our results suggest that: 1) normal pancreatic function is maintained by a Wt1-dependent signaling mechanism acting from the mesothelium and 2) Wt1 plays a role in PSC activation in adult mice. These observations point to a relevant function of the Wt1 gene in pancreatic development and function.Universidad de Málaga. Campus de Excelencia Internacional Andalucía Tech
