Self-dual solutions of Yang-Mills theory on Euclidean AdS space

    Get PDF
We find non-trivial, time-dependent solutions of the (anti) self-dual Yang-Mills equations in the four dimensional Euclidean Anti-de Sitter space. In contrast to the Euclidean flat space, the action depends on the moduli parameters and the charge can take any non-integer value.Comment: 11 pages, 2 figures; version 2: new references added, to appear in PR

An artificial neural network application on nuclear charge radii

The artificial neural networks (ANNs) have emerged with successful applications in nuclear physics as well as in many fields of science in recent years. In this paper, by using (ANNs), we have constructed a formula for the nuclear charge radii. Statistical modeling of nuclear charge radii by using ANNs has been seen as to be successful. Also, the charge radii, binding energies and two-neutron separation energies of Sn isotopes have been calculated by implementing of the new formula in Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov (HFB) calculations. The results of the study shows that the new formula is useful for describing nuclear charge radii.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figure

We give conditions for the linear span of the positive L-weakly compact (resp. M-weakly compact) operators to be a Banach lattice under the regular norm, for that Banach lattice to have an order continuous norm, to be an AL-space or an AM-space.Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK)Turkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Arastirma Kurumu (TUBITAK) [2219]; Research Foundation of Namik Kemal UniversityNamik Kemal University [NKUBAP.00.10.AR.15.04]The first author was supported by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) within the context of 2219-Post Doctoral Fellowship Program and by the Research Foundation of Namik Kemal University (Project No. NKUBAP.00.10.AR.15.04.)

The present study introduces the notions of statistical convergence of order α\alpha and strongly qq- summability of order α\alpha in partial metric spaces. We examinethe inclusion relations linked to these these concepts

Unitarity analysis of general Born-Infeld gravity theories

    Get PDF
We develop techniques of analyzing the unitarity of general Born-Infeld (BI) gravity actions in D-dimensional spacetimes. Determinantal form of the action allows us to find a compact expression quadratic in the metric fluctuations around constant curvature backgrounds. This is highly nontrivial since for the BI actions, in principle, infinitely many terms in the curvature expansion should contribute to the quadratic action in the metric fluctuations around constant curvature backgrounds, which would render the unitarity analysis intractable. Moreover in even dimensions, unitarity of the theory depends only on finite number of terms built from the powers of the curvature tensor. We apply our techniques to some four-dimensional examples.Comment: 26 pages, typos corrected, version to appear in Phys. Rev.

Effect of mentha on performance, haematological and biochemical parameters in laying hens

    Get PDF
Effects of Mentha piperita (peppermint) extract and juice on performance and immune parameters were evaluated in laying hens. A total of 252 Babcock laying hens were allocated to seven treatments with four replications of nine hens. The control hens were fed a basal diet without supplementation. Other hens were given diets supplemented with mentha extract (ME) at 50 (50ME), 100 (100ME), and 200 (200ME) mg/kg of feed or with 50 mentha juice (50MJ), 100 (100MJ) and 200 (200MJ) mg/L that was provided in the drinking water. No significant differences were detected among treatments in bodyweight, feed intake, egg mass, egg production, eggshell breaking strength, Haugh unit, and haematological and serological parameters. The ratio of gram feed to gram egg mass (feed conversion) was significantly better in the birds that received 100ME and 200ME compared with the control hens. The yolk colour index was higher in mid trial analysis (28th day). Thus, although the ME supplementation had a positive effect on feed conversion ratio and egg yolk colour at dosage rates up to 200 mg/kg, further research is needed to establish the efficacy of this herbal product and to determine the most appropriate amount to include in diets for laying hens

Calvarial cavernous lymphangioma is an extremely rare disease entity with only a few reports. Lymphangiomas are frequently encountered neck and long bone but it may also seen in many part of the body and many tips of the lymphangioma have been identified. Several treatment options have been defined but local recurrence is still a big problem. In the pediatric population, postoperative skull defects may frequently require cranioplasty. Allografts or autologous bone grafts may be used for cranioplasty. A four-month-old male patient was hospitalized due to a painless head mass, which was revealed as a soft tissue lesion located in calvarial diploe or extracranial lesion with outer calcified shell on the cranial computed tomography. The patient underwent surgical resection, pathologically confirmed as cavernous lymphangioma. We report this case with imaging findings and review of literatures

HYDROGEN PEROXIDE LEVELS CORRELATE WITH SUPEROXIDE DISMUTASE IN IRAQI WOMEN WITH PREGNANCY-INDUCED HYPERTENSION

Objective: Pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH) is a major pregnancy complication that leads to maternal mortality. Here, we have scrutinized the correlation between serum levels of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) in PIH.Methods: Serum samples were collected from 80 Iraqi women (40 women with PIH as patients group, 20 normotensive pregnant women as a positive control, and 20 normotensive non-pregnant women as a negative control) all groups were diagnosed clinically. Results: Serum of H2O2 and SOD levels was measured for all studied groups. Results showed that there were no significant variances in age and gestational age distribution between all studied groups. Furthermore, result showed that the serum level of SOD was a highly significant decrease in PIH in compared to control groups while H2O2 was a highly significant increase in PIH in compared with control groups. The obtained results also indicated that there was a negative correlation between SOD and H2O2 PIH women while no correlation in other control groups. Conclusion: Our study showed that there was a correlation between H2O2 levels and SOD in PIH. These imbalance lead to generate oxidative stress that could be responsible for starting and progression of pathological processes related to PIH and may be a critical determinant of diseases. Testing for SOD and H2O2 level can be a monitoring instrument for oxidative stress in early pregnancy, and they could help in the detection and consequently prevent future hypertension in pregnancy

Two-level finite element method with a stabilizing subgrid for the incompressible MHD equations

    Get PDF
We consider the Galerkin finite element method (FEM) for the incompressible magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) equations in two dimension. The domain is discretized into a set of regular triangular elements and the finite-dimensional spaces employed consist of piecewise continuous linear interpolants enriched with the residual-free bubble functions. To find the bubble part of the solution, a two-level FEM with a stabilizing subgrid of a single node is described and its application to the MHD equations is displayed. Numerical approximations employing the proposed algorithm are presented for three benchmark problems including the MHD cavity flow and the MHD flow over a step. The results show that the proper choice of the subgrid node is crucial to get stable and accurate numerical approximations consistent with the physical configuration of the problem at a cheap computational cost. Furthermore, the approximate Solutions obtained show the well-known characteristics of the MHD flow. Copyright (C) 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd
