In the previous couple of years, the internet of things (IoT) is gaining additional and a lot of attention each within the academia and in the industrial worlds. A wide accepted notion of the internet of things (IoT) is stated the chance of militarization everyday objects with adequate technology to permit them to speak with alternative objects, identify themselves, or perhaps participate to distribute computing. These things are customarily stated as SO2019;s (Smart Object), might be drawn as actual relics augmented with computing, communication, actuations and storing functionalities. Their importance resides within the capabilities they need to create physical environments 201C;smart201D; therefore as to offer novel cyber physical service to individuals. smart Objects, that are vital elements of the IOT, are everyday objects that are equipped with hardware components like radio for communication, a CPU hardware to process tasks, sensors to be responsive to the globe within which they're located and to regulate it at a given instant. Even so, as sensible objects have restricted resource constraints to appoint sturdy protection mechanisms, they're at risk of subtle security attacks. For this reason, a smart authentication mechanism that considers every helpful resource constraints and safety is needed

Amaranth Starch Isolation, Oxidation, Heat-Moisture Treatment and Application in Edible Film Formation

Starch was isolated from amaranth grains and subjected to modification treatments. Oxidation of isolated starch was done using sodium hypochlorite and heat-moisture treatment was done at 85°C for 6hr keeping the moisture content 30% during treatment. Native and modified starches of amaranth were used for preparation of edible films and different characteristics of films were evaluated. Both the modification treatments increased tensile strength of amaranth starch films. Heat moisture treatment increased water vapour permeability while oxidation had contrary effects on amaranth starch films. Water solubility of films of amaranth starches was reduced by modification treatments of starches. Heat moisture treatments increased yellowness of starch films

Preservation and storage of Lemon (Citrus Limon) Juice

Lemon fruits were sorted and washed before extraction of juice. Extracted juice of lemon fruits was treated with potassium metabisulphite, sodium benzoate and thermal processing. Treated and untreated samples of juice were stored at room and refrigeration temperature for 90 days and analyzed for chemical properties at 15 days of interval during storage. Total sugars, reducing sugars and browning of juice increased during storage. On the contrary, tannin content of juice decreased during storage. Storage at refrigeration temperature was found better effective in preservation and keeping quality of juice showing lesser changes in chemical properties of juice during storage than at room temperature. Results suggested that lemon juice after chemical and pasteurisation treatments can be stored safely at room and refrigeration temperature for 90 days

Plant extracts are the most attractive sources of newer drugs and have been shown to produce promising results for the treatment of gastric ulcers. Karanjin, a furano-flavonoid has been evaluated for anti-ulcerogenic property by employing adult male albino rats. Karanjin (>95% pure) was administered to these rats in two different concentrations, that is, 10 and 20 mg kg−1 b.w. Ulcers were induced in the experimental animals by swim and ethanol stress. Serum, stomach and liver-tissue homogenates were assessed for biochemical parameters. Karanjin inhibited 50 and 74% of ulcers induced by swim stress at 10 and 20 mg kg−1 b.w., respectively. Gastric mucin was protected up to 85% in case of swim stress, whereas only 47% mucin recovery was seen in ethanol stress induced ulcers. H+, K+-ATPase activity, which was increased 2-fold in ulcer conditions, was normalized by Karanjin in both swim/ethanol stress-induced ulcer models. Karanjin could inhibit oxidative stress as evidenced by the normalization of lipid peroxidation and antioxidant enzyme (i.e., catalase, peroxidase and superoxide dismutase) levels. Karanjin at concentrations of 20 mg kg−1 b.w., when administered orally for 14 days, did not indicate any lethal effects. There were no significant differences in total protein, serum glutamate pyruvate transaminase, serum glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase and alkaline phosphatase between normal and Karanjin-treated rats indicating no adverse effect on major organs. During treatment schedule, animals remained as healthy as control animals with normal food and water intake and body weight gain

Accuracy of Mandibular Rami Measurements in Prediction of Sex

Background: Sex of an individual can be determined by means of skeletal indicators when soft tissues are not available for analysis. Also, when entire skull is not available for analysis, mandible plays a vital role in prediction of sex. As various studies have proven the accuracy of panoramic radiographs in providing anatomical measurements, the present study was conducted using digital orthopantomographs (OPGs) in the South Indian population for the same. Aim: To measure and compare various measurements of the ramus in mandible on digital orthopantomographs (OPGs) and to assess the usefulness of such measurements in prediction of sex in an individual. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional, observational study was carriedout using 500 digital orthopantomographs (OPGs) with five rami measurements taken for each radiograph in the South Indian population. The determination of sex was done by discriminant function analysis with a prediction accuracy being 84.1% amongst females and 76% amongst males. Results: All the variables were found to be good predictors for prediction of sex in the study with Condylar height/Maximum ramus height; Projective height of ramus; and Coronoid height, being highly significant. Conclusion: This study on rami measurements showed that significant sex-related dimorphism is evident in rami of mandibles indicating its potential usage in mass disasters and otherwise in prediction of sex in individuals with disputed identity. Keywords: Mandibular ramus, Digital Orthopantomographs (OPGs), Prediction of se

SYNTHESIS AND BIOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF SOME NOVEL HETEROCYCLIC MANNICH BASES

    Get PDF
Various novel heterocyclic mannich bases were prepared by using Mannich reaction. Acetanilide was treated with substituted benzaldehyde and morpholine / methyl amine to give corresponding titled compounds in good yields. The synthesized compounds were characterized by physical properties and spectral studies (IR, 1H-NMR) and tested for antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis by using cup plate method with reference to the standard Streptomycin. All the titled compounds show good antimicrobial activity

STUDY ON RISK FACTORS, CLINICAL AND THERAPEUTIC PROFILE OF CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE PATIENTS IN GOVERNMENT GENERAL HOSPITAL

Objective: This study mainly aims to assess and evaluate risk factors, clinical and therapeutical profile in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients and promote rational drug therapy; to identify the prevalence of COPD symptoms and to assess the drugs prescribed in treating COPD patients; and to evaluate patterns of diagnosing COPD in patients and determine the severity of COPD in patients using COPD assessment test (CAT). Methods: A prospective observational study conducted in government general hospital among 220 patients for 6 months. Data were collected from patients by CAT questionnaire through interviewing each subject. Results: The majority of the patients (36%) were in the age group of 71–80 years. Males are more prone to the COPD (91%). Most common initiation interdependence of these habits are 31–40 years and 61.8% are suffering with comorbidities. A total of 145 (65%) have social habits. About 68% of the patients are suffering from occupational exposure, 78% of the patients are suffering from old pulmonary problems. Conclusion: Clinical pharmacist main provision is providing care to individual patients by patient counseling, regarding the rational usage of drug and also providing proper education regarding the usage of nebulizers and creating awareness to the patients
