A 9.9 kb DNA fragment from the right arm of chromosome VII of Saccharomyces cerevisiae has been sequenced and analysed. The sequence contains four open reading frames (ORFs) longer than 100 amino acids. One gene, PFK1, has already been cloned and sequenced and the other one is the probable yeast gene coding for the beta-subunit of the succinyl-CoA synthetase. The two remaining ORFs share homology with the deduced amino acid sequence (and their physical arrangement is similar to that) of the YHR161c and YHR162w ORFs from chromosome VIII

We report the sequence of a 9000 bp fragment from the right arm of Saccharomyces cerevisiae chromosome VII. Analysis of the sequence revealed four complete previously unknown open reading frames, which were named G7587, G7589, G7591 and G7594 following standard rules for provisional nomenclature. Outstanding features of some of these proteins were the homology of the putative protein coded by G7589 with proteins involved in transcription regulation and the transmembrane domains predicted in the putative protein coded by G7591

OBJECTIVES: Ischemic stroke (IS) or transient ischemic attack (TIA) history is present in 4-17% of patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). This subgroup of patients is at high risk for both ischemic and bleeding events. The aim of this study was to determine the role of platelet aggregability, coagulation and endogenous fibrinolysis in patients with CAD and previous IS or TIA. METHODS: A prospective case-control study that included 140 stable CAD patients divided into two groups: the CASE group (those with a previous IS/TIA, n=70) and the CONTROL group (those without a previous IS/TIA, n=70). Platelet aggregability (VerifyNow Aspirins and VerifyNow P2Y12s), coagulation (fibrinogen and thromboelastography by Reoroxs) and endogenous fibrinolysis (D dimer and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1) were evaluated. RESULTS: Patients in the CASE group presented significantly higher systolic blood pressure levels (135.84±16.09 vs 123.68±16.11, po0.01), significantly more previous CABG (25.71% vs 10%, p=0.015) and significantly higher calcium channel blocker usage (42.86% vs 24.29%, p=0.02) than those in the control group. In the adjusted models, low triglyceride values, low hemoglobin values and higher systolic blood pressure were significantly associated with previous IS/TIA (CASE group). Most importantly, platelet aggregability, coagulation and fibrinolysis tests were not independently associated with previous cerebrovascular ischemic events (CASE group). CONCLUSION: Platelet aggregability, coagulation and endogenous fibrinolysis showed similar results among CAD patients with and without previous IS/TIA. Therefore, it remains necessary to identify other targets to explain the higher bleeding risk presented by these patients

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível SuperiorAmid the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, psychology had to adapt, providing care through Telepsychology. Several professionals got together to provide volunteer assistance and challenges had to be overcome. The construction of this project was based on research, analysis and collection of information and perceptions of volunteer psychologists who provided virtual services to the population during the pandemic. General objective: to comprehensively unveil the perception and meaning of life for volunteer psychologists who worked through Telepsychology in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. Specific Aims: To describe the perceptual experience of volunteer psychologists who worked with telepsychology in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. To identify the meaning of life for these professionals and the coping strategies used in self-care. Method: This is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach and supported by Merleau-Ponty's existential phenomenology. The philosophical, conceptual and theoretical framework used is Viktor Frankl's Logotherapy. After the project was approved by the Research Ethics Committee (CEP) and with the publication of the consubstantiated opinion, CAAE: 39944620.8.0000.5243, the study began. A semi-structured and self-applicable questionnaire was used, sent by e-mail and by the social media WhatsApp, using the snowball technique. Data collection took place between April and June 2021, and ended when data saturation was reached. The questions covered the following aspects: knowledge and preparation to attend remotely, motivation and meaning given to the experience of volunteer service, and self-care and spirituality. The research scenario was entirely virtual. Results: Three categories were identified: Knowledge and preparation to attend by telepsychology; Perception and meaning of life through altruism and experience of difficulties and Coping strategies and spirituality in volunteer work. To donate yourself as a volunteer is to respond to an inner calling, regardless of religion Providing psychological care is, above all, having an attitude towards life, in which, despite the difficulties, it is possible to elaborate the pain and build strategies for overcoming them, using spirituality as a source of help. Conclusion: The results validate the research questions, showing that the volunteer grasps the meaning of the situation he goes through and is able to extract the meaning of what the act of welcoming the other represents. Spirituality was pointed out as fundamental to the existential well-being, and with its help, the professional finds meaning to his life, a fact that impels him to continue his work. The identification of certain technical difficulties allowed the development of a product that includes checking the safety of virtual assistance. Limitations: The data collection was entirely virtual and carried out in a period of severe measures of social isolation. An evident knowledge gap was observed in the literature on the subject.190 f

A 17.6 kb DNA fragment from the right arm of chromosome VII of Saccharomyces cerevisiae has been sequenced and analysed. The sequence contains twelve open reading frames (ORFs) longer than 100 amino acids. Three genes had already been cloned and sequenced: CCT, ADE3 and TR-I. Two ORFs are similar to other yeast genes: G7722 with the YAL023 (PMT2) and PMT1 genes, encoding two integral membrane proteins, and G7727 with the first half of the genes encoding elongation factors 1gamma, TEF3 and TEF4. Two other ORFs, G7742 and G7744, are most probably yeast orthologues of the human and Paracoccus denitrificans electron-transferring flavoproteins (beta chain) and of the Escherichia coli phosphoserine phosphohydrolase. The five remaining identified ORFs do not show detectable homology with other protein sequences deposited in data banks. The sequence has been deposited in the EMBL data library under Accession Number Z49133

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between university students' sport practice and the way they perceived themselves and their lives. Participated in this investigation 2284 male and female students, with ages between 18 and 30 years (M = 21.87 ±2.37), who filled out a questionnaire to assess their levels of sport practice, as well the Portuguese versions of the Physical Self-Perception Profile (Fox & Corbin, 1989), the Subjective Happiness Scale (Lyubomirsky & Lepper, 1999), the Satisfaction With Life Scale (Diener, Emmons, Larsen, & Griffin, 1985) and the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (Watson, Clark, & Tellegen, 1988). Overall, the analysis of the results showed that students who were more physically confident and evaluated their lives more positively did sport more regularly; however, results also showed that students who reported lower levels of physical strength and self-esteem practiced sport more regularly than their peers
