Automated Word Puzzle Generation via Topic Dictionaries
We propose a general method for automated word puzzle generation. Contrary to
previous approaches in this novel field, the presented method does not rely on
highly structured datasets obtained with serious human annotation effort: it
only needs an unstructured and unannotated corpus (i.e., document collection)
as input. The method builds upon two additional pillars: (i) a topic model,
which induces a topic dictionary from the input corpus (examples include e.g.,
latent semantic analysis, group-structured dictionaries or latent Dirichlet
allocation), and (ii) a semantic similarity measure of word pairs. Our method
can (i) generate automatically a large number of proper word puzzles of
different types, including the odd one out, choose the related word and
separate the topics puzzle. (ii) It can easily create domain-specific puzzles
by replacing the corpus component. (iii) It is also capable of automatically
generating puzzles with parameterizable levels of difficulty suitable for,
e.g., beginners or intermediate learners.Comment: 4 page
Markovchart: an R package for cost-optimal patient monitoring and treatment using control charts
Control charts originate from industrial statistics, but are constantly seeing new areas of application, for example in health care (Thor et al. in BMJ Qual Saf 16(5):387-399, 2007. https://doi.org/10.1136/qshc.2006.022194; Suman and Prajapati in Int J Metrol Qual Eng, 2018. https://doi.org/10.1051/ijmqe/2018003). This paper is about the Markovchart package, an R implementation of generalised Markov chain-based control charts with health care applications in mind and with a focus on cost-effectiveness. The methods are based on Zempleni et al. (Appl Stoch Model Bus Ind 20(3):185-200, 2004. https://doi.org/10.1002/asmb.521), Dobi and Zempleni (Qual Reliab Eng Int 35(5):1379-1395, 2019a. https://doi.org/10.1002/qre.2518, Ann Univ Sci Budapestinensis Rolando Eotvos Nomin Sect Comput 49:129-146, 2019b). The implemented ideas in the package were motivated by problems encountered by health care professionals and biostatisticians when assessing the effects and costs of different monitoring schemes and therapeutic regimens. However, the implemented generalisations may be useful in other (e.g., engineering) applications too, as they mainly revolve around the loosening of assumptions seen in traditional control chart theory. The Markovchart package is able to model processes with random shift sizes (i.e., the degradation of the patient's health), random repair (i.e., treatment) and random time between samplings (i.e., visits) aswell. The article highlights the flexibility of the methods through the modelling of different disease progression and treatment scenarios and also through an application on real-world data of diabetic patients

Cosmology with Gamma-Ray Bursts Using k-correction
In the case of Gamma-Ray Bursts with measured redshift, we can calculate the
k-correction to get the fluence and energy that were actually produced in the
comoving system of the GRB. To achieve this we have to use well-fitted
parameters of a GRB spectrum, available in the GCN database. The output of the
calculations is the comoving isotropic energy E_iso, but this is not the
endpoint: this data can be useful for estimating the {\Omega}M parameter of the
Universe and for making a GRB Hubble diagram using Amati's relation.Comment: 4 pages, 6 figures. Presented as a talk on the conference '7th

Optimized Superconducting Nanowire Single Photon Detectors to Maximize Absorptance
Dispersion characteristics of four types of superconducting nanowire single
photon detectors, nano-cavity-array- (NCA-), nano-cavity-deflector-array-
(NCDA-), nano-cavity-double-deflector-array- (NCDDA-) and
nano-cavity-trench-array- (NCTA-) integrated (I-A-SNSPDs) devices was optimized
in three periodicity intervals commensurate with half-, three-quarter- and one
SPP wavelength. The optimal configurations capable of maximizing NbN
absorptance correspond to periodicity dependent tilting in S-orientation
(90{\deg} azimuthal orientation). In NCAI-A-SNSPDs absorptance maxima are
reached at the plasmonic Brewster angle (PBA) due to light tunneling. The
absorptance maximum is attained in a wide plasmonic-pass-band in
NCDAI_1/2*lambda-A, inside a flat-plasmonic-pass-band in NCDAI_3/4*lambda-A and
inside a narrow plasmonic-band in NCDAI_lambda-A. In NCDDAI_1/2*lambda-A bands
of strongly-coupled cavity and plasmonic modes cross, in NCDDAI_3/4*lambda-A an
inverted-plasmonic-band-gap develops, while in NCDDAI_lambda-A a narrow
plasmonic-pass-band appears inside an inverted-minigap. The absorptance maximum
is achieved in NCTAI_1/2*lambda-A inside a plasmonic-pass-band, in
NCTAI_3/4*lambda-A at inverted-plasmonic-band-gap center, while in
NCTAI_lambda-A inside an inverted-minigap. The highest 95.05% absorptance is
attained at perpendicular incidence onto NCTAI_lambda-A. Quarter-wavelength
type cavity modes contribute to the near-field enhancement around NbN segments
except in NCDAI_lambda-A and NCDDAI_3/4*lambda-A. The polarization contrast is
moderate in NCAI-A-SNSPDs (~10^2), NCDAI- and NCDDAI-A-SNSPDs make possible to
attain considerably large polarization contrast (~10^2-10^3 and ~10^3-10^4),
while NCTAI-A-SNSPDs exhibit a weak polarization selectivity (~10-10^2).Comment: 26 pages, 8 figure
Evaporative fluorophore labeling of carbohydrates via reductive amination
As analytical glycomics became to prominence, newer and more efficient sample preparation methods are being developed. Albeit, numerous reductive amination based carbohydrate labeling protocols have been reported in the literature, the preferred way to conduct the reaction is in closed vials. Here we report on a novel evaporative labeling protocol with the great advantage of continuously concentrating the reagents during the tagging reaction, therefore accommodating to reach the optimal reagent concentrations for a wide range of glycan structures in a complex mixture. The optimized conditions of the evaporative labeling process minimized sialylation
loss, otherwise representing a major issue in reductive amination based carbohydrate tagging. In addition, complete and uniform dispersion of dry samples was obtained by supplementing the low volume labeling mixtures (several microliters) with the addition of extra solvent (e.g., THF). Evaporative labeling is an automation-friendly glycan labeling method, suitable for standard open 96 well plate format operation
Effect of Weaning Strategies on Growth and Survival of Pikeperch, Sander lucioperca, Larvae
The effects of different weaning strategies on survival, cannibalism and growth were investigated in pikeperch (Sander lucioperca) larvae. Two weaning strategies were tested with 15 days post hatch (DPH) larvae: Co-feeding and Supplementary feeding. Co-feeding was performed with Artemia nauplii and dry feed by the gradual reduction of nauplii either " 25% day(-1) or 14% day(-1), whereas supplementary feeding was performed with sudden weaning to exclusively dry feed while Artemia nauplii was the last meal of the day. Each strategy was tested in two time durations, for 4 and 7 days. Co-feeding weaning strategy seems to be more beneficial compare to supplementary feeding weaning strategy in response of lower mortality (%), higher growth and finally maximum total yield. Even though higher cannibalism was found in the larvae weaned for 7 days from 15-22 DPH but higher growth and survival in this group make this weaning strategy better than larvae weaned for 4 days from 15-19 DPH. Therefore, it is concluded that the co-feeding weaning strategy for 7 days from 15 to 22 DPH should be followed for successful larviculture of pikeperch

Ă–kolĂłgiai cĂ©lĂş gyeptelepĂtĂ©s esetĂ©n rendkĂvĂĽl fontos a megfelelĹ‘ szaporĂtĂłanyagok, a megfelelĹ‘ fűfajok kiválasztása Ă©s a termĂ©szetkĂmĂ©lĹ‘ technolĂłgia alkalmazása.
