    Chiral and achiral 1D copper(ii) coordination polymers based on glycolato and chelating aromatic diamine ligands

    Achiral glycolic acid and chelating aromatic diamine ligands were employed at room temperature to prepare five 1D copper(II) coordination polymers which were structurally characterized. The polymers ∞1{[Cu(HG)(dipyam)](HG)} (1) (dipyam = 2,2'-dipyridylamine) and ∞1 [Cu(HG)(ClO4)(NN)] (NN = 2,2’-bipyridine (2), NN = 1,10-phenanthroline (3)) adopt homochiral helical structures in the crystal state and undergo spontaneous chiral resolution in the solid state. On the other hand, the polymers containing bidepronated glycolato ligand G, ∞1{[Cu(G)(dipyam)]·H2O} (1a), obtained from a solution of 1 in MeOH/iPrOH and ∞1{[Cu2(μ-G)(ClO4)(H2O)(dipyam)2](ClO4)(H2O)2} (4b) are achirals. Crystals of 4b have been obtained together with crystals of the molecular complex [Cu(HG)(H2O)(dipyam)](ClO4) (4a). Analysis by Hirshfeld surface generation and two-dimensional fingerprinting was carried out to study the nature of the interactions and their contributions towards the crystal packing.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad | Ref.     Spectrophotometric determination of the formation constants of calcium(II) complexes with 2,2'-bipyridyl and 1,10-phenanthroline in acetonitrile

    AbstractThe oxygen-evolving complex (OEC), which consists of a calcium-manganese cluster, is the reaction center of the Photosystem II. At this catalytic site, the water-splitting reaction in dioxygen and hydronium ions occurs. In order to partially reproduce the water splitting process, several studies have reported the synthesis of functional model complexes. Nevertheless, there is a small amount of reports, concerning the spectral behavior of calcium complexes or the calcium role in the cluster. In this work, in order to explore the absorption spectrum of calcium species in acetonitrile, an equilibrium study of the calcium complexes with 2,2'-bipyridyl or 1,10-phenanthroline, was carried out. The formation constants and the calculated electronic spectrum of each complex was obtained by a modified method of continuous variations consisting in a correlation of the experimental spectrophotometric data with the HypSpec software. The values of the formation constants for the calcium(II) complexes with 2,2'-bipyridyl and 1,10-phenanthroline, are Log β110 = 4.39 ± 0.02 and Log β110 = 5.94 ± 0.05, respectively

    El trabajo obtuvo un Premio Tomás García Verdejo a las buenas prácticas educativas en la Comunidad Autónoma de Extremadura para el curso 2018/2019, Modalidad B.Se describe una experiencia llevada a cabo en el IES El Brocense (Cáceres) que consistió en desarrollar distintas acciones utilizando como recurso el cine. Además de aprender contenidos de las asignaturas impartidas a través del cine, se perseguía fomentar la convivencia escolar y promover la igualdad entre hombres y mujeres. Algunas de las actividades realizadas fueron: jornadas sobre el cine, elaboración y grabación de cortos cinematográficos, asistencia a un musical, participación en conferencias y jornadas sobre cine, elaboración de carteles, etc.ExtremaduraES
