Weak measurement of quantum superposition states in graphene

We employ a weak measurement approach to demonstrate the very existence of the photoexcited interband superposition states in intrinsic graphene. We propose an optical two-beam setup where such measurements are possible and derive an explicit formula for the differential optical absorption that contains a signature of such states. We provide an interpretation of our results in terms of a non-Markovian weak measurement formalism applied to the pseudospin degree of freedom coupled with an electromagnetic wave.Comment: 8 pages, 2 figure

Sequence type 131 (ST131) is one of the predominant Escherichia coli lineages among extraintestinal pathogenic E. coli (ExPEC) that causes a variety of diseases in humans and animals and frequently shows multidrug resistance. Here, we report the first genome sequence of an ST131-ExPEC strain from poultry carrying the plasmid-encoded colistin resistance gene mcr-1

Untersuchung der Nachweiseffizienz von Tau-Neutrino Reaktionen mittels Charm-Hadronen im CHORUS Experiment

The search for nu_mu --> nu_tau oscillation has been considered to be the ultimate target for the CHORUS experiment. Within the main goals of the detection, the direct observation of the taulepton by its kinematical decay topology in nuclear emulsion is a key feature. To prove the validity of various applicable kink search strategies, dimuonic charm events were selected and used to calculate the kink finding efficiency. The analysis shows that CHORUS is indeed able to locate with high precision decay topologies in the micrometer and millirad range required to detect nu_tau induced charged currents

Comparative impact analysis of laser radiation on steel grades 1045 and 5140

    Get PDF
There are results of experiments with deep engraving steel grades 1045 and 5140. The deep engraving was made by laser system equipped with a pulsed ytterbium fiber laser. The objectives of the work is to evaluate the change in the structure and properties of the material in the laser exposure area. Microsections of materials have been investigated and microhardness was measured for this purpose. The optimal parameters of laser material removal were considered. It is shown that various changes occur in the metal structure, which depends on the composition of the steel. In particular, when processing with identical laser parameters, tempered steel 1045 remelts and its hardness changes, while steel 5140 does not change its structure

The object of the study is the biological material (organs and tissues) of the mammal species Pig home, selected in the territories with different geoecological situation. The aim of the work is to determine the elemental composition of biological water extracted from mammalian organs and to reveal the peculiarities of its variability, depending on the method of water allocation and the habitat of the mammal

Leading order analysis of neutrino induced dimuon events in the CHORUS experiment

We present a leading order QCD analysis of a sample of neutrino induced charged-current events with two muons in the final state originating in the lead-scintillating fibre calorimeter of the CHORUS detector. The results are based on a sample of 8910 neutrino and 430 antineutrino induced opposite-sign dimuon events collected during the exposure of the detector to the CERN Wide Band Neutrino Beam between 1995 and 1998. % with Eμ1,Eμ2>5E_{\mu 1},E_{\mu 2} > 5 GeV and Q2>3Q^2 > 3 GeV2^2 collected %between 1995 and 1998. The analysis yields a value of the charm quark mass of \mc = (1.26\pm 0.16 \pm 0.09) \GeVcc and a value of the ratio of the strange to non-strange sea in the nucleon of κ=0.33±0.05±0.05\kappa = 0.33 \pm 0.05 \pm 0.05, improving the results obtained in similar analyses by previous experiments.Comment: Submitted to Nuclear Physics
