This article, focusing fundamentally on Walter Benjamin’s Theses on the Philosophy of History, seeks to present his method of anamnestic restoration of the past. Benjamin commences by refusing positivistic historicism, founded on a disqualification of the past, and rendering mute that which in it remains unresolved.Benjamin passes this over in favour of a model of rescuing the wreckages of history and invocation of the forgotten to the confines of the present, recovered through a rememorative dialectics between the now and that which has preceded it. This "brushing history against the grain", by allowing an ethical configuration of the actual, opens the way to the possibility of the redemption of humanity in the here-and-now, establishing each second as a "narrow door" through which the Messiah can pass

Notwithstanding, few studies have made direct comparisons between treatments and therefore it is difficult to select the ideal treatment for an individual patient. The aim of this systematic review with network meta-analysis (NMA) was to analyze available and approved biologic therapies for each domain of psoriatic disease: skin, peripheral arthritis, axial arthritis, enthesitis, dactylitis, and nail involvement. Methods: Data from randomized clinical trials (RCTs) were included. A systematic review was performed using the MEDLINE database (July 2020) using PICO criteria. Bayesian NMA was conducted to compare the clinical efficacy of biological therapy in terms of the American College of Rheumatology criteria (ACR, 24 weeks) and Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI, 10-16 weeks). Results: Fifty-four RCTs were included in the systematic review. Due to the design of the RCTs, namely, outcomes and time points, network meta-analysis was performed for skin and peripheral arthritis domains. For the skin domain, 30 studies reporting PASI100 were included. The peripheral arthritis domain was analyzed through ACR70 in 12 studies. From the therapies approved for both domains, secukinumab and ixekizumab were the ones with the highest probability of reaching the proposed outcomes. There is a lack of outcome uniformization in the dactylitis, enthesitis, and nail domains, and therefore, an objective comparison of the studies was not feasible. Nevertheless, secukinumab was the treatment with the best compromise between the number of studies in each domain and the results obtained in the different outcomes. Conclusion: Secukinumab and ixekizumab were the treatments with the highest probability of reaching both PASI100 and ACR70 outcomes. Due to the lack of a standard evaluation of outcomes of the other psoriatic disease domains, a network meta-analysis for all the domains was not possible to perform.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

The overall objective of this dissertation is to adapt the Brief DSM-5 AUD Assessment (DSM-5 AUD) for use in Brazil and to obtain initial evidence of validity and reliability for a sample of the Brazilian population. The dissertation involved two studies. In the first, the execution of the stages of translation, synthesis, evaluation by experts, evaluation by the target audience, reverse translation and pilot study, and presentation of preliminary data on the internal consistency of the instrument were addressed. The results indicated that the scale revealed positive indicators of content validity, as well as a satisfactory coefficient of reliability of the scores (λ2 = .85). The second study aimed to obtain validity evidence of the adapted version (DSM-5 AUD-BR) based on the internal structure and relationships with external measures, such as the Short Alcohol Dependence Data (SADD), the Reduced Big Five Personality Factor Scale (ER5FP), and sociodemographic variables. A group of 192 people participated in this study, composed of public servers of the Distrito Federal Government and users of specialized treatment services for alcohol use disorders. Semiconfirmatory factor analysis indicated a unidimensional structure for the DSM-5 AUD-BR, with adequate fit indices (RMSEA = .043; CFI = .997 and TLI = .997) and internal consistency (λ2 = .95). There was a strong convergent validity index between the scale and the SADD (r = .87). The predictor variables education, gender, and conscientiousness were found to be statistically significant predictors explaining the emergence of alcohol-related behaviors as measured by the DSM-5 AUD-BR. The adapted scale proved to be a sensitive instrument to discriminate the level of severity of alcohol use between groups with and without treatment for the disorder. The research results indicate that there is satisfactory evidence of the validity and reliability of the DSM-5 AUD-BR for the Brazilian context

Path Signatures for Diversity in Probabilistic Trajectory Optimisation

Motion planning can be cast as a trajectory optimisation problem where a cost is minimised as a function of the trajectory being generated. In complex environments with several obstacles and complicated geometry, this optimisation problem is usually difficult to solve and prone to local minima. However, recent advancements in computing hardware allow for parallel trajectory optimisation where multiple solutions are obtained simultaneously, each initialised from a different starting point. Unfortunately, without a strategy preventing two solutions to collapse on each other, naive parallel optimisation can suffer from mode collapse diminishing the efficiency of the approach and the likelihood of finding a global solution. In this paper we leverage on recent advances in the theory of rough paths to devise an algorithm for parallel trajectory optimisation that promotes diversity over the range of solutions, therefore avoiding mode collapses and achieving better global properties. Our approach builds on path signatures and Hilbert space representations of trajectories, and connects parallel variational inference for trajectory estimation with diversity promoting kernels. We empirically demonstrate that this strategy achieves lower average costs than competing alternatives on a range of problems, from 2D navigation to robotic manipulators operating in cluttered environments

Disserta??o (Mestrado) ? Programa de P?s-Gradua??o em Ci?ncia Florestal, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2013.ABSTRACT The volume of wood in an area is usually estimated through mathematical equations, which are adjusted in a specific way to each trees of a particular site, however the traditional methods require the record of biometrics of individuals, in place, previously to the forest harvest. In cases where it is not possible to use the conventional procedures, owing to the absence of trees, the remaining stumps on site is the only source of information in which can infer the stock volume was harvested. This study aims to understand the relationship between the diameter of tree stump and the total volume in a stand of clonal of Eucalyptus by the using of volumetric equations and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), in order to contribute information that can offer support in actions of invigilate, audits of private companies and project management in general. The study was conducted in Farm Vida owned by Gusa Nordeste LTDA, inserted in the municipality of Barra do Corda, located in the central region of the state of Maranh?o. Were installed 52 plots with area 600 m?, randomly distributed into seven stands, and implanted under the same regime of soil preparation and with the same genetic material, all stands with same spacing of 4?3 m and and ages around six years. At each sample unit was registered data of total height of 15 trees, in which five of these trees were classified as dominant, and for all individuals inside of the sample units, has measured the diameters at 0,00; 0,05; 0,10; 0,15; 0,20; 0,25; 0,30 e 1,30 m relative to ground level. Further, 64 trees, into different diameter classes, were cubed. Those classes were sufficient to represent the stratum. After the conventional processing techniques, were employed techniques using variable of diameters measured near the level ground, order to compare with conventional procedures proposed in this work. In a general context it can be noted that when it is not possible to perform the inventory conventional and does not know the destination of the wood, use the estimates obtained by employing volumetric equations and ANN can be recommended as a viable alternative to obtain the probable wood stock, which was existent before to the harvest, using only set data of the stump diameter

Inferring Ontological Categories of OWL Classes Using Foundational Rules

Several efforts that leverage the tools of formal ontology (such as OntoClean, OntoUML, and UFO) have demonstrated the fruitfulness of considering key metaproperties of classes in ontology engineering. These metaproperties include sortality, rigidity, and external dependence, and give rise to many fine-grained ontological categories for classes, including, among others, kinds, phases, roles, mixins, etc. Despite that, it is still common practice to apply representation schemes and approaches - such as OWL - that do not benefit from identifying these ontological categories, and simplistically treat all classes in the same manner. In this paper, we propose an approach to support the automated classification of classes into the ontological categories underlying the (g)UFO foundational ontology. We propose a set of inference rules derived from (g)UFO's axiomatization that, given an initial classification of the classes in an OWL ontology, can support the inference of the classification for the remaining classes in the ontology. We formalize these rules, implement them in a computational tool and assess them against a catalog of ontologies designed by a variety of users for a number of domains.</p

AbstractIn spite of recent advances regarding equipment and surgical techniques in colorectal surgery, rates of anastomotic dehiscence (AD) have remained stable throughout the years. The development of products to protect anastomosis aiming the reduction of AD rates has shown to be promising. Human fibrinogen and thrombin patch (HFTP Tachosil®) have been used in experimental studies in animals and small case series in humans, with promising results. In this study, the authors describe the technique of HFTP use in details, aiming the protection of colorectal anastomosis, and retrospectively demonstrate the preliminary results in a pilot case series. HFTP was used in 4 patients submitted to conventional surgery. The procedures performed were: left colon resection, segmental colectomy (both for colorectal cancer), enteral anastomosis for fistula closure and right ileocolectomy. Anastomotic healing and absence of complications were observed in 3 patients, and the patient submitted to right ileocolectomy developed AD and died after reoperation. The use of HFTP is safe and can be indicated in selected cases. However, AD can occur even after the use of this strategy. Randomized controlled trials with larger samples of patients are needed in order to properly define the real benefits of this strategy in dehiscence preventio
